SS Wesley did the same thing in two voices (Tenor 2 and Alto) in "If thou wilt keep him" and got lamblasted for it after it's composition in the mid-1800's, but it's unique and allows the voices to reach naturally in their respective lines to the resolution in the cadence. They literally clash to resolve.
URGH! That dissonance between the F in the 2nd Tenor and the F# in the Soprano right before it resolves...yummy.
