  • Very nice!

  • I prefer the choral but this certainly demonstrates how difficult a piece it is to count!! This is one of my favorite pieces but it was one of the hardest that I had to learn.

  • Really excellent - an inspiration. Thank-you.

  • I totally agree about this performance: Messiaen wrote this for "soloists or choir with or without organ", suggesting some freedom for practical use.

As I couldn't hope for a choral performance with my choir, I often play these heavenly harmonies on the organ as they sound simply magnificent.

By the way: your interpretation is very sensitive and humble: Messiaen would definitely agree.

  • O sacrum convivium is composed by Olivier Messiaen ( 1908 - 1992) for Choir (SATB). The organ part is only for rehearsel.

A pressure harmonium and a reed organ with expression have such vocal qualities that this piece, in my opinion, can be played on such instruments.

The score (with organ part) is published by editions Durand. (HL.50561225)
