I just discovered something else: This particular episode of Kate Loves a Mystery was from December 6, 1979, its last-ever telecast. NBC canceled the series a few days later.

Thanks for posting, I love that theme and while the show itself was fairly unnecessary it did introduce me to Kate Mulgrew who I've loved ever since.
