  • Subarus are awesome

  • Very nice!

  • talk about a wolf in sheeps clothing, although I've never seen a 350 hp sheep. Way to not be a sheeple, you do subie proud, how the forrester xt should have been.

  • @thebighammer69 It's a much tougher job converting a non-turbo Forester to an STI turbo Forester. As far as I know, the compression is slightly different and a few other things. For an FXT, it's replace the turbo, replace the intercooler (maybe consider other cooling methods), reprogram the computer. Now you have to consider upgrading the braking, handling, but you can reasonably hit numbers like low-300HP and have it be a daily driver. Replacing my turbo at the moment.

  • Oh STI this STI that, fuck that 2.5. Build a 2.2T and get yourself a real bulletproof engine. Better yet throw a couple of 2.2 heads on a 2.5, that would be even more badass!

  • @LiftedCO

If you knew what you were talking about in the realm of subaru heads you would not be telling people to put 2.2l heads on to anything just because they suck that terribly. the best flowing heads subaru has ever made are the single cam 2.5l heads.

  • nice car

  • Very nice!

  • nice conversion.

  • Buy a salvage sti and take everything, it's about 10k to do it yourself, around 15 to have it done by a shop. Not worth it IMO.

  • hi I a 2002 Forester S and want to do a STi Conversion how much did it cost

  • With ecu stage 3?

  • Big Turbo? VF35?

  • Is it possible to get these with the steeringwheel on the L/H-side?

  • how quick is 0-100kmph /0-60mph ?

  • 4.5 sec

  • @ahansen77 Does the conversion include the turbo also?

  • is it possible to get an STI in australia??? i never see them and im starting to think we dont have em :(

  • You can get the "STI" in Japan, Australia and U.K. :) STI build only right-hand drive versions of the car, so we "left-handers" have to learn how to shift with the left hand... ;)

  • .. im confused, just tell me, can i get an STI here in AUS? haha

  • It was sold exclusively in Japan, but it's been sold in the UK as a grey import. The steering wheel is on the right side, so it should fit like a glove to you Aussies (lucky bastards). The car is pretty rare in Japan too btw.

  • my question seems to keep slipping out of your reply... can i obtain an STI in australia????? farout if its rare in japan (where it was exclusively sold) how will i find it here?

  • how would *I* know, i'm from the united states?

  • @ahansen77 united states bro

  • Yes and no. First, i'd say no. You can get an XT, and then improve the up pipe, down pipe, exhaust, intake, some ECU tuning, and a slightly upgraded turbo, bigger intercooler etc. Then you're in STI territory. You'll still have the 5 speed instead of a 6 speed unless you upgrade that, too.

  • @abodigibine69 Of course you can get a STI in Australia, have you even looked?

  • anyone know if a jdm legacy gt engine could be swapped into a forester with a 5-speed tranny?

  • No, it doesn't fit. One of the turbos would hit the master cyl. Otherwise it would have been badass!

  • can u not just buy an sti forester in the US? we have them in UK

  • No, the only factory turbocharged vehicles from Subaru in the US are: Impreza (WRX/STi), Legacy hmm. Yeah, that's about it. I have no idea why they don't bring more STi models to the US but lets just blame it on bureaucrats and tree huggers and people who perform biased market studies.

  • The Forester is factory turbo charged too. You just have to get the 2.5 XT.

  • You can most definitely get a Forester w/ a turbo in the US. I believe it's the GXT and the new ones are XT's. Twin scroll turbo too!

  • I hadn't realized that till recently actually. My bad. Still wish my 2000 Forester L was turbo'd. Think an EJ20T swap would pass emissions inspections?

  • yea

  • not in cali

  • wat abot reliability?..ne issues?

  • awsome! even m thinking of it..so wat else u hav got apart frm the sti turbo n ecu?..wat is I/c?

  • intercooler

  • pickin my forester up tomorro!

  • Looks just like my Subie except mine has the PE1818 instead of the VF39, and I am using a JDM STi intercooler and COBB catted turboback.

  • You know nowt.

  • ok...WHY are they shit? (theyre not to begin with) but what is it specifically you didnt like about the car?

  • dude your my hero

    FORESTER MAFIA

  • ok first off "duceduceexplorer" i have a forester with Sti suspension and it's been measured as well and it's exactly a 2 inch drop in the rear and 21/4 in the front. and "stalepriest" you go drive your dads mustange gt or whatever and get owned by a forester cuz you will. AND "ilovebeer79" they do handle like crap stock but catch up on your reading and you'll realize the 04 forester is LIGHTER than an 04 sti haha chump! oh and ahansen77 sti swap?? 04 FXT COMES with exactly the same shortblock!

  • nobody said swap..."conversion"...STi turbo, I/C, ECU, etc.

