  • I wish i had an Ondes Martenot.

  • What's the name of the synth Greenwood is using here?

  • @Bahamutdordi It's an Ondes Martenot. Jonny also uses it for the violin sounding parts in pretty much every album since Kid A. How to Disappear, Pyramid Song...all that instrument. I want one so bad!

  • Ifc? I want kfc!!!

  • Those finger movements and gestures Jonny uses; I like it ;)

  • why does thom always fills in this part where makes these vocal crying sounds, starting at 2:54 min????? in my opinion he does this to often, along with other tricks he repeats in many others songs

  • @Kapojos Shut up. It's called expression.

  • Hi folks, I made a song inspired by Thom Yorke and would like 2 know ur opinion about it:) Check my account 4 it:) Thanks!!!

  • Epic

  • I think Johnny is using an Analogue Systems French Connection, not an ondes Martenot.

  • Thom ripped himself off , Final chords in the end are similar to the chords in the end of There there :P OFCOURSE i'm not saying it's bad, awesome song !

  • johnny played an ondes martenot through most of the Kid A / Amnesiac stuff, too.

  • holy shit it is an ondes martenot

  • what is johhny playing what kind of synth is that ?? anyone cheers??

  • @MrAbetron ondes Martenot

  • @loujack1000 It's a French Connection (much smaller) and not an Ondes Martenot here :)

  • Only emotions no superficiality. This music is pure.

  • As an artist all be a bad artist, I aspire to be like these guys. They don't care what we think but are still successful, I wish more artist or bad artist had that outlook. Letting that feeling in the pit of there stomach guide them.

  • this is amazing to emulate it would be impossible

  • this is amazing to emulate it woulad be impossible

  • What a fascinating instrument...I saw a photo of a Martenot & since this one didn't look like that one I was thinking this was something different (forgetting that there are probably many different designs for this wonderful & intriguing instrument)...

  • GENIUS :D!!

  • i fancy him

  • I wonder if this is when Johnny and Paul Thomas Anderson met (he was on the same show).

  • @JiffySpook PTA's been friends with the band for years

  • What is that Johnny is playing..? I know it's not the Martenot, but still so eerie :)

  • @Lykw1dSloth i think it might a an ondes, i dont know much about the instrument, i only know that u put a ring on to play it and looks like it might be

  • @Lykw1dSloth I think it's the Martenot... :)

  • What's that black disc shaped thing for that is in front of Thom's microphone? What a lovely song. Thumbs up to Radiohead

  • @outwestjake it's cleaning and softing his voice

  • @outwestjake a pop shield :)

  • потрясающая музыка, заворажывает с первых нот....

    if you ever come here

    ill buy you a beer

  • So much love for the martenot (or at least something that mimics it), but none for the rhodes. You guys should be ashamed.

  • that's good.

  • Thumbs up to the Henry Rollins Show....didn't get to keep it long enough.

  • Complex or simple. This is a false matter, Most people who expects novelty in every composition are simple looking the wrong way. Of course there's a lot of hush on the biz. But one just can't expect a pop band to be in the same level of contemporary "serious" music. Those fields just draw appart. And people on both sides have things to say artisticly that the other couldn't. Education has been stolen from the prior; real life and day a day matters are no longer accesible to the latter.

  • @youwantwaryouvegotit Haha, what an absolutely ignorant comment. It is ridiculous to suggest that there are two poles in the music world composing of either 'Pop' or 'Serious' Musicians. Certainly there are a plethora of genres embodied by 'serious' musicians. Regardless, Radiohead are world class musicians. Outside of the band Jonny Greenwood is the 'Composer-in-Residence' for BCC and has composed scores brilliant scores for movies such as 'There Will Be Blood'. Anyways, have a good one :)

  • Even if Tom Yorke is an unique musician, he is still the classic songwriter. Just a piano, simple harmonies and an even simpler melodie line. That's it. And it blows the room up.

Yes, the end bit reminds "There There". I bet there's a reason for it. Should read the lyrics for it.

  • the loast part is like the last part of there there

  • this is so nice !

  • I LOVE THAT¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • i would this song NEVER ENDS !

  • awesome band...

if u like Radiohead, u might wanna try : Watermind - "Not Again"

    P.S: Thom Yorke is a freakin´genius!!!

  • love me some Jonny Greenwood

  • This is not even music... this is the meaning of life going thru your ears.... It gives birth,,,<3 Thom!

