  • LUCY & PAT DIMAURO - Saturday, January 28, 2012 (C.E.), 10:37 AM (Earth-Eastern Standard Time)

  • those were the good old days not now

  • Mary Magdeline of Jesus Christ Superstar sounds pretty good singing that song

  • now this is music.

  • This song defines the disco era and the 70s so well that I literally disassociate back to those times. I'd give up ten years of living in these shitty times to have 2 - 3 years from those times.

  • ...und das auch noch original.

  • Das richtige Lied für die Samstag Nacht...

  • Bellisima!!!!

  • she was a serious MILF

  • I will alwas love that song because it remains of the prettest girl I know, I was in Danville High school and that was our song and it will alwas be our song, I have not seen her in yrs but I think about her everytime I hear it

  • Saturday night Fever...Love it!!

  • She's Hawaiian (or partly Japanese I thought) and Irish descent isn't she?? Not Filipina. But Filipinas Do age great as well.

  • Wow what beautiful harmony and melodic singing with no autotune. got to respect her singing

  • 01:58 uma galinha levando um chute no rim ao fundo.

  • Filipinas are forever young,

  • she looks OLD. Fillipinas age poorly.

  • @metformin65 ...she isn't filipina dumbass. she's japanese-and-british. What a f$5king cunt thing to say.

  • Classy lady Nice to see a singer that doesn't have to dress up like a total slam pig to get some attention...but it was a different time I guess.

  • One of the few artists who sings with real feelings.Great Lady.Great memory.

  • Nice

  • she looks so pretty here

  • Linda música !

  • Great guitar music in the background, I should add!

  • Love this video...and thanks for posting this gem:) Yvonne Elliman is a terrific talent...and a rare beauty. At midpoint, her playful tousling of the hair between 1:28 and 1:32 displays her special way of communicating her poetry, of connecting with the audience.

  • MI FAVORITA MUCHOS SALUDOS A TODOS MIS COMPAS DE APATZINGAN MICH.....COMPADRE ANDRES VEGA ESTRELLA , GERARDO GARCIA ZEPEDA....

  • I remember her in Jesus Christ superstar (the only one that was in the movie and the original Album) then I saw her here a few years later, such a long time ago, I always thought she was really cute. She looks Filipina.

  • great song..the clothes...memories

  • 13 people have no souls. Or a good music taste.

  • I can't believe this was 33 years ago!!! great voice!!! I've never seen this footage until recently. She stole my heart at about 1:29s (the move with the hair).

  • super.

  • From 'Mary Magdalene' in The 1973 movie JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR to this, I believe it was only a matter of time before she broke through. Nice Job, Mrs. Elliman!

  • YOU GO GIRL! ALWAYS LOVED THIS SONG:)

  • I´am german. Excuse my translation.

One of the best Songs from the seventies.

  • One of the best Somgs from the 70ties.

  • Well I was born in 79 but that doesn't count. I'm an 80s baby.

  • I wish I lived in the 1970s.

  • Sounds like a Jewish name

  • I was in love with her when I was a teen..13 years old and gettin around awkward thinkin..."...Just a coupla more years ansd she's mine..." LOL

  • In one of these YouTube clips she alludes to being fed up playing Mary Magdalene. Who can blame her?

  • Good singer , she was in jezus christ superstar

  • @dakhilah82 Yup, she played Mary Magdalene and sang the hit "I Don"t Know How To Love Him", among others.

  • tijd om weg te dromen, bij de droom die was, wat een mooie stem en goed....

  • All that make by Bee Gees shine like a gold...Great Yvonne´s voice too...

  • heerlijk.. echt gewoon heerlijke muziek

  • my life goal: to go to a song, read comments w/out Bieber comments, I don't care for him either but Geez, is that as good as you have ?

  • 12 people don't like the 70s.

  • Yvonne is an amazing artist....I love this song. Thanks for the great memories.

  • amazing song... i remember that when i was watching tony manero..

  • Gordon Bennett, she's fit!

  • What's interesting about this video is that most people who perform on Top of the Pops lip synch. She sang LIVE and sounded great!

  • Yes. If you know history. Indians from Americas came from Asia Trhough Bering Strech. I had a latin girlfriend that was like this sweety pie. Yummy.

  • No dancing or jumping around by the singer or otherwise trying to sell a song with visual flash. Just superior vocal ability. Long live the '70s.

  • @57highland

This is truly, a musical, gospel verse!

  • love this song !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • MY SONG!!!

  • "It doesn't matter how I cry my tears of love are a waste of time

If I turn away, am I strong enough to see it through?

Go crazy is what I will do.

If I can't have you I don't want nobody Baby.........."

  • This is real music, great song! (8 biebers fans dislike this) xD

  • @Milkito101 Yes, this is real, courtesy of the BeeGees. They could definitely write a real song. Bieber needs better writers.

  • @Milkito101 You are right and Bieber fans would not know real music if it jumped out and bit them on their backsides!!.......What a fantastic song and a REAL woman!!

  • @Milkito101 ...or lady caca's fans.

  • @SuperBoneville SO COOL to join the lady caca haters!!!

  • @GOLVEL Well enjoy it then.

  • @SuperBoneville Jijiji... I so do... and hope we are more and more!!!

  • Its a darn shame, should have been Dawson and Joey walking in the sunset...............Pacey is a douchebag ,what kind of guy steals his best friends girlfriend??? With friends like Pacey who needs enemies!

