Gotta love the mom dancing in the aisle at 2:20. Really neat, really sweet. Man I miss ABBA. Great to hear they are releasing an unreleased song with their upcoming record reissue. These guys were the perfect pop group, never to be equalled I don't think.
You can tell by the kids faces just how big the ABBA phenomenon was here in Australia. You don't normally see Aussies crying at entertainment venues except occasionally at the football - but you can see in this video how some of those kids were simply overwhelmed.
Wonderful posting Shay, this is ABBA at thier absolute best :) Seeing them perform Dancing Queen live at the zenith of thier career in Australia is spellbinding. I was in awe watching them perform before those many thousands of people. Absolutely breathtaking :)
The incredible talents of Bjorn and Benny backed up by an entire string orchestra is all well and good but the explosion of noise when the girls hit the stage lets you know where the true heart and soul of Abba's sound lies.
Another good vid, and a great performance by ABBA, the only trouble with having a time machine is how would we all fit in to go and see the best pop band ever .. :-)
I've always found it odd this is their signature song. I guess it was because it came out in the disco era. To me it's about their 10th best song. "Knowing Me, Knowing You", "The Name of the Game", "Take a Chance on Me" and others are much better.
I love hearing them singing live. It's odd how magnetic Agnetha was on stage, but yet in interviews she talked of hating crowds and she didn't like performing live.
Terrific post, Shay. Wouldn't it be great to have a time machine just long enough to return to 1977 Sydney and attend this concert! What a performance!! Thanks. —Tom
Hang on if Einstien was correct just maybe we can go back some day. Let me see as we reach the speed of light time stands still but what happens if we go faster ! hmmmm
Thanks Tom ill start on that time machine tomorrow !
Howdy Shay, I can only imagine the feeling of being at one of their concerts and envy those who were lucky enough to attend one. Just watching this performance gives me chills. Thanks, Lenny
@Grandpaw2511 Howdy Lenny , great to hear from ya ! Know what you mean Im still kicking myself for not seeing them too in 79 in Dublin but tickets were like gold dust i heard !
