  • how much is it

  • how in the heck do you actually buy this thing i have been looking through their website and cant find anything.

  • @kcmac1991 - I know Cabela's was one of their biggest retailers--not sure why it is listed as not in stock.

  • Damn thats awsome, wish I had one.

  • Does anyone know how to repair these boats? My boat has a 10 inch crack near the seam? I've ordered a plastic welder as my next attempt on a repair.

  • @TheWerkSpace warranty? how old is your hull?

  • @Galadrm I bought it second hand, so I don't know its age. My plastic welder arrived in the mail. I bought some polypropylene welding rods. As soon as I get some time off, I will try to make the repair.

  • ATB - long way home...best old school trance song ever!!!!

  • @damianraver - WORD! I love how this mix just builds to crescendo!

  • At $2400 for a 10 footer, I think I'll keep my 10 ft Landau aluminum jon boat, probably lighter, and I don't have to put it together when I get to the water! I put a 4 HP outboard on the back and it runs like a scalded cat. These things are too pricey for me.

  • Flatzout must just be here for entertainment.

Kayaks are fine for some purposes but let me know when they make one that can do all the things a portabote can do and still fold flat 4 inches and be powered with a 10hp engine for fishing in a place like baja.

  • I didn't know IKEA made boats.

  • @Flatzout

not everyone has the room to store normal boat and you don't have to drag this around on a a trailer

  • no v8 ?

  • hi there, can this boat toe things like dingys, water skis etc and also what comes standard with it? thanks

  • no fish!!!!!

  • It's good boat, how much?

  • Hi, I Just recently bought one and have no idea on how to mount it on a car.. Any advice? I have a jeep that has mounts that are parellel with the car..

  • @jsizzle4o8 Most vehicles with roof rails need crossbars. I'm sure there are factory one you can buy or Thule/Yakima make some. Factory ones usually look the best (to me) but the aftermaket ones typically have a lot of accessories you can buy to customize the rack. You will have to see if it is stable enough to avoid using fore or aft tie-downs. Generally the 12fter on a small vehicle (ie. small crossbar spacing) can problems.

  • @mishmosh2000 What about an ordinary 4 door car with no rails on top? How could this work with a 10foot portabote

  • @radlations If you do not want to buy a rack for your sedan, they do sell universal foam block mounts for kayaks that you just plop on your roof. Some kits like the one Malone makes have the straps too.

  • Comment removed

  • @erikhicks07 ohh thanks.. How exactly do you have it tied down? With ratchet straps?

  • how can i buy this im from asia

  • how much is this

  • That's pretty cool. I want one.

BTW, do you listen to techno dance club music while you're fishing, or do you only like it as a background soundtrack to your collapsible boat videos?

  • These things are so cool, how much are they?

  • @mrpotatoman6 Not cheap dude! Check Cabela's website or a dealer near you for current pricing. Seems like the price goes up every year.

  • SWEET!! i am gettin mine soon. i and doing a test drive with a PB rep next thursday. this boat is the greatest invention ever! portable with any car! sturdy, durable. i live in renton wa and have family in Chelan! good bye trailer! my father flipped his 12ft aluminum boat with my brother in it at Lake Washington. They swam back to shore with my brother's hands around my dad's neck at 12am! he claims he was reaching for a bobber. im buying him one too! and it's not expensive at all.

  • I would love a video on how to unfold one of these on a 30ft sail boat. I am thinking of getting one as a dinghy.

  • Hi, mishmosh2000: what's size for the boat in the video? 12' or 14'. think to buy one, but not sure the size. thanks.

  • I noticed you only show launches with a trolling motor attatched, but make it look like you have a 9.9 in the shots just before you put in/take out. Is that because it's not as easy as you want people to believe?

  • @Ndemu I can assure you that there is no intent to conceal any shortcomings (if there were any). The dolly is NOT heavy duty but the portabote is pretty light, even with motor. The video footage was shot at 3 different lakes--including one electric only lake. The motor is I think a 4.5 or 5.5 hp in the video. Kenny G got a 9.8 hp more than a year later. He launches and exists the same way just about every time--with porta-dolly at a boat launch.

  • @mishmosh2000 how much are they

  • where can you buy one of these

  • fucken porta bote is expensive! shit 1300-3000 dollars! NOT for the COMMON fisher who just wants to have fun

  • @bakeee --get lost lowlifer.

  • I just got my this month and I got the exact one like yours. Check out my little video I uploaded. Happy Boating yall =)

  • are porta boats good

  • Do you need to apply for boat licence or some kind of permit for it?

  • @nancyweeal Yes, you must register you boat according to the laws of your state.

