@cdcc88 wrong. Most people think that, yes. But in actuality, it is wrong to use one or the other depending on what sound needs to be achieved. Generally, a pick provides for a brighter sound, while fingers provide for a more mellow sound. It depends on how you want your bass to sound in any particular song.

I'm sorry but the only reason you bought the Epiphone Thunderbird IV Gothic was because you couldn't afford a better model.. that Goth model has no life and is a dull boring bass... I've got the Gibson Thunderbird IV Standard Vintage Sunburst.. its got a better tone in my personal opinion, APPART from that its an epic cover

@PBL187 Still, I've played pleanty of Thunderbirds, and this particular one is probebly one of the worst, the problem with Epiphone Thunderbird IV's in general is the neck is Bolt on, the pickups are no where near as good as the Humbuckers they use on the Gibson's ... so you can't achieve a full on Thunderbird tone that you can only apparently get from Gibson.

Actually, its not a Nikki Sixx bass, its just a goth epiphone bass. The only signature bass I would buy is the Steve Harris Precision bass :D

different types of electronics. Basically active pickups need an electric source, a battery to power them and are often more expesive but they produce a higher output, wider dynamic range much cleaner tones and produce less noise. Passive pickups are less expensive and dont require batteries but has a lower output which depends greatly on the type of pickup and frankly, not as good sound overall. I prefer active ones =)

I played on a bass like that for a few months....it was decent....ive used better...how did u like the feel??? and i thought it was WAY to heavy to carry on stage and rock out with....but i also have a gibson les paul thats like 11 IBS

Yeah it is pretty and has decent sound but its freakin awful to play on stage with! Its too heavy in the front and my left arm always hurt like hell when playing, also its kind of thick on the neck which streches out the left hand too much :( you know what Im talking about xD
