For those who dont kno what he is saying at the start of the video This shotgun is about as short as they make them for a normal person to just go buy with no license and this shotgun also has no way of making the pellets come together better so it will have about the widest pattern possible. look up a shotgun with a xx-turkey choke and a 28 in barrel :D

I would say a shotgun would be slightly better than a rifle for other reasons and I've never bought into this whole a shotgun will cover a wall at 50 feet myth. Also a shotgun will throw much more metal at your target and cause multiple wound channels instead of just one. If you live in a city buckshot will penetrate through fewer walls than a rifle.

Useing 9 and 8 pellet shots only in test lol. Try some 00 or 1 with 18+ pellets. They have better penetration and much wider spreds. If you are going to try and prove something is a myth you cant be bias in your sample set. Anyone useing a 8 or 9 pellet shot for home defense knows nothing about guns.

What choke would you recommend for federal 00 buckshot with their "flightcontrol" wad? I have an SLP Mark One, 22" barrel. It came with two flush fit Invector choke tubes. The chokes are labelled strangely. One says "improved -lead shot, modified-steel shot" the other is labelled "modified-leadshot, full-steel shot."

I watched your taurus judge video, and it almost seems like it was more accurate with 000 than the shotgun you're using. Probably because they were lined in in the barrel where the rifling actually made them more accurate instead of spinning them out of the barrel to spread them like with the 6's? If its with a shotgun, with buckshot, your max range is basically 30 yards, and therefore just hold dead on.

Farther than that, like 100 yards with a rifle, put it on the front edge of a zombie running full blast at a 90 degree angle.

@peanutapt I'm not hickock45 but I have plenty of experience with most shotgun ammo. Anything high brass which is typically magnum rounds, buckshot and slugs. But these produce much higher chamber pressures pushing a heavier projectile faster. In term causing a higher recoil. So yes the recoil is more substaintial from buckshot or slugs opposed to most bird shot

Hey Hick got a question. I have a Remington 870 Express 12 Gauge ive shot birdshot before while going skeet shooting ive never shot buckshot or slugs yet im still wondering if itll give more recoil. Thanks for the posts that you do, I have learned a lot. BTW, if you want a wider shot spread at close ranges use a rifled slug barrel. Only problem is that the pattern thrown out by the rifling is more dense at the outer edges causing the famous 'donut' shape. In a room or corridor it shouldn't make too much difference to lethality, but will help prevent dense shot patterns pass through interior walls and killing your parrot.

I like to use a ringed #6 shot on zombies. It's better than slugs and they're pre fraged. Low brass 2 3/4 shells work well with less kick.

As far as 12 gauge buckshot goes, you should look into the Hornady TAP ammo. I shot a target from 10 yards in my Remington 870, all stock, and got a pattern of shot in a 2 - 3 inch pattern. I was amazed that right at 25 yards, the diameter only grew to a 3 - 4 inch pattern. The cost is a bitch though. Cost me $12 for 5 shells. I have about 50 or 60 of the Hornady TAP ammo in reserve, and should the SHTF, I got another 300 rounds of Remington 00 buckshot ready, plus my .40 pistol w/ 1,000 rounds.

I ran a similar test on a Mossberg with a cylinder bore 18" barrel. The pattern is just about perfect for self defense against a four legged opponent. At ranges where the pattern has spread too much to be effective, I wouldn't consider most animals to be an immediate threat.

Might fall backwards, might fall forwards, might keep standing. There's so many variables in such a situation that a lot of things might happen. However the only way he's going to leave the floor is if he jumps! Think about how much energy it would take to make even a 100Kg man leave the floor for a split second. Then think about that same amount of energy going into the shooter's shoulder every time he fires off a round. That's smashed collarbone levels of energy.
