@slientmarksman LMAO Coast Guard does more work then the navy. whoohoo navy has missiles and nukes. cool story bro. We get action everyday and we save lives. Semper Paratus!!!
@skatersfriend I don't agree with your remarks that the Coast Guard does more work than the Navy. I have served in both services. The mission sometimes is similar, but not always. The Navy works just as hard as the Coast Guard but largely in a different capacity.
@slientmarksman how about its "were not the COAST GUARD, but we still have boats.." seriously. in addition to the other comments to this, the coast guard is older than the navy...so technically, Coast Guard=americas first navy.
@1790coastie I'm not trying to take a shot at the CG (I'm applying for CGA so I'm a hopeful future coastie myself) but wasn't the Navy created in 1776? Again I'm just curious, not trying to be an ass
@MisterBroMen Yes and No. The USN in the way it is used now began in 1797. USCG started in 1790 by Alexander Hamilton as the "Revenue Cutter Service", so it lays claim to being the United States' oldest continuous seagoing service. The Navy traces its origins to the Continental Navy (1775), which was established during the American Revolutionary War and was essentially disbanded as a separate entity shortly thereafter (1790). The USCG was the first continuous "Navy". My bad, I said it wrong. :/
infared's picking up a live one on the water, this is air force stallion c-14 to coast guard were picking up a fast moving contact heading 3 5 0 towards s. florida
this is u s coast guard quarter vallion requesting all your attentions at this time,
intercept is 1 8 0, speed 17 knots, make it so cheif scramble the helio!
since 911 weve went high tech over the waters and the dope runners have gone low.
GM is gunner's mate and cares for the weapons, BM is boatswain mate and drives the boats. I was an MK (Machinery Tech)and usually was the Boarding Officer leading the law enforcement teams while the BM stayed on the boat.
yup! sounds just like an MK they can make checking the oil, cleaning the bildges or changing some filters sound like fun. lol just kidding, there a couple MK's that know how to work on eng's
TACLET (LEDET), MSST and PSU all do law enforcement/port security. PSU is reserves (don't know if they still have the active duty unit), MSST & TACLET is mostly active duty.
Driving these boast are not very complicated, i talked to my recruiter, and he told me that why i wait for AST school to accept me, i could learn to operate these boats, he said it only takes like a month or two to get qualified
cant wait to join the coast guard!!!!!
