What is your like preffered choice. Are you more on the Aegis or Commuters side? I am needing a great amazing case. Hopefully one that will hold up like the Gumdrop Case for my iPad2. (I am rough sometimes) Please which one is the strongest and best?
It simply depends on the phone in question. Generally speaking we prefer the Aegis for its overall looks and feel, and the Commuter for its size and reliability. Most people don't consider warranty on their cases to be of any real use, but OtterBox products have a no hassle 1 year return / exchange from date of purchase which many have exercised and been happy with.
So if you need the protection, generally the Commuter is better. But the Aegis looks a lot funner.
The only case(s) we can think of that will accommodate the DROID 3 with an extended battery are universal "pouch" style cases. These vary in size and are meant to hold a phone in its entirety, but you can not use the phone while inside.
I have this case and like it a lot, although, I have had to replace it because the faceplate cover broke the first time I doped it in a parking lot, but that being said, It did what it was supposed to do and it protected my phone.. I was wondering if you could tell me how to take the front cover off so I can install a new screen protector..
All front snap on cases use "teeth" or "hooks" to attach to the front slider portion of the phone. Slide open your DROID 3 phone and look underneath the edges of the top piece.
You should see these large flat "hooks" protruding out. Simply bend those slightly out of shape and push the piece outward to loosen the grip and detach it. If you need more specific instructions, Otterbox is always willing to help you with their CS staff.
No unfortunately it will not. Standard OEM charging cradles for many smartphones out there only accommodate the "naked" phone - meaning the original phone without anything else on it.
For your reference, the size of the Commuter case for the DROID 3 is:
It has a decent grip to it due to the slightly exposed silicone on the sides.
As for leaving it in your car, we can't say how safe that is depending. It will survive the impact if thrown off a car seat or dashboard for example no problem - but direct exposure to sunlight and other perils is another story.
@ps3dude14 ive heard of people with the defender case hearing their phones slide off their car, watching their phones get run over, picking them up and they work just fine
Yeah it's fine. In the middle / end of the video, we try and quickly show you that slide operation of the phone is not affected nor is the top row of keys blocked by the case.
The only brand we know of that makes cases for extended batteries (across multiple smart phones) is Seidio, and they have yet to release anything for the DROID 3 at the moment. Universal pouch cases are the only way to go at the moment for an Extended Battery DROID 3 - and that's probably not what you're looking for if you want a "play-through" style cover.
Unfortunately all Otterbox cases do not accommodate extended batteries of any type - and were manufactured for the naked phone itself or "as is" as Otterbox would call it.
would the droid 3 fit in a belt case with the otterbox on it? Or I guess a better question would be is there a decent belt case or clip that would work with the otterbox on the droid 3?
Most belt clip holsters by themselves out there are meant strictly for the DROID 3 phone only without a case on them. The easiest thing to do would to wait and see if Otterbox will release the Defender case for the DROID 3 which will include a belt clip holster to use with the case.
If you are looking at universal belt clip pouches, simply measure their dimensions against the case to see if it will fit. The dimensions of the Otterbox Commuter are 130.3mm x 71.7m x 17.3mm (LxWxH)
Mine just came in today. Everything the narrator said is absolutely correct. i have noticed that the the bottom half of the phone is slightly larger than the top half now but it's not really a big deal. Against standard cases, the otterbox is noticeably smaller. I think the commuter series is ideal for any user, and it's also the only one available for the droid 3 through otterbox.
Ohkay. Thanks. I am not able to directly reply because I am on my droid now. Haha so I will go with the commuter with protection thx soo much!

Otterbox has made an official statement on their "Q&A" section for the Droid 3 that the Defender will not be released for this phone.
