It was German. This song is about IIRC one of the band members who topped themselves, thus Fade to Black is an homage to him. I think the fact that some prima donna formed Megadeth is an aside. As good as Dave " I am so much better than you guys, screw you" Mustard was, you can't have two colossal egos in one band. I don't speak fluent German though, so I can only guess. Long story short the song is gut ya.
