I would've preferred it if Splinter & Shredder would've actually gotten into a fight (as opposed to that little thing we got).
Hopefully that'll be the case for the next TMNT movie.
As for the next TMNT movie, I think Ian Anthony Dale (Scorpion in Mortal Kombat Legacy) should play Oroku Saki/Shredder & Matt Mullins (Johnny Cage in Mortal Kombat Legacy) should be Casey Jones.
Ian Anthony Dale & Matt Mullins were bad asses in MK Legacy which is why I put them in my ideal cast.
I love the way they created The Shredder character in this first movie. The best possible costume design and colors, and the design of his mask & helmet and everything, along with the character itself: A criminal genius with incredible influence over NYC leading from underground through his ninja clan, and a master at the Art of Ninjutsu, which makes him a ninja at master level, so good actually to be able to beat the Turtles all by himself. Genius idea for the right Shredder choice.
@datrufe8309 I agree. Christopher Nolan has my vote. His Batman movies were awesome.
How about have the next TMNT movie be as dark & gritty as this 1 or have it even darker & grittier than this 1 was.
Oh & also, have the next 1 aimed at older audiences so that it can be dark, gritty, violent & have swear (or cuss) words & not have uptight parents complain about it being too inappropriate for children.
i burned out two VCRs watching this movie back in the day, even the second one. third one sucked, i still don't like it. Between turtles 1&2, batman, and back to the future 2, those old VCRs didn't stand a chance.
I was 10 when this came out and as much as things have moved on with CGI and a mix of Live action and CGI... The story, acting, score and Animatronic action still stands it's ground. God rest Jim hendson... How about they have another go at this - leave this first film standing and follow on with live action.
I agree there will never be a better TMNT movie than this, it was just superbly done, and you'll never be able to re-capture this 80s-early 90s feel in a new movie, my favorite part is 2:39-2:50, Leonardo holds out the longest and is the only one of the four Turtles to draw blood on Shredder, just like in the original comic. I'm really surprised how faithful this movie is to the original Eastman and Laird comics.
@darkcyeote OMG SO TRUE. This movie was so Bad-Azz. There will never be a TMNT movie to compare to this. This outshined so many movies nowadays too lol

How badass is Splinter, eh? He caught that dagger mid-sentence as if he was spreading toast on butter. Simple.

This is beyond a classic. I would kill to see another turtles movie done with as much raw edge as this one. Christopher Nolan anyone?

Ah, non- overly-choreographed fighting. I think it is much better than the fight scenes we see today
