  • Ha! Ricardo Montalban would be proud! There is a car I'd like to own... thumbs up!

  • wow a four speed thats nutty

  • Coreentheean leather.

  • mikestylezz Yes, the 1979's were much lighter. Sometime in the next few years I would like to build another 512 and put it in an A-body. I would like to try to keep the weight around 2800 to 3000 pounds. Should be a fun project.

  • the 79s were the lightest if you that setup in a 79 you could have saved 400 to 500 lbs

  • @lochinvar111 u sir r retarded no they didnt make a 512 big block but u can take a 440 or 400 and stroke it to that many cubic inches so go get back in ur chevy and cry bitch

  • HamletvsJawas Thanks for the comment and best of luck with your Cordoba.

  • Man she sounds mean. Thats how I want my Cordoba to sound. But I'm sticking with the small block 360. Beautiful Car you got there my friend.

  • Reverse is to the left and then up.

  • Sorry, I was not watching really close and suddenly I saw you pulling gears, which surprised the heck out of me. I had a '79 300 for fourteen years and I thought I had seen everything there was to know about those ole girls until I saw that...

Hey, you have a really cool car there...

  • I've never seen a Cordoba with a fourspeed in it before...what gives?

  • @Lochinvar111 The car has a couple mods.

  • @Lochinvar111 That makes two of us.

  • @Lochinvar111 they didn't have 512 cubic inch big blocks, either, LOL

  • sweet ride. make some more vids of this car.

  • harleyguyinmilw Thanks for the comment. We are planning to change to a 4.10 gear later this year. The car is still primarily a weekend cruiser and is not driven on the freeway too much. So, the 4.10's should work out well. The gear swap should also take some of the stress off of the rest of the drive train components.

  • It is nice to see one of these cars in good shape. Back in the day, they were saddled with emissions choked carburators, "lean burn" ignition, and they rusted like mad in the NorthEast. They were sort of a bad joke. Glad to see you fixed one up to its true potential.

  • love the car !!! very nicely done. i think you need a bit more gear than those 3.55's, and those tall tires, B motors love to rev, I dump the clutch on my 383 roadrunner at 6200-6500 and shift at 6grand running 4.30's in a 8.75 rear. and have yet to have ANY valve spring/retainer issues

  • love the voice in the background

  • Voice is from the actor Ricardo Montalban - search for videos with him.

  • kramrollin69,

Thanks for the comment. I think you're right on the money with the 430hp. I was figuring 560@ the crank. Rear wheel hp should be around 400-425. Also, It recently went a 12.60 at 112 at Norwalk (way better track). I based the 560hp on that run. The Sure-Grip may be worn out or just overwhelmed as it is just a stock 9-1/4" truck unit. We'll keep working on it, hope to go low 12's next season.

  • Hey Fluggerblax, well done with the doby. You got a lot of sorting to do tho. The Mopar bible bracket science calcs bring your total horsepower to only 430hp, using your weight and mph. Not much more than a stock 440 6bbl. Your suregrip is on the way out too, going by the burnout (no spin lhs). Yr reving too hard (to 6g) too. a 512 should use the torque, not revs. keep toonin tho, well done.

  • Rob, I used a 23 spline 833 with a .309 1st gear from a '69 b-body (I think it might eventually twist the input shaft though). I made my own hydraulic clutch setup with a universal Wilwood clutch pedal and Wilwood master and slave cylinders. I took a bit of trial and error but it works awesome now. Cut the brake pedal in half and used a stock clutch pad to cover it. The driveshaft tunnel also had to be cut out and reformed to accommodate the shift tower and trans case.

  • That's an awesome Cordoba. I almost hate to say it, but it probably be quicker with a 727, although probably not nearly as fun to drive. On a state certified scale my 78 was 4340 lbs.

  • This is my dad's and my car. The current setup is a stroked 400 "B" engine (512 inches). Edelbrock heads, 2.14/1.81 valves, Comp 246/252 @.050", 520"/540" lift solid flat tappet cam, Edelbrock performer rpm dual plane intake, BG Demon set with 975 venturies. We weighed it and it actually came out to 4300 with me in it. We did some things to lighten it but also added weight with a big 9.25 axle and home made frame ties. If you calculate the weight and trap speed it comes out around 560 crank HP.

  • Thanks for clearing that up. So, 4100lbs is close to actual (without driver).

  • How did you get it down to 4100lbs. Those were almost 5000 from the factory?

  • sweet ride

  • with a 512 and 600hp this should be running at least 10s.... if not a high 9...

  • Yes - if it were in a Dart with slicks, not a tank with full interior and no weight reduction.

  • Hi, I have a cordoba project on go. I am thinking about also converting to a manual trans. Question is, what pedals, trans did you use?

    Thanks for the inspiration.

    Rob
