@bucky468 Bucky I think you are confused about the genre.
Silent films were silent, yes, but music was almost always played from the very start. Now that we obviously have the technology people have added musical soundtracks to prints and such, but its still a silent film. Silent: no talking, music on or off screen (Think Modern Times) Talkies: films that for the majority of the film have dialogue and sound

My grandmother was the first female soda jerk in one of the most beautiful theaters in town. I can remember her talking about the "talkies" and also Mary Pickford. Thank you so much for your upload. This is such an important piece of theatrical history. Kudos. Totally.
mary pickford was a gorgeous woman and a great actress. its too bad though that she wasn't a very nice person. or maybe she just didn't like joan crawford? lolol!
A real doll! Leslie Howard is very watchable and easy on the ears. I could listen to him read the phone book. The whole movie is on here somewhere because I saw it a couple of weeks ago. I think if you look either under Mary Pickford or Leslie Howard it shows up.
New to youtube? Often people do this so the uploads stay active longer> Instead of Gone With The Wind they'll put GWTW, or GWW. in the title of the post. Since there are several 8-10 minute parts they'll put GWTW 1, GWTW 2, etc.
I adore Mary Pickford, first time I have been this obsessed with a movie star in a long time, and what a beautiful voice she has.I love watching her silent films, but it is well worth watching her talkies just to hear her voice!
I love the middle and end of this movie. We get to see the woman not the girl. She should of held on longer. She makes you cry when her husband replaces her with another woman. She made 4 talkies. Coquette The Taming of the Shrew KIKI & Secrets
@theposhone I am very sorry to trouble xou, but you seem to know the DVD I am looking for for so long! Please tell,me where I can find it. Thank you, tannekid
@bucky468 That would be a silent film. Talkie is short for a 'talking' film...films out in 2010 are technically 'talkies'

@theposhone How can they be silent films when there's music playing? Most silent films were silent as in no speak or music in any way, shape or form.

Uh I thought talkies were films w/music (no speak) & then a caption in black. This doesn't fit the mold here.

Oh come on rchdsmth, Lillian Gish was great no doubt. But so was Mary. Don't make it a contest. Just enjoy what they both left us.

Lillian Gish totally blows Mary Pickford Hennessey of Pickfair out of the water. America's Sweetheart, bah!

TCM will be showing this movie and "Coquette" on April 8th (Mary's birthday).
They need to do a 24-hour marathon of her movies... =)

It doesn't seem possible that she was born in 1892. Very High class actress.
