  • Zuckerberg looks and sounds like Lt. Commander Data except with red hair!

  • I just think that people are making too big of a deal about this company, the CEO and it bring worth $100 Billion when the company hasn't yet said they are making a profit. Suckerberg did not create some sort of life saving pill, creating cheap, non-polluting energy source, or solve out debt problem. he is basically doing the same thing MySpace is doing only differently and MySpace is going down the drain. I think Facebook is a fad that will eventually wear out and become obsolete.

  • I know it is SUPPOSED to be spelled with a Z, but I think an S sounds better.

  • Personally, the Government should have thrown Suckerberg in jail because they were giving away information which was against the privacy act, but since Suckerberg gave to Obama, I guess they just look the other way,

  • @Oneness100 Actually it's 'Z'uckerberg. It's spelled with a Z. Geezzzzz.

  • @TheKhaibear goldberg, zuckerberg, zuckerstein .... they all the same. scheming shylocks stealing money and ideas from aryans. lol

  • If they don't do their due diligence, then they are taking on the liabilities associated with selling illegal content, which is FAR WORSE than sharing content illegally.

But, unfortunately, we live in a society where illegal and unethical behavior is running rampant in corporate america because these companies don't have honest and ethical people running the companies and a legal staff to ensure that the companies are actually responsibly under the law.

  • Now, if Suckerberg, and everyone else in the download industry were intelligent, they would do the following,

    1. hire an entertainment lawyer(s)

    2. Develop a 100% perfect way to obtain a signature of validation by a registered entertainment lawyer representing the artists/bands that wish to sell their content on line along with copies of legal contracts granting distribution rights, etc. from each musician on each track the they want to post for sale on each site.

  • The only reason why I would consider Suckerberg a genius is being able to scam most of the population and the VC community. Just wait. 20 years from now, Suckerberg might not be worth anything. I see him as a flash in the pan. that's all. He isn't creating something that he is charging money from the user. Just the advertisers, which is a dicey business model. He is doing what MySpace has already been doing just a different look and feel. He is just getting a lot more publicity.

  • Now, the reason why I think Suckerberg isn't a genius to be looked up to is because if Facebook can't show a profit than this business model is just a scam because of all the hype surrounding it. MySpace is Facebook's predecessor and they are basically going down fast because they can't make a profit. I foresee the same thing with Facebook. If you were told you have to pay $5 a month for Facebook, would you pay it? probably not. Facebook has had problems with privacy. I just see FB a joke.

  • Not only does this violate DMCA Revision 2 laws, but it creates a potential huge mess in terms of how much money it can cost the company in legal fees and stature fines. Apple can afford to pay these fines. but some companies can't. The stutory fine for selling content ranges from $750 to $150,000 per violation. Potentially, one track can have several people's recorded performances that are violated because they don't have legal contracts granting permission for ownership and distribution.

  • No, I am not jealous. I would prefer not to be in the spotlight like Suckerberg. here is what I just found out and suspected would happen. Facebook is now allowing people to sell music downloads on their web site. mySpace did this. here is the problem. there are a LOT of independant musicians that create their own content, hire musicians and sell their music without having legal contracts in place because NOBODY really checks to make sure their stuff is actually legal to sell.

  • I wouldn't compare suckerberg to Steve Jobs or Bill Gates, Apple and Microsoft made products that people paid money for. Facebook just hosts a basic looking web site that has limited mail, blog, photo posting and messaging. BIG FREAKING DEAL!!! If Facebook started charging money for each account, they would lose accounts left and right. Facebook has to be very careful about privacy issues.

  • @Oneness100 1- You're right in a way; he's an accidental billionaire and his website can be recreated by almost any bright student with a computer science degree.

2- He's a genius regardless. And at the stage Facebook is at, there's more to it than just coding. And you sound jealous.

  • I just think there is way too much hype around this company and Zuckerberg. I think, based on what I have noticed, Zuckerberg is becoming one of those punk kids with too much money and not enough sensibility. The venture capital people are investing in it because it is becoming famous and when they go public, their stock goes up and then they'll dump their stock, get out and laugh at those that invested later.. Based on other social network companies, they have to prove their worth.

  • Billions? that's only on paper. remember the first go around of the dot com explosion? there were tons of so-called billionaires and then the dot com bubble burst and then the billionaires were then worth pennies. Facebook has to figure out if this company is going to have sustainable growth AND profit. they don't have the same ad revenue generation as Google. If people and companies actually paid Facebook to have their site listed high in the search results, but that won't happen,

  • Facebook isn't publicly traded and CEO's can only sell a small portion of their shares each year. The bottom line is that Facebook has money because of initial venture capital. Until they have a track record releasing their earnings, they seem to be burning through their cash. since their service isn't that great, they can't make that much money on selling ads like Google because it is a different model. To me, Facebook is a fad company and ove the long term, they'll go down just like MySpace

  • if i was mark i would sell Facebook now when it is still worth something, in 6-10 years nobodies gonna use Facebook.

  • I don't know why there is so much attention to Facebook. they haven't proven they can be profitable, so why bother? To me it is kind of like MySpace, and MySpace is pretty much going out of business. I have read that in the uk and US that people are actually canceling their Facebook page.

  • @Oneness100 then how come he's worth billions ?, i don't get your point

  • Charlie asked such basic questions. He should've asked about whether Facebook plans to build its own browser or what direction he thinks the internet is taking overall in terms of mobile vs desktop browser/consumption or native apps with web as a layer vs web-apps in-browser etc.
