  • Didn´t know he was so great...thank you so

  • The Bobby Fischer of pop.

  • phil spector the best what us is overcome really the great what is happens he is te best a super man in the music

  • A super music genius, but nuttier than a squirrel turd.

  • But he did produce the concert for Bangladesh...smart guy.

  • Phil Spector did not produce Bob Dylan's "Just like a women" off of the "Blonde on Blonde Album-Producer Bob Johnston . Very funny clip at the end with John Lennon thanking Phil is really making fun of Phil if you utube it u will see in full clip. John actually had a hard time recording with Phil on his solo album as John was finally growing out of his pop stage and was really getting serious about lyrics and his own music style. At best Phil is a really great "POP" Producer.

  • What A Musicialy, Amazing, Crazy Man To Give Us This Music!

  • the back up singer in the first song looks like will ferrell! if you ever get a chance watch old ike and tina turner videos. you will never forget them!

  • the back up singer in the first song looks like will ferrell!

  • You know why music from this period is timeless? because afterward music became about studio tricks and continued to lose its humility ever since. It's funny to me how now we have all this technology and still can't manage to touch what was made then. Music is human leave it human and keep all the other unnecessary crap out of it, simply less is always more.

  • The expanse of good music Phil Spector has produced is incredible..especially the music of The Beatles and the music of Beatles.

  • I didn't know he produced so many Beatles songs

  • @talma16 he didn't ,he produced one beatles album

  • Phil Spector is a great producer and a good killer

  • didnt do a very good job on twist n shout by two notes

  • Free Phil Spector!!!!!

  • back to mono ya schumuks

  • Free Phil!!

  • One of the giants of the rock era, but nuttier than a fruitcake.

  • what a genius.

  • As a songwriter and record producer, Phil was a genius. As a human being, he's a monster. His descent into drugs, madness and whatever else ate him alive, began after the failure of "River Deep- Mountain High", by Ike & Tina Turner, to reach the "Top 10" in 1966; that record virtually shattered Phil's confidence in himself and his talent. The Lana Clarkson affair is what finally did him in. Unlike Brian Wilson, who eventually climbed out of his "hole", Spector couldn't.

  • Phil Spector was a real GENIUS when he created his 'Wall of Sound' The 'Wall of Sound' gave many songs more power, emotion, and 'soul'.

  • very good.... and don´t forget "rock and roll", man!

  • wow, I never realized his accomplishments...too bad he ended up a sick ass piece of murdering crap that will rot in prison...

  • @Boss6219 - Yes, he is in prison.

Too bad his accomplishments blow your whole life out of the water, and even if he did murder someone, he has still accomplished more than you.

He had a fucking castle, literally. Google that shit! Castle. 40 years of money, making real music. He may have gotten out of hand one night, but that happens in the streets everyday.

  • @assmuncher1984 "HE MAY HAVE GOTTEN OUT OF HAND ONE NIGHT"???? He killed a woman. That's a little more than "out of hand".

  • @judecreek2 - Exactly happens all the time.

In the newspaper last week in New Jersey. A guy owed another man $5,000 and the dude went there to "hurt him" well the guy was smaller than the other guy and he died. Things got out of hand, that is what it is called when things are good then go awry. I'm glad we had this discussion, otherwise you may have been very confused.

  • @assmuncher1984 I don't give a crap what he did in his life, I simply made an observation that he HAD ACCOMPLISHED a lot you idiot, why don't you read what I wrote. But , that he will rot in prison for the rest of his very bizzare life for as you put it..."gotten out of hand one night"... I guess murder in cold blood is no big deal to you, after all, happens every day right? I had a bad day, is it OK if I come to your house and put a bullet in your head...you dumb ass,

  • @assmuncher1984 Oh , by the way. Your screen name is perfect!

  • @Boss6219 - Thanks for your support and join the Bob Saget Army and Dave Coulier Fan Club at once! I co-own it!

