  • Whaaaaat ??? 18 people dislike this video ? What's wrong with this world ?

  • Great work dude keep it up, it baffles me how these illness's come around. Much love Lewis.

  • Can you donate to something else besides your own race?

  • @Trynage93 Helping Vulcans is hard without Warp Drive.

  • @UnculturedProject "Race is a classification system used to categorize humans into large and distinct populations or groups by heritable phenotypic characteristics, geographic ancestry, physical appearance, and ethnicity. In the early twentieth century the term was often used," Just saying, your only helping people of Indian ethnicity.

  • @Trynage93 Ahh I assumed you meant Vulcans or Andorians or Klingons. Because clearly, before you made this comment, you saw my videos from Kenya and Los Angeles, right? Therefore, for your original question to be true, you must have been referring to the Human Race. Which, incidentally, is the only race I'm a part of.

  • @UnculturedProject 2/58 Videos, something isn't wrong there at all. You can argue all day about the definition of race but we all know when speaking to a human about races it's typically defining races on Earth, not androids. Whether or not you want to be a complete smart ass and acknowledge that or not is up to you. I think I'll stick to donating to bigger less personal organizations, TY.

  • @Trynage93 I'll gladly forfeit a donation from someone whose concerns is I'm helping too much of a particular "race". Have a nice day.

  • @Trynage93 Only skeptical racist nutbags like you think about racism in a noble effort to help people overcome their situation. Next, you'll be asking Caucasians or African Americans to stop contributing to hurricane relief efforts in U.S., coz they are of the same "race".

  • Comment removed

  • @Trynage93 Is something wrong with helping anyone? You're fucking hypocritical and judgmental. He's focusing on helping a certain area for a while, you can't just help one country for 2 weeks and then go to another that easily and quickly with enough funds.

  • thumps up if u came here because of ATHENE!!!!!!!!!!

  • TTTT!!!

  • I have a question.

Why is this project called "We Can Speak for Ourselves"?

  • @SportsGirl234 The video is called "We Can Speak For Ourselves" because usually you have someone speak on behalf of those in need. It could be an aid worker, a celebrity, a Public Relations spokesperson, or even a YouTube vlogger. But the best people to speak for the poor are the poor themselves :) This video is also co-scripted with villagers and also includes parts that are completely unscripted.

  • @UnculturedProject Okay thanks for clearing that up :)

  • I hope way less kids die over there now and i do as much as i can to support this Project, although im just 16years old therefore i can't donate any money but as you've written in another comment it isn't just about money so im gonna try and spread this video as much as i can, thanks for your effort and i hope you reach a lot with this project. Subscribed, liked and favorited this video!

  • @DarkSite77 Thanks so much! And yeah, you're right, this isn't about raising a much money as humanly possible. There are definitely other ways to help and those ways definitely do have an impact in the growth and success of this work :)

  • Please respond.

I think the whole problem to everything in this world is that we dont share. If we all just shared. I cant stand people who say they wanne go out and save people from being poor etc. Maybe we should all just start sharing. We have enorgh resources to give everyone a great life dont we? I mean i have so much stuff that i dont need! btw i remember you, athene showed you again. I think i was 14 there, now 19, I do support you but sharing is the main goal if you ask me.

  • @NewGuyCommentary Hey :) I like the sentiment of your comment but do want to add some thoughts. Sharing is important. But just because you have a lot of stuff doesn't mean sharing your stuff (and sending it overseas for example) is the right way to solve this problem. It could actually cause some harm in fact by squelching local businesses.

I think what you're touching upon is compassion and generosity. And, yeah, the world would be a better place if we were all more compassionate & generous :)

  • I've just happened across this recently though a friend of mine, "Athene." I'm living in poverty as it is, but I'm doing my part by spreading the word locally and online. Keep up the amazing work! My thoughts are with you all!

  • I'm sure you've realized this by now, but you are absolutely incredible, inspiring women. I teared up watching this video. I hope that you can continue to do the wonderful work that you are doing and can continue helping those children. Thank you so much for making such a positive impact on this world.

  • A T H E N E

  • athene army has arrived

  • ATHENE ARMY IS HERE!!

  • Its amazing to see in even a whole like today, there's still some humanity left. Something that makes us all human. And leave it up to the poor, unprivileged people of the world, like these women, to shine light on it. Simply Amazing

  • Till all are one!

  • people need clean drinking water. Merck has done.......somethinhg. no other corp. has done noyhing.

  • i am poor,.... write now, believe me if i had it i would give something.

  • @TheTheratfarmer This isn't about fundraising. Programs like the Community Health Volunteers you've seen in this video aren't just funded by donations. US Gov't and other gov't support is critical. So this is something that needs more than donations. It needs political support, awareness, and people who care about this issue. So watching this video, and keeping that in mind, is more than enough :)

  • this is great. if i were wealthy i would donate money or supplies.

  • follow me on Twitter @ToochieB123 Thanks it would be greatly appreciated.

  • I love you.

