They have more to lose.
In fact, when my city banned shady mortgage practices several years ago, the companies used their lobbyists and got the Republican legislature to overturn the ban, under the guise that government can't stand in the way of "the free market" and that people must WANT these subprime loans, so they should get them.

Because, bcs002, there is a belief that republicans believe in a white aristocracy that is far more deserving than any lower classes. Those lower classes include other races. Mr. Steele has been set in place to bring in as many as possible. No sensible black man will vote republican. Lowering taxes, banning affirmative action, and reforming education are Republican policies that help people (such as myself) who live in cities.
How was Governor Palin not qualified for the job? Hell, President Obama and most of the Democrats in Congress would fail high school economics.
Check your facts, Chairman Steele ran for Senate in 2006. The RNC holds elections for Chairman in odd numbered years.

It all comes down to results. This election at the end of the month is important for him and the party. If they lose it- which I would be very surprised if they did- there will be a lot of talk about him. Hey, I did not vote for Obama but the guy has to be given more time as well. For a young woman you are really into politics. It can cause stress so you know, keep it all in perspective. Steele is a smart guy. I think Democrats right now are in more of a shaky situation. In fact, when my city banned shady mortgage practices several years ago, the companies used their lobbyists and got the Republican legislature to overturn the ban, under the guise that government can't stand in the way of "the free market" and that people must WANT these subprime loans, so they should get them.

I agree about Affirmative Action. It just fed into Blacks' pathos to have what the whites around them were having and caused them to abandon their own universities. Yet at the same time, the Republicans weren't willing to work with Blacks on their own turf because that would obviously hinder their Southern Strategy and they would lose the vote of racists in the South.

Democrats take black people for granted because we will vote for them no matter what. The democrats don't have any more regard for black people than do the Republicans. I don't see it that way at all.
Dems use empty labels such as token, Uncle Tom, sell-out, etc. to describe any non-white Republican who threatens their dominance of the minority vote. I for one am sick of everyone believing that not being white automatically bars someone from being able to agree with Republican philosophy.
I can point to many Republicans who care about Civil Rights and aren't racist. Look at George HW Bush for starters.

Michael Steel deserves this. He was the LT Gov of my state of MD and is a great man.
Of course he had Oreo cookies thrown on him at political rallies (yeah there's racial sensitivity for you)
Its not going to make me join the Republican party any time soon, but at least I can say I respect the head of the RNC.

Because, bcs002, there is a belief that republicans believe in a white aristocracy that is far more deserving than any lower classes. Those lower classes include other races. Mr. Steele has been set in place to bring in as many as possible. No sensible black man will vote republican. Clearly its the party thats supported by racists and yet never been forced to denounce and reject them like Obama had to do to a non-racist.
