@ciscodan123 Are you the one filming? And do after some time on a carrier you get bored to watch that or everyday is "fun" to enjoy those impressive stuff?
Now, THAT is goddamned SEXY!!! Talk about taking your breath away!! The intelligence, hence the precision, not to mention THE BRAVERY........Holy heck, these brave men are the epitomy of heroic....and sexy!!! AMAZING!!! God Bless you all!!!
@ciscodan123 That is not true. If it was true then a carrier would never get to where it needed to go. Also the carrier is moving at 25 knots forward so even if they are at a 10 not downwind then due to the speed there will still be a 15 knot upwind. There might be a cross-wind but the planes are heavy and the pilots are highly trained. The carrier does not attempt to move into the wind.
@MikeTaylor8755 I can maybe agree with wind, but are you naive enough to think there is a current that can move an AIRCRAFT CARRIER? Besides the ocean doesn't have small currents like that they are large and I am speaking of the wake, the helmsman is turning the shit out of the wheel
@tstar7777 You are kidding right? Have you ever seen an aircraft carrier on a shakedown cruise before it is delivered to the Navy? No you haven't. They fire up the reactor to 105% and push the throttles all the way up. They then steer the ship are hard as possible port and starboard until it LISTS. The hell it can't make sharp turns. This is not current you taint.
This must have been taken up in teh signalmen's tower. I see the big eyes on the left of the screen. I hung out there alot with them on the Kitty Hawk CV-63. This is where they kept the "Hog Log" A book of achievements over seas from various ports of the women we ahhh... Met.lol
Thats in FSX but not in the real ..so don't steal a real one then land like stupid then you will come here and blame me .. if we say you are still alive
@Maverick747uk This is cake for a Navy pilot. Many landings are in less desirable conditions with crosswinds, or worse when an ocean swell instantly rises the carrier a few feet or drops it.
Im in the us airforce great landing

How do they detach the wires (that the plane has to catch) from the plane after it lands? Please reply back. Thanks.

Do you know what happens to Navy pilots that cannot master carrier landings? They are transferred to the USAF. LOL

@alienhuman actually you end up not flying and serve the US Navy for 8 years doing something.

i dont understand how the chain/rope thing works.. it just catches onto the bottom of the jet?
Dustin2424 4 months ago
@Dustin2424 Ah no, the jet has an extended hook. So if the hook fails to catch the chain/rope, the pilot quickly takes off again
timothyngim 3 months ago
@Dustin2424 there's an arrestor hook that the plane has when the gear is down, this catches the wire to help stop the aircraft

WTF is the guy doing steering the ship? If you look at the wake, it appears as though he's turning the wheel and zig zagging
592220 10 months ago
@592220 You have to keep the ship steered into the wind.

@flyinhigher1000 Yup, a carrier is like a sail in the wind.

@ciscodan123 eh I think he's trying to lose the bogies - they're just too fast.
foxtrot789 2 months ago
@ciscodan123
592220 is correct, you need to maintain wind speed over the deck so as the wind directions changes so does the direction of the ship.
fchanMSI 2 months ago
@ciscodan123 how come it has to be steered into the wind?

skipplet: It's not quite so simple. You can't put the velocity vector ("flight path marker") on the 3 wire, since the ship is moving ;)