  • @mishmosh2000 State of Louisiana doesn't require license if you don't power it with a motor but these are hard to paddle cause you have to use the oars wide boat very stable you will have your back to where you are going and that is a pill these are really best with a motor so please by all means go to a notary when you buy one of these and get your paperwork cause the state of La is a real pain in the rump to deal with these people are the most OBTUSE people on the planet.

  • This is a truly amazing patent and solution for many boat funs.

  • this is the worst song i've ever heard

  • Thats the worst comment I've ever read.

  • My 12 footer is about 11 years old, and I use it for duck hunting. I'm amazed that the floor still stays absolutely dry. I assemble it at home and car-top it with 16' rachet straps that loop over the boat and inside the car. I do 60 and 65 with no strain. I stand the boat straight up on its stern behind the car before I push it up/slide it down the car roof - one man. The boat takes a lot of abuse; I just drag over whatever to get it to the car or to the water. Maybe I'll do this on video.

  • I would love to see a video of that!!!

  • @alemanportorro how much for one??????how much do they cost....???

  • Also I find the bote is much more responsive when turning than a normal tinny. Good on the water but can be a hassle when lifting the motor to come into a busy boat ramp.

With my 12 ft I have a tohatsu 5hp and with me only in it I could be going 25km. 2 more and we are down to around 13 km/hr. I also have to adjust the motor angle depending on the load.

Very efficient. You get a lot of range.

THEY NEED TO SELL A BAG TO PUT ALL THE SEAT AND BITS THAT WILL STRAP NICELY TO THE RACK .

  • I own a 3.7 m, 12 ft porta bote. They take a a bit more time and effort to erect and dismantle than the website suggests.

They dont show all the space the seat and transom take to store , just the flat hull.

The porta dolley is a vbit flimpsy and I have had one drop off as I wheel my bote in and out of the water a few times.

I like mine but its not as streamlined and as convenient to use as they make out.

I am going buy a cheap 2nd hand trailer and leave it erected for local use

  • I live in the tropics and have a lot of sun here. Any idea if better shades are available? i.e. to cover the whole boat area. thanks

  • They have a shade that works pretty well. I think it covers only two benches though.

  • ok thanks - I saw that on the website. Has anybody tried any other shade which can cover more than 2 benches? Thanks

  • thank you for your advice! cheers!!

  • whatcha do to secure it? I own a ford escape, any suggestions?

  • You definitely need a rack of some kind. The 14 ft portabote is stiffer than the smaller versions. My buddy does not use a front tie to stabilize the front but you should use one if there is a lot of undulation on the highway. Get a pair of heavy duty racheting straps.

  • how much is the 14 ft portabote

  • It is about $2500.

  • Where you get that rack? for your suv?

  • Saturn dealer. It is a factory accessory.

  • What is the boat made out of and is it very heavy.

  • The boat is tough and made of thick polypropylene. The 10ft hull is about 60lb. The largest 14ft'er is just under 100lb. They are manageable with 1 person but better with 2.

  • how much did that boat cost

  • Despite the economy, the price of these boats seem to be increasing each year. According to Cabela's, they cost anywhere from $1870 - $2450 with the boat pictured (14ft'r) being top of the line.

  • That's expensive. I can buy a very good 14ft boat with a trailer for $2000 now a day. This doesn't include engine. Who would want to assemble this thing. If the boat was $500-$1000, then it is worth it.

  • WOW I NEED ONE HOW MUCH IS IT ?

  • by the time set that up i will have cought a fish already seems like a bunch of fucking around i just put my motor on and back in done take 2 min tops

  • I'm with you on this. I have a Jon boat and all you do is hull your boat in the water, jump in and turn your motor and come back to shore. Put an anchor at the shore and take your car/trailor out of the water and park. After that, you walk to your boat and off you go to fishing.

Hell, If I have to take 30minutes to set this up and put my thing on the boat. I might as well just fish on the shore. LOL!

  • You are forgetting us city boys don't have room for a boat and trailer. Folded up, the Portabote takes up as much room as a ladder. If I had room, I would definitely get a boat/trailer!

  • i have a 8 footer with a trolling motor lol

  • doubt weather it would survive my 21stone body..probably sink..

  • Nice demo and crystal clear video. Thanks.

Having said that why would someone looking for a folding boat want to listen to "clubbers music" throughout a 6+ minute video. It was all I could do to watch the entire thing.

  • Had my 12.5 Porta-Bote for 10+ years and love it!

Fished with it in huge Missouri river lakes, small lakes where no one else can get to, Mississippi river, small rivers you name it.

