My girlfriend and I love geocaching together. A new geocache was placed a couple of months ago in a park by where I used to live. I used the new cache as an excuse to get us there, and after finding the cache, we sat in the park enjoying the sunset and evening air. I then proposed there in the park, and she said yes! Great moment!
I've just discovered geocaching and I think it's incredible! It's a worldwide treasure hunt in different locations. When I first logged on and typed in my post code, I thought "There's gonna be 5. 2.4, 3.6, 4.8, 7.2 and 10.1 miles away... holy crap!" There were so many so close to my home! Everyone should get geocaching.
Some friends took me out geocaching today. I'm hooked!! I had no idea this even existed. We went after three different caches and I found two of them. I'll be downloading the app to my droid and heading out again! Cya on the trail!
In 2011 Rev3 Adventure will be holding two organized events for Geocaching. The Geocache event will allow GPS enthusiasts to test their cache finding skills. Ten caches will be placed throughout a park. Each cache will contain treasures that must be collected and returned to a home base to qualify for a finishing prize. Participants will be provided coordinates and optional spoilers at the beginning of the course. For more information visit rev3adventure.
I started a few weeks ago together with my girlfriend. Yesterday we went a memorial really close to where we live to get the coordinates for a so called "mystery cache". We never even knew it was there and we live here for over 7 years now!
Geocaching really can show you places you would have never visited otherwise.
You guys must either live in really small towns or in an area without a lot of geocaching fans. I don't live in a really big area, but there are at least ten within a two mile radius of me, and at least fifty in my town.
Interested in learning to geocache? Check out a GEO-GET-IT! event. This event pairs experienced cachers with beginners on a hunt for 10 caches in a predetermined area. The teams take the lowest available #coin from each cache. The team with the lowest total of #s wins! Fun for the entire family! This is a run of strategy and skill for the cachers. So, come join us and GEE-GET-IT!
This is so fun! There is things everywhere and no one (mugglers) know about it. Feels so cool in a way. I started a couple of days ago and I've found new places that I've probably never would have gone to.
very vell done video! great for beginners! and if anybody ask me since moment what´s gc? I´ll play ´em this video :D its much more better than keep telling them "it´s about looking treasures hidden in...." you know it :D

Agreed, i found my first 100 without a GPS! It's easy without a GPS but once you start hiking or Geocaching in the woods and more remote places, the GPS is really needed because maps and Google earth can't give you as good point of referance as then can in a city or town.
Map and compass is not as accurate here as google map is not that accurate either. For compass and map work there is another type of game called Letterboxing that uses map and compass. I have found geocaches with out my GPS ....its not impossible but it MUCH harder!!!
Thank you so much for making this video. Now I can direct friends to this, rather than explaining caching with the "looking for Tupperware in a bush using billion-dollar satellites" line.
Simple and to the point! ... and the explosion of popularity continues... Fun, Adventurous Game. Been to and found many places we would never have discovered!
I found one by accident with my friend... :D
