  • that kick is weak....

on the other hand, the tune is sick as fuck....

  • Beatiful work by the way!

  • Appreciate it! ; )

  • Are you using one of the preset scales for this track??

  • Yes.

(but I can't remeber which one...chromatic or egyptian maybe...)

  • Update: I just found a reply I gave someone here a while ago, lol

"here I'm just using the "Egypt" Arp Scale, with step-2 set as the centernote "

and on the 6th octave. (from what I c on the vid)

My ESX is broken atm so I can't check it, and I couldn't recall exactly what scale it was (almost tho, heh!)

    Hope that helps ; )

  • thanks for the info!

Im still trying to figure out the differences between the scales. Sometimes i cant hear the difference at all between one scale and another.

  • Yeah, some of the scales just have a couple of different notes from others, lol

But look at the step key's when playing the Arp. when they lit you'll know what notes that scale uses.

When you play the arp and no keys lit, is cause the notes are on another octave.

Play around changing the centernote (when in a kybd part just press any step key) you'll see they can sound quite different!

  • awesome!

    thanks again.

  • that looks like so much fun! i was laughing watching this. thanks for making this video. it sounds so great! :D

  • I can't believe how long it's been and I never replied to this particular comment!

Thanks man, I smiled when I read this!

Those kinds of reactions are the reason why I make music.

Thanks again, Glad U liked it!

  • you're very welcome! keep making the tunes! oh! and i got a Kaossilator! =]

  • Hey cool, those are a lotta fun! : D

    I'm gonna get one too!

but 1st a new multitracker to record more songs...

I had to sell the one that I used for these vids : (

  • Hey, how does the arpeggiator work? Does the ribbon controller choose notes from a particular scale, like a keyboard in slider form? How many different scales are there? Can they be customised? Thanks.

  • Yeah, that's basically how it works, and there are 31 PRESET scales, but you can also make your own by holding down the notes (step keys) you wish to use (up to 12 notes I think) though it works differently. Check my other vid if you wish for an example

  • TheHside...Thanks. that did help. I have another qustion. Which program did you use inside the ESX to make this track? is this beat inside the ESX or did you download beats to put into the ESX to make this track possible? curious. Thanks again for the help. ALso, with the digital multitrack recorder: if you have that hooked up to the ESX, you're able to record te beats from the ESX onto the Recorder? not sure how that works exactly. maybe you can help me out. wanna record tracks as well. Thanks.

  • um no, no "program" or downloaded tracks, everything was done with the original samples on the ESX, as for the recording just google "digital multitracker tutorials" or something and I'm sure you'll find lots of info on how to record and edit with them

    Peace.

  • TheHside.... by the way, I was just wondering what the other macines that you had next to the ESX. On the left & right side of the machine. On the left looks like an EM-1( I think), & I dont know what's on the right, but it looks pretty cool. what machine is that? I was just wondering. Thanks.

  • Hey Thanks!

Well, what I used for this song was the ESX only, but the thing on the left is a guitar FX pedal a Moog MF-101 low pass filter and the one on the right is a digital multitrack recorder Fostex MR-16 which I use to record my tracks, hope that helped ;)

  • TheHside.... That was good. That was really awesome. I loved that beat. what did you use for that? I have the ESX as well and was wondering what you did to make the beat. I'm just curious. I also have the Emx as well as other machines I use to make some beats with. I have a Korg Electribe Kybrd., Yamaha MM6 kybrd. drum pad machine, Korg Kaossilator & a Mini KP pad. Lookin to get new stuff soon to make new beats with, but what you did with the ESX totally blew my mind. That was really awesome.;-)

  • Awesome dude!

  • holy mother of god... i dont know much about this but that sounds awesome man!

  • Dope, did you pick your arp notes before you started the pattern? Let me know, i have an ESX-1. DOPE vid man.

  • Thanks man :)

and here I'm just using the "Egypt" Arp Scale, with step-2 set as the centernote