  • my first real love dedicated this song to me, think she was trying to tell me something? Love Claudia

  • For the ones who didnt pay attention, this is the Original song, the Bee Gees cover. Just for the record.

    (and a classic)

  • @SuperPais This lady sings it well. However, to state that Yvonne's version is the "Original song" is to miss a very important part of the story; i.e. that the Bee Gees wrote it! They have also written songs that have been first-released by Dionne Warwick, Dolly Parton, Diana Ross, Dolly Parton, Frankie Valli, Barbra Streisand, Jimmy Ruffin and Celine Dion. Had Otis Redding lived, then he would have been the first to release "To Love Somebody".

  • @turnitback I think the Bee Gees wrote the song, and give it to this singer, Yvonne Elliman - If that its true, this is the original version.

And yes, Diana Ross had the original (and superb) "Chain Reaction" version, a song made by the Bee Gees. Regarding more songs, I dont know but you can tell us. Celine Dion is great, but I think she dont wrote song. Elucidate us of more stories. But I think I was not wrong, regarding Ivone original version of this one.

  • @SuperPais You seem to miss my point. While you were correct to say that the Bee Gees were not first to release this song, you needed to say rather more than that theirs was merely a "cover". There is much, much, more to it than that.

  • @turnitback ??? I was right in what I said, you troll.

  • @SuperPais If the The Bee Gees did one of the Beatles' songs, then THAT would be a cover, you semi-literate twerp. How do you like the name calling now it's in your direction? The problem is that, in your case, it seems to be about right, as it's impossible to have a debate with you with resorting to abuse.

  • @turnitback Again, you semi-literate twerp. I was right in what I said. The original song, cannot be the second release. Even a stupid person understand this. Of course, the situation seems a little weird, when is the composer of the song, who do the 2nd or 3th release of the song. But the original is the original - the first release.

  • @SuperPais The fact is, my friend, that you misrepresented the situation by omission. We could argue all year about the meaning of "original" and "cover", but it will not change the fact. I was merely adding relevant points. Sadly, it seems that you find debate unacceptable.

Having said all of that, I regret my "semi-literate twerp" remark. It appears that English may not be your first language, which probably explains the way you write. I should not have made the remark; I apologise.

  • @turnitback I was right, and you were wrong. Period. Just take your pride and ego away

  • She is from Hawaii...and she is beautiful with a #1 hit.

  • the late seventies were by far a great period in music, classic song.

  • she was a cutie!!!

  • Anytime there's an Asian gene in there, the woman is always strikingly beautiful. Yvonne Elliman and how about Kristen Kreuk, Lana from Smallville?

  • Over 20 years ago, Arnold Swarzenegger appeared on Arsenio Hall. He was suppose to show a clip of his latest movie. Instead he played a joke on Arsenio and his audience. It was a clip of he and Sylvester Stallone dancing to this song. One of the funniest TV moments I watched.

  • Lub it (:

  • @qualqui - Yea! You got that right. Glad more people are pointing that out.

  • @qualqui She's from Hawaii

  • @rufus317 thanx mon for pointin' this out,....she's AWESOME!! = )

  • @qualqui well, I know lots of Mexican women and I can still tell she is Asian and European. I guess when people are mixed race they can look different ways to different people. I am like her, Asian and European so maybe that's why I could spot what she is pretty fast. By the way, she is from Hawaii and over there they called people like that hapa. So let's hear it for the hapas! She's a great singer by the way and cute as pie!

  • @qualqui Yvonne is Hawaiian. Continuing a long line of talented musical artists from the South Seas, along with Don Ho, , The Mary kay Trio, Bruno Mars, and The Jets

  • @pvcjazzpants You're absolutely right pvcjazzpants ! I was 12 too. 1978 was the year I started listening to radio stations, checking charts and buying records. I always believed I could not be more lucky by having such a great music everywhere. Bee Gees, Donna Summer, Suzi Quatro, Earth Wind and Fire, Andy Gibb, Olivia Newton-John........ Look what kids have to listen to nowadays.....I just get depressed. Late 70s , what a glorious time to be a Kid!

  • @morik1 I'll third that opinion! I as only 10 years old at the time, but my brother was 13 and buying music, plus slightly older cousins/ friends were just starting to drive and bring us to record stores, also gave us more radio airtime to listen. SOOO relieved to see what you wrote, since I have been trying to explain to younger folks that something special was happening between late 70's and early 80's. Music, film, etc... were being made more with heart and soul, less with accountants.

  • Great post! And I just read she's still alive, for some reason I thought she had passed away.

  • love this song too...except it s a bit too fast from the regular version you hear all the time.

  • this is the song,dreammmmmy

  • Great song, remember listing to this with my dad driving down to visit my grandma

  • I was born n the 90's but brought up with he 70 's & 80's era love this jam

    .

  • I was born n the 90's but brought up with he 70 's & 80's era love this jam.

  • class pop music from a class lady. great lyrics, still in love with my first love, don't want anyone else.

  • Those audio TOTP bumpers wreck the song, though. I think the scat singing was a touch TOO much, but it breaks up the versions so that each one's a bit different

  • This is the ONLY time pop music is actully awesome.

  • looks like she just sang yesterday, her haircolor, makeup, clothes are what's happening in fashion now.she's pretty and ssings well

  • I've had this song stuck in my head all day at work!! Eventually found out it was this!! nice song! Thanks for posting
