Imagine the music industry with no Connie Smith !! This is great Allen. Thanks for posting her music so the rest of the world can hear and see her perform. When I take over as Director of Country Music Hall of Fame I'm going to see that she is rightfully installed where she belongs !!!!!
Very hard to find her cds on amazon - many out of print - looks like a lot of the stuff was only on vinyl , as perhaps this was the only format for this one . Simply beautiful song -what a voice !
Yes, This was and is REAL country music... Connie is awesome. "Pop goes the Cou..." was the down fall of what I knew was the real country music... Connie, George, Kieth, Tammy, Charlie P., Mel, Johnny, Hank, Loretta, just to name a few of many, many great artists.... this stuff was written from the heart. Today's music is "cute stuff"... not the tear jerking, heart felt stuff that we heard these greats sing!
Great version of a George Jones masterpiece , one of the few tracks from Connie Smith where Pete Drake played pedal steel guitar, on most of her tracks it was Weldon Myrick on steel guitar.
If there were writers to write these kind of songs again and find a real country singer the people would come out of the wood work to buy them. The last country song to be real country was by George Jones ( He stoped loving her today) It went down hill from there and may never come back in my life time.
I hate to pick on singer's of this new country music that they are pushing today But it just not country any more ...this lady is like wine she get's better with age..
Some talk about Grand Paul Jones liking Ms Smeith.I was to see George Jones and Grand Paul .In 1964 He had a 1 ton truck he used for his wife and himself. They took it everywhere. They had a comper on it ,( Home Make) He sure had come a long way since 1954thelongshot11
and just think if Bill Anderson hadn't been a judge on that talent quest in Colombus Ohio back in 1963 we probably would never have heard this outstanding voice
Connie Smith Stuart sings this song very passionately. It's a very pretty song originally by George Jones. To change the subject: It's such a sweet love story about her and Marty Stuart. It's hard to find someone to treat you like they should, the way God has it in Ephesians 4 (KJV) ...I feel very fortunate that my God sent my husband, Doug, to me. Doug is an outstanding man and he can make me laugh...he has a great sense of humor.
This is the version, and the song that I played at my husbands funeral. It said exactly what I was feeling. Still chills me, she is SO letter perfect~ I love Connie, always have. The fact that she found Marty Stuart and that they make each other happy is awesome. What a duo! WOW! Thanks for this cut!
I love Lorrie Morgan but as Dolly Parton puts it, this lady is the classic standard that all today's country singers (including Lorrie) are compared to. Some consider her the best female country singer ever and that's saying something especially when you think of Patsy Cline. Her "Once A Day" hit still hold the record as the most time spent at #1 by any female country singer. She should be inducted into Country's Music Hall Of Fame. I don't know why it hasn't happen yet. She so deserves it.
The greatest Female Singer in the world singing one of the greatest songs ever WHAT WOULD WE EXPECT.. When this lady sings everyone listens especially GOD
Yes, I agree, Lorrie Morgan's rendition was great but Dolly Parton was right when she said "There are only three female singers in the world: Barbara Streisand, Linda Ronstandt and Connie Smith. The rest of us are just pretending." Connie eclipses every female singer!!
As much as I love Lorrie Morgan's incredible rendition, this version almost puts Lorrie's to shame..Connie Smith does it justice and then some..thanks for posting!!!

George Jones and Dolly Parton are right about Connie Smith. Connie Smith is the greatest female singer that was ever recorded.

Connie is amazing. In addition to being one of the very best singers on the planet, she
still is as great today as she's ever been.
Any song she chooses to do will equal or surpass any others who cover it.
There will never be words adequate enough to describe her singing and her soul.