  • @assmuncher1984 Now I know your a complete idiot....what the hell are you talking about,,,,,smoke much dope you bone head

  • @Boss6219 - Thanks for your support! BTW The Bob Saget Army has been going strong since 2005, so don't get your panties all in a bunch because you thought I made something up. Smoke dope you bone head? Do bone heads smoke dope or can intelligent people take a bong rip, maintain their job and social status as a leader in society? I think so. BTW Dave Coulier Fan Club is seeking new members. If you love "Joey" from Full House you will love my website.

  • @assmuncher1984 your completely fucked in the head...seek help

  • The greatest genius in pop music...

  • It is very hard to live in Los Angeles, the pressures, the lifestyles, and the people who work in the industry. Phil's work is matchless, thus it is sad how he ended up.

  • Growng up in the 60's I was never aware that phil had produced all that sound that I loved back then. To bad that his life took such a bad turn.

  • Spector was great but I think the drugs took him down, I suspect either heroin or cocaine, or both, which is basically drugs that absolutely destroy the will for anything except for that drug. Howard Hughes was the same way. He ended up locking himself away for years all the way till his death doing nothing but drugs 24 hours a day and eventually you start going crazy.

  • Excellent vid done here with superb songs. A great post!

  • Sammy Turner's "Raincoat in The River"...a Phil Spector production and one of the finest records I've ever heard.

  • Just cos hes a genius does not mean he escapes justice. Best producer ever in my opinion.

  • @colombian18 excellent comment

  • Comment removed

  • @snuffelbaarsje Agreed. But in all honesty Spector hadn't done anything for yrs by the time he was arrested. He became terrified of destroying his legacy, hence the inactivity or even attempts to get back to work. I seriously doubt that he would have done much. Rotting away in jail is a terrible end, though, especially for someone like Spector

  • Where's the Ramones ? ! It was his swansong !!!

  • Musicians are heaven's gift to our world....

  • i am innocent the free phil movement has begun

  • crazy genious

  • lol did they purposely not show mccartney in "let it be" or "the long and winding road" in this video like they thought it would be too embarassing or since paul and phill had a little feud going on with each other lol?

    reply needed.

  • Nope. Rights too expensive.

  • yeah, I guess that Paul continued to work easy on the songs instead. John called him "beatl'-head" after they broke up actually and wrote an offesnive song to him "with Phil Spector"! wow!

  • The first ever Ronnie Spector Darlene Love A Christmas Gift For You live concerts- Dec 11 Parilla Pac Montgomery College Rockville MD and Dec 17 The Count Basie Theatre Red Bank NJ.

  • as long as I have the '53 Merc!--"cruise till the tires fall off!"

  • They need to let Phil out.

  • Phil Spector produced some great records. I love them all. A genius.

  • Fabulous collage...

    Ah! The Memories....

  • Phil...a great artist , no matter what he did

love ya ! Phil, for your music, killing a woman isnt a thing to be proud off...............

  • If you're gonna play, you're gonna pay!

  • legend

  • How does Phil Specter bump Geroge Martin out of the way and produce Beatles...???

  • They actually realised that the Beatles had done enough to work with a "real" producer for one day.

  • Who are "they"? John Lennon? Ringo Starr? George Harrison?

Pleased with how the Let It Be album turned out, they all sought out Phil Spector to produce their early solo records.

Does that sound like a momentary lapse of reason?

Can you explain why Phil Spector isn't a "real" producer?

Phil has been associated with The Beatles since before they arrived in New York for the first time.

  • You mean George Martin? Phil had his own sound you know.

  • -George Martin was a great producer (now he's lost his head because he says he can't keep it in music properly).

+Phil Spector is a genius! Now, then and forever! He's a Rebel!

  • @M3town3 Gene Pitney wrote HE'S A REBEL Phil produced it.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm waiting on that album he's gonna make in jail..it's gonna be the shit!

