  • I saw the vid with the really expensive set-up they have out there for sale called the heli chair, they hooked a wireless video camera and a reciever to it and then recieved the signal and flew it like it was a real heli. it was bad ass

  • Yeah, that training chair is really great. I saw one other in a video where it was a full scale set up with the petals for yaw and a big stick with grip for the elevator/aileron, not sure where the throttle one was, but I'd love to get one, lol. If you're training for real heli's get a single blade rather than a counter rotation. But they're the most stable and good for indoor stuffs. The bigger they are the more stable with the single blades, that's for sure! Happy flying :)

  • damn, i thought that kid was on a wheel chair, and felt sorry for him

  • cool, but no way are you ready to be fly us around lol

  • Poem + VIDEO ...... + video ..............T

  • yeah it fooled me as well i thought it was a spastic flying this toy about,,,,, do the chairs come with the helicopter when you buy one? and do they deliver?

  • The chair is a prototype that we built, and then integrated it into a commercially available counter rotating heli. It can also be integrated into any rc transmitter...so this could be used to fly the biggest gasser you could find. We use it more training/sim for the real thing than anything else.

  • Extremely cool, and something I thought about quite a bit... that is... wishing skills piloting an RC heli would transfer more directly to flying a real one. Nice step in that direction. I hope someone brings it to market.

  • Hey thanks for the good words. I am hoping someone wil help us take this out to the world. Anyone who is interested, contact me at roamingpilot at hotmail dot com.

  • Thought you were in a wheelchair at first. After a closer look BRILIANT.

Think I want to make one myself after I have figured out the electrics. Can you also fly a chopper with a stick transmitter?

  • to bad you really didn't make this

  • No, really, we did.

  • Hey! I have access to a one man ultralight helicopter which requires no flight training. I plan to take a few lessons but am limited in $ of course. Seems like this would be a great way to get familiar with the real controls of a helicopter. There are other simular simulators out there that fly RCs. Can you seperate the throutle control from the collective? Wouldn't mind paying to have one built...cost of about 2 hours of real helicopter lessons.

  • Hey, there is a way we are working on to separate the collective and throttle, although arent ultralight helis governed?

we can talk details if you want, email me at roamingpilot at hotmail dot com

  • Excellent... don't suppose you would share details of the control system ?

  • Nah man, trade secret.... ;)

...or, you wanna buy the technology? Then you can know everything about it.... :)

  • Lmao the first time i seen this video i thought it was a handicapped person flying a rc helicopter.

Then after reading comments i realized they duplicated the real controls.

    lmfao

Good video btw & keep flying.

  • thats amazing man... any way you could start selling them? I wouldn't mention this to the military before getting it licensed or anything.. they could easily have there technicians research and build one without giving you credit for it... this is amazing though.. it could actually change the whole rc world...

  • Hey thanks.

Currently one prototype exists. We could start making them, but it would have to cost about $400 USD, because we would make them one at a time.

In the meantime, still having a blast with it.

  • omg seriously man that shit ois like omg well done have u built the control system coz if so well done and i wnt one lol nice

  • yep, we built the control. Lets you fly an RC just like a real one...

  • I'll just let you know that its double rotors which leads to auto balance, and it does make it ways easier to fly. Must say they are fun, tho

  • Yep, I know. Counter rotating, easy to fly. the sweet thing about what we built is that you can swap in any heli/radio combination. Once I get better, I will move up to the Blade non cx. One step at a time for me.

  • Thats realy cool. what school are you plan attending?

  • Me? It will be Quantum Helicopters in Chandler AZ, but it will be a long time before I have the money to go.

Anyone out there know anyone out there who wants this technology? We are trying to license it to either the US military, the Chinese government, or the Indian government. This could save hundreds, thousands in training costs...

  • vvcool,

  • hehe yeah that's cool. Yeah I'll be starting helicopter flight school within the next 2 months so just a little while before i get my chance :D

  • interesting to say the least

  • Hey, thanks. It is so much fun, the real test will be when I get in a real R-22 and see how I do.

  • Note the device we use to fly this...it has a collective, cyclic, and anti-torque pedals, just the like the real thing. It is dimensionally accurate to a Robinson R-22.
