Die-hard fans clap and cry because we remember the VOICE as it once was, and because we wish that it could be again... and it's great to just hear those lovely low notes she still has...
it must have been so hard for her to do this concert and not be able to sing all the leads or high notes.....I can't emagine what she has gone through.....What an AMAZING woman!
It really depends on how much of her voice is affected. Towards the end of her singing career in the 90s he voice was deepening anyway so she wasn't singing the really high notes anyway. Even if she can still hit one or two notes up there they wouldn't sound right in this context because the melody wouldn't jump up and down octaves. Hopefully one day with advancing medical techniques her voice may be restored!
Julie Andrews, if you ever go to a PC and see what is told about you, here is my testimony of your good work: you touch hearts far away. I am a 56 old Brazilian who saw ``The Sound of Music~5 times when was , what 10, 11 years old, with the patience of my mother who had to take me to the cinema downtown. Well, it was the best of all films I ever saw in my life. And you make me cry of ~saudade~a word we have in Portuguese that have no English equivalence but miss you .thank you, Mario Williams.
wait, I don't understand. If she lost her middle register, would she be able to sing her high register just the same? Or do you really need a middle register in order to reach that high note? If she didn't loose her low register, she can very well sing those low songs women sing! Like: Blues in the Night
The middle register is perhaps the most important part of a singer's voice. It's essentially the foundation of a singer's voice. I applaud her for what she's doing. Her voice was as she described it, "a freakish thing," when she was a young girl. She had a four octave register. As she aged it naturally deepened. So what she's doing now at her age, 74, is purely nostalgic. And that's wonderful. Lots of great memories.
Wow, I didn't think she was going to sound that good. There is no mistaking that voice. Gave me goosebumps.
