It's not always the case that the person is a criminal. My brother was once beaten by 2 cops. 1 of them kicked him in the face while he was in handcuffs. I've seen cops violate many traffic laws, commit assault, wrongfully discharge their firearm, tase people for pointless reasons, and so on. yet usually they are suspended with pay or fired. It's their job to uphold the law. It's unfair to allow cops to just be fired for braking these laws yet send a civilian to jail for braking the same law.
