You're welcome, but, in retrospect, your video's statement does somewhat apply to the over all nature of a full length novel.

Focus on a single thing: Have all your plot points or large bodies of description develop your character, your characters goal, the main idea of the story, the pacing of each scene, or the emotional strain of the scene.

Try to keep the subject short: Pretend your reader has ADD; have frequent changes in pacing and action as the story moves along.

I don't think this method works when whiting a full length novel. I imagine that this cutting character development completely out of the picture.
