I always thought, when using the special gem, you should not get rid of the color that has the most gems because removing any other gives all those gems an even greater chance of matching up 4 or 5 in a row. If you remove the majority color you're left with few scattered other gems that may not even line up.

In this older version of the game, which he is showing, did it even work that way? I remember it used to be that if you swapped a hyper gem with another hyper gem, it would simply destroy all hyper gems on the board with no special point bonuses or anything. Total waste. I have personally seen though that with the new version, this move does clear the entire field.

Thanks for elaborating on the game instructions. I'm a visual learner, so this helped a lot. Especially knowing that multipliers are only formed with 12 in one go.

They have recently did an upgrade to Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook and some mechanics have changed, which I'm still trying to figure out. I think that multipliers are now formed when you match gems that make a chain rection of 3 or more, or if you destroy a gem that is formed by making a "T" or "L".