  • Assalamu Alaikum, Here are some outstanding women who are helping some children who without their help could have died. When I see this sorta thing I can not but say that I admire what they have done and are doing now. No matter who they are in any part of the world they should not have to be suffering in that way. I am sorry that I am unable to give any thing tangible for support of their efforts accept to say thank you for what you have done as human beings.Thank you again sincerely Abdul Alim

  • @Alimishere Your kind comment was more than enough :) Thank you. I am quite serious actually. I believe my work resonates especially with the Muslim community and I've been dealing with pundits and haters who don't see the value in my work and the approach I take. Comments like yours remind me I'm striking a chord with those that the pundits and haters are not.

  • @bootclunk Ideas and proposed solutions don't exist in a bubble. Reality is complex. In a place like Bangladesh, the poorer a family is the more incentivized they are to have more children. This is because they can work at a young age and pull in an income. And some will survive to take care of the parents at old age. Imagine the complexity and stop blaming the poor. They need more than condoms and all-caps lettered "solutions".

  • This is amazing!

  • Awesome. Very inspiring to see the strength, selflessness, resolve and pride in all of these women's faces. Great work.

  • Amar gram..amar desh...I can't wait to go back to my country and step on real green...soft...dew layered grass again..it's been 12 years..

  • How Could Anyone Ever Dislike This ?!?!?! Heartless People !!!

  • @superyo0oyo0o I don't know, maybe they disliked because they didn't like the situation they were in to begin with. They don't like that this is necessary, that the problem exists in the first place. Still a poor excuse to dislike the video, though.

  • I LOVE them! :) ~S~

  • AMAZING women !! The world is full of WONDERFUL people !!…I’m glad people like you show the GOOD side of humanity … we ALL have the ability to do GREAT things just a priceless smile can make a dark day brighter !! …. *smile*

  • ur an amzing person and so r the women out there all of those people fighting through poverty and suffrage

  • This is Good work, Women have great Power, and Great hearts.

  • @Tesorazorz You're ignoring the cost. Welfare systems typically go 20% to help people 80% to bureaucracy. The enormous resource redirection to bureaucrats reduces capital accumulation which ultimately hurts the poor the most. This is because as labor become more productive, the more goods the poor can have. I suggest you learn some economics before you start talking about the "good" that welfare systems do.

  • this video has so many views but the number of likes looks pitiful in comparison. I don't understand. It's such a tiny task to click that button.

  • This just goes to show how much better private charities are than government bureaucracies are at helping people. We should destroy the worlds welfare states, allow the free-market to flourish and donate a portion of the wealth we create to charities to help those that have fallen through the cracks.

  • @UnculturedProject Awesome job! But important question: if I'm hitting up the motherland anytime soon, how do I get involved with stuff like this or related projects?

  • @airrunnerz Did you just email me about this? If you have relatives in Bangladesh, they can help you best. Bangladeshis do a lot of charity work in the "informal sector" (i.e. private giving). My own relatives have built schools, clinics, and much more. I'm sure your family would know best. But there are also many local groups that welcome Western educated Bangladeshis for any number of charitable projects - both in the field and in the office.

  • Wish these videos got more attention :(

  • This is amazing what you guys are doing. Truly inspiring to see women in Bangladesh being empowered as they are. I cannot commend you enough. Thank you. We should all be so generous with our time and money.

  • The music is a nightmare. Turn it off.

  • This is just BEAUTIFUL :)

  • beautiful making a difference is great

  • what is shee sayinggggggg????? its funny lol

  • @maidul13 my mom is form there:)

  • Liked, favorited, shared on FB.

  • @MariMattie Thanks so much. I know it may not seem like much - but that is actually the most important thing you can do. More so than donating. This spreads the word and, for organizations like Save the Children, introduces people to the idea of Community Health Volunteers. They are very important and others need to know more about people like the women seen in this video :)

  • How do I donate?

  • @MariMattie You have two options. The work I did was with Save the Children - a registered charity and non-profit organization. There is a link to donate or you can visit goodgoes(dot)org. If you prefer, you can donate to my project - but bear in mind my project is just my efforts as an individual. Sometimes I team up with Save the Children and sometimes I do projects elsewhere with other people, groups, and organizations.

  • It's really nice what youtube is doing for bangladesh :)))

  • Hi Shawn this Kaifi sajlee again and i commented on later video today.

    Thumi akta bahlo kaj cortheso.

  • Theyr awesome

  • Chek my vids

  • Athene army was here

  • ATHENE&SWIFTY

  • FOR ATHENE!

  • Where did you get this beautiful music from? Is it local to Bangladesh?

  • @vasalmon It was generously provided by Zack Hemsey. You might have heard his work already if you watched the movie trailer for Inception.

  • This is a beautiful video, Shawn. I feel the poor are often portrayed as a "them" by charity adverts and even in documentaries-this showed that there really is only an "us". I'm glad to see your project still running, and well, after several years. You've done so many things to change the world for the better, and I have a feeling this is only the beginning. Keep doing what you do, and best wishes. :)

  • How can this charity not be in the top 5 for p4a?? People need to sort out their priorities.

  • teehee "plumpy nut"

  • wooooow loved the vid

  • I almost cried when I saw the little kids doing the nerdfighter sign...

  • beautiful people. inside and out.

  • Is anyone else having trouble watching from about 5min on?

  • @XOXfreakshowXOX You can try refreshing and/or watching at a lower resolution. I've tried it on Mac OS X (with Chrome) at both 480p and 720p and they seem to work.

  • Shaycarl liked this. >:D

  • Who run the world? GIRLS.