  • @ahansen77 excellent choice, so cost effective, planning on the same thing

  • @boxer4rsti all you need is exhaust, computer and turbo and walla u have sti forester

says so right on the forums

  • ...maybe you should read about it first... just a thought, I don't really have to explain just do your research and you'll retract that statement...

  • I'm sorry but your basing that on your own opinion without probably knowing full well what that car is..whats its based on and what its like to drive...dont.

  • Nice ;) did you have to change any mounts? is it the 2.5 or the 2.0 litre engine?

  • yeah

    hear the whistle sound

  • is that a turbo?

  • very nice my subie bretheren

  • i have the same but the 2.0X only 128 ps :(

i cant believe that front weels spinned that much :D

  • no LSD like the STI

  • what blow off or intake is that??

  • thats so neat man... i am so jelous!

  • all subaru's are race bred...LOL

  • what exhaust is in that?

  • Great car man. Well done.

  • if you have an XT already the engine is the same as the STi, just upgrade to the stock turbo, intercooler and computer from the 04 Sti and you'll have 300hp instantly. Parts are available cheap on ebay and enthusiast forums, just keep an eye out for someone selling their stock stuff after ugrading to aftermarket stuff. Best part is your faster with stock reliability.

  • There are differences in the STI Engine compared to the standard forester. The heads are slightly different and they have bigger exhaust ports and exhaust manifolds.

  • na mate im pretty sure they are the same, so piss off...

lol jks,.... are they? the forester has the WRX engine and i thought the STi was just a bigger turbo, diff ecu, tune and stuff...???

  • nice launch bro

  • holi sit!!!

  • Can this be done on a '98 model ?

  • ANYTHING can be done if you have enough money, but it can't be done on a small budget, you'd need a full STi motor/trans/ecu/harness, etc and someone with skills to fabricate motor mounts and custom brackets.

  • Thanks a lot, I just saw an sti engine for sale on ebay...I'll keep this in mind for future references. As a sidenote though, I doubt my '98 model is a turbo if that matters...

  • No its not, turbo started in 2004 which is why i said you need a full swap and fabrication to make that work.

  • Oh I see, thanks again. Maybe I'll try and get started next summer, I'll be asking a lot more questions once I do lol.

  • no they didnt, the s turbo was out b4 then

  • No offense, but if you're not sure that you car has a turbo or not, you probably shouldn't worry about engine swaps.

  • PLEASE MORE VIDS

  • phat!

  • SICK!

  • noy that's a grocery getter.

  • bad ass

  • lauch that thing fo real...how many rpm's ru launching at

  • fuuuuck that sounds good!

  • Wish I had the doe for STI swap :( Sounds nice!

  • how much would it cost to buy the engine?? I want it on my forester but I dont want to pay 5 grand for the engine..

  • if you have an XT already the engine is the same as the STi, just upgrade the turbo, intercooler and computer.

  • please move VIDS PLEASE?!?! awesome ride man

  • sorry car was sold a year ago, i have an Acura RDX now.

  • 0h ok aw!

  • Nice!

  • nice forester quite prefer them to imprezas coz there just different ma impreza has a vf34 turbo and the exhaust 3" straight all the way throught with a decat running 345bhp to the wheels n e way nice forester hope to own one soon

  • nice scooby dude, props to that beast

  • hey. love the scooby. what kind of 0-60 times are you pulling in the vid? where you get the kit?

  • based on my 12.8 1/4 mi i'd say about 4 sec 0-60, maybe a little less....the launches in the video's were terrible though because I still had my bald tires on.

  • OMG

  • Sick, is that a vf39 setup? and is it a turbo-back 3"?

  • yes sir...vf39/catless 3"...i miss it. hemi power aint all it's cracked up to be.

  • lol my dads 60 and he still loves tricked up foresters ;D

  • Nice, take it your in Aussie? Ive got a black SF with V4 STI conversion/VF22 over here in NZ, a definite improvement over stock!

  • i did it on a budget....spent about $1k on the STi conversion....then about another $1k for the turbo back exhaust and Cobb Accessport.

  • fuck yeah! you own! i love tricked foresters, how much has your swap ended up costing you?

  • NICE!

The guy below must be one of them "OMG, I just got passed by a wagon" victims.

There are some fast Subaru wagons out there. Get use to it.

  • looks real to me, im convinced

  • LMAO...Fake? That wasn't even a good launch, you must drive a Hyundai. I think if you look at the weeds in front of the camera blowing in the wind you'll realize this isn't fake. Not to mention the smoke from my tires slowly blowing away. Idiot.

  • Fake, camera running fast mode

  • Uh. Look at the smoke from the front tire... That camera is not speeded. Get a grip.