  • What does Jonny use there?

  • @loxoxer analogue systems french connection

  • when i listen to his voice, his chords, his soul, i inexplicably start to cry.

  • jonny greenwood <3

  • haha he started the song again like he ws in rehearsal.. he did the same thing when i saw radiohead live in 2006 .. must be his thing ..

  • Proof that magic actually exists.

  • sounds a bit like a strangled cat , and not much of variation.

    overrated of course..as usual.

But more pleasant than 90 % of the popcrap of today anyway.

  • @ShareTheSphere

Come on. Like a strangled cat? If you wanna reduce it like that sure Bob Dylan sounds like he's holding in a giant shit. Guess what? I still like Dylan...."Not much of variation."---And?If you like the song why does variation matter? Not every song needs to be stairway to heaven to be enjoyable (to me)..."Overrated"--Again,why does this matter?

  • @ifinoxonifi Let´s compare music to food. This is like spaghetirings in tomatosauce.

Not very nutricious, but it´s ok.

For me every song actually need to be.. well .. "stairway to heaven" was not specially interesting either.

..any song has to have surprising moments -otherwise I get bored as I´m a composer.

I never understood the success with Dylan and others that are supposed to be "Giant superstars".

The world need enlightenment and to focus more on what brilliance in music is.

  • @ShareTheSphere

You don't understand why people like Dylan? Well, one famous reason are his lyrics. If you don't like it that's fine, but I recommend listening to more music to appreciate it for what it is,not just for complexity. Music does not need to be complex to be great.

  • @ifinoxonifi What decides quality in music depends criteria of the listener.

My self I write quite complex harmonies and of course I also appreciate music.

But if "hey , this I´ve heard before or this I wrote myself when I was 15" - are questions

that i get when listening, then it´s not intresting for me.

I see it as any type of knowledge , even if it´s art and has to do with expression.

And knowledge in listening is important in order for music to "lever".

  • @ShareTheSphere 2:New music will come when the world is ready.

The majority of traditional music listeners have been listening to the same kind of "popular music" for 60+ years now without the slightest wish for music to evolve to higher standards.

Complexity is a very hard thing to define.

but just take a cell in your body...looks simple but is very very complex.

Thats what i like to see coming music-wise..

Lyrics by the way is not music .We are talking about music.

  • @ShareTheSphere It is a conflicting argument i have with myself, but as a fan of the very complex sounds like Download, Radiohead, Delerium, I find that songs that are simple can be done be very pure at times. Take for instance Jeff Buckley, The Cocteau Twins, Elsaine, or even Dylan. I'd even say that simplicity is harder to attain than complexity. And that lyrics is music, its the way the lyrics are sung, it adds layers of melody, texture and tone to the rest of the sounds. But I feel ya both.

  • @dogback5 I think I feel some kind of honesty in Yorke´s expression that is a bit haunting and nice.

And he playes his own sort of repetative set of chords.

I heard a Cocteau twins´s song on the radio many years ago and bought three albums just to find that special song.

Enya is pretty simple but finds an expression..and so on

    I dig what you say.

Still...what´s gets me going is things like this:

    /watch?v=sMQUFvv0WRY

  • Thom Yorke & Radiohead are one of the very few reasons why i'm proud to be from Oxford

  • The outro reminds me of There There

  • "That was good"

    Understatement of the century

  • @ghostpuff hahaha thats what i always say about Radiohead/Thom Yorke (especially if they call them "Geniuses")

  • At 2:16, Thom: "I'm so awesome."

  • @wearebrontosaurus hahahahahahahahahahaha

  • @paranoidandroid505 I too was pissed with this one, but then got a real good pair of headphones and discovered such textures of sounds that made it my absolute favorite of the album, try it!

  • 32 people.... Oh stfu and listen to the music

  • It sounds like "There There" towards the end. Great performance; lots of emotion; very heartfelt.

  • Songs like this complete my life.

  • Whats Jonny playing in this?

  • @krispecker : Jonny plays the ondes Martenot

  • And finally, the sixth member of Radiohead appears at 2:50

  • 32 people forgot to hit the "play" button.

  • @avizzone

    U got that right!!!!

  • @avizzone omg, what a shame! how do you think, would thom yorke himself forgot to read your "comment", or would he just think of the dislikers openly?

  • @avizzone one person forgot to hit the "unoriginal" button.

    ohh wait you did too!

  • @avizzone losers!)

  • @0version
