They can go protest outside of the church, which they have. I don't see how it's hurting their cause. Same Sex Marriage is slowing being legalized in more & more States.

Hey, there have been times in which I did soul searching. I wanted to know myself. When I did that searching I found out that I am straight. I know formerly gay people who are now straight. Isn't that a choice. The difference between us and most species is that we are capable of conscious thought and are perform complex activities without emergent properties.
If you had to soul-search you were probably borderline, as were those friends of yours. I knew when I was four-years-old that I was straight and that it wasn't going to change. Most men fall firmly on one side or the other.
Some decades ago there were gay men who wanted to go straight to avoid problems. They had operant conditioning. Most ended up at best unchanged and at worst sexually dysfunctional. If it were a choice they'd have changed.

10% of most species are homosexual. Without any other investigation, evolution says there's a reason for that.
There have been genes found which correlate with homosexuality, I believe, but my memory is getting worse as I get older.
Even if it's only congenital (caused by, perhaps, influences in the womb) it's not a CHOICE. Really.
When did you decide to be straight? When did you realize you had that choice?
