I love the Crumbs and most other cartoonists dearly, but it always amazes me when they treat the viewing of someone's sketchbook doodles like it's the great American novel. Please, people - we have fun drawing cartoons, for land sakes - we weren't grinding away in a lab for 20 years mastering cold fusion.
I admit, I don't REALLY know the guy. But I'm sure he'd pretty much brush you off if you told him you were a fan. At one point he wouldn't give an autograph, but seems to mellowed out some with age. He always talks about how grim his father was, but he can be the same personality wise. I guess it's the impression I've gotten from, a recluse who just puts up with the fame and attention, almost being annoyed by it.