When my original transom rotted I bought one of the new plastic ones and but sent it back. Instead I just made a new one out of 3/4" marine grade plywood. Had to modify the seats underneath where the wires attach, overall I am very very happy with it.

Never have to worry about it flipping over, trust me I have tried.

  • what size is this boat it looks like a 12 footer

  • It is indeed the 14 footer--which in reality is not much bigger than the 12...just a fair bit sturdier.

  • I've been fishing in mine for ten years. Has plywood seats and not as tricked out as this.....but a great boat for launching where there are no ramps!

  • I bought one at boat show paid alot and cracked second year also the transom and seats hollow plastic. they say for bouancy but it is just gargage split with presser of motor claps only put a 6hp on 14ft company did not stand behind product blamed miss use easyest to explain my problems anyone else have issues

  • Sorry to hear. I definitely know the benches can crack if you stand on them. And as you pointed they and the transom are hollow plastic.

  • Is this thing good to cross open water in lakes? I am a poor college kid looking for a cheap but safe way to exercise my love for fishing =)

  • Definitely! Does great in flatwater. For large waves, it might not be the best.

  • Actually I would rather be in a Porta-Bote than a small(12-16') aluminum boat. It absorbs more of the waves and if somehow you get it to flip over(very hard due to the bottom suctioning to the water) it will float and flips back over easy.

I have had mine out in 4+ foot waves, it wasn't fun but I was never in fear of my life - and I still caught fish.

My son and I can stand on the same side and pull my 70+ pound dog back in the boat without fear of it tipping over, try that in an aluminum boat.

  • beast!!!

  • You know what would be neato!

If sombody figured out how to make a boat where the trailer for pulling it was also used as the frame. Just back it into the water, unhitch, and then somehow flip the tires and hitch neck up out of the way. Maby into a recessed area. Or over the rail into the boat where flip down seats covered them and hid them and reclaimed the space. Also a paddle wheel or sail version would be sweet!

    Thanks!!!!

  • WOW! That's cool!

Hey, I bet the navy seals could use somthing like this!

The wheel thing is an awsome idea.

  • Where can i buy one of these xD So cool :D

  • alectraproject the australian dealer is portable boats australia their in nsw they have exactly the same model in 9 10 12&14ft but they sell only one color, off white,

  • Much Better Than an Australian Version by the same Name. This one is a boat, the ones seen here are sort of..............not? Well, maybe a different model or version of this one. Who is the Agent in Australia?

  • Really? I thought PortaBote was available worldwide. Sorry, I do not have distribution info.

  • how much was it?

  • 10 ft to 14 ft range from $1870 to 2450 currently.

  • Craigs list has one in New Orleans La for $1200. with all the extras.

  • Consider that boat sold I plan to buy it in the morning. Contacted the owner and will see it 10;30

  • It is loaded on my car as we speak plan to take it for a paddle in the am. $900 for the hull $300. for the acessories.

Its used but I will get a title so I can use an outboard.

  • Cool. What size did you end up getting?

  • 2006 14'. Not sure if warranty is transferrable but they were very helpful in aiding with the sale since the owner lost the papers. They will mail him a title for $25. it is in the works. Next step outboard.

  • Great deal dude! What accessories did it include? I can't imagine a 2006 would be anything other than great condition. Congrats!

  • ok man thanks for the the reply and the advice, all the best

  • great bote just got my 12ft today took a bit of time to put together by myself just a matter of routine and i should be able to half that time. could you tell me what kind of seat addons are they. great vid

  • Congrats. 12ft'er is a great all-around size and still easy to handle for one person. And yeah, you'll definitely get better with the setup. The setup in the video is def a little noobish and now done much faster.

The seats? Check out "canoe seats" at Cabela's. Very nice quality, padded seat bottom, light weight Alum frame, snap on installation straps--VERY COMFY.

  • Make it a habit of washing and wiping down your bote after each use. Make sure to air dry it thoroughly before putting it on a shelf for storage--moisture behind the foam will reek if not!

  • are those two sets of oarlocks I see on your bote?

  • Correct.

  • I would like to get one, but they are a bit pricey!

  • Not compared to a aluminum boat, which you have to have a trailer for and is heavy and a pain it the you know what to load and unload. Look around for a used one, they hold up very well. Had mine now for 10+ years and it is still in good condition.

  • those seats don't look stable. What is the weight capacity on these porta-boats?

  • The 14 ft portabote is rated to hold 800lbs including motor and gear. The seats are a solid plastic but not so strong that you can stand on them if you are a pudge--they will crack.

  • You should check out Porta Bote seat bracket on Ebay. I got two of them few day ago. They are awesome.

  • cool song

  • i want one :)))