  • apparently he'd waved that gun aroun done time too many in the past ..play with fire and people get burnt.

its righ the pays for what he did - but what a way to go - still it takes allsorts to make rock n roll -

  • This genius has given me so many

    wonderful moments listening to his

incredible "wall of sound"! I'm not interested in what happened afterwards.

  • I couldn´t have said it better myself. Can´t help but being in love with the music of Phil Spector.

  • @peterandreasen I agree....I would have loved for Phil Spector to have kept producing. He really gave us some jewels through the years. It's hard to name a favorite, but I think mine is the Beatle's "Long and Winding Road"...has to be the most beautiful song ever put on wax.

  • @atletico45 I know what you mean. I think, from what I've heard of him, that he was a tortured soul. The fact that he went over the edge doesn't change the fact that he was an innovative genius in his time. You can tell a record he produced right off the bat- the sound is unmistakable! By the way, that was a great concept for a video. Kudos!!!

  • What a shame. What a waste.

  • waste?...how?

  • I dont know. "Waste" just seems to always go with "shame". How about "what a waste of what should have been a perfectly appropriate "Lifetime Achievement Award" recipient. Spends so many years offering outstanding contributions only to end it with such a discordant note. I guess thats all im saying.

  • So sad, he ruined his life.

  • im glad he's in jail. i hope he dies

  • Everyone dies.

  • Are you happy because peple reap the consequences of mistakes?

Hey bro, we all make mistakes!

  • Man, i'm an idiot :)

  • By the way, Phil is/was a genius.

  • At 4:44 whats that bands name? I don't recognize them?

  • That's George Harrison, Bob Dylan, and Leon Russell singing "Just Like a Woman". Concert for Bangledesh 1971.

  • how the mighty have fallen

  • Phil Spector rocks but he will die in prison...

  • I think so too

he is a genius, also one crazy mf

alas though....he could had have everything

  • A great compilation.

As with other humans which are genius' it's difficult for "mere" folks to seperate the 2 .

  • Are you all fricken crazy!!! This lunitic killed an innocent women! Who gives a shit about what MUSIC this little barbaric sex crazed mad man produced. May his rotton corpse rot in hell!

  • hay zuz, You people are out of your fricken minds.

phil Spector needs to be drawn and quarterd. Then peed on. Then have a gun put in his mouth and have the trigger pulled. Just like he did to that poor little girl.

  • project much?

  • WOW he produced a great wave of musical magnificience-wish him all the peace in the world for bringing forth such love -very sad for his present lot - however, to see and hear his beautiful compilations is be there with the beauty of his genius and where I choose to stay...

  • Love You Phil. May you soon be free.

  • Forget it; Phil will probably die in jail---wasting away from depression or doing himself in. No one tells Phil what to do---in or out of jail. I last saw him at Ike Turner's funeral. I gave Phil a big hug, telling him all would be okay, even adding that Phil still had hits left in him to produce; Phil smiled; Phil touched my shoulder on the way out of the church. I love Phil and always will, I will never, ever believe he pulled the tirgger. There will never be another Phil Spector.

  • You know, Koji...I think you're probably right. But I guess it's just a matter of not even wanting to think about it. I'm still hoping and praying that justice will be done for Phil. This is an awful miscarriage of justice. I really love him. He gave us so much wonderful music.

  • what is that song that says my steady boy asid ship ahoy and joined the navey a vy

  • Nabvy Blue by Diane Renay... It's here on youtube.. Search it.

  • No Ramones =(

  • Phil was a genius! He only had one MONO speaker to pump out sound at that time, either a transistor radio or a car dash speaker and the wall of sound maximized the listening experience. Sincere thank you for this fine video. Obviously some JERKS here miss the point of maximizing available technology.

  • Somewhere, a long time ago, I read a funny story about how he called the Beatles in for a special session at the studio. When they came into the room, he had it setup with 16 speakers, each playing a different track on one of their songs. I think it was George who covered his ears because the sound was driving him crazy, and the rest of them said, "That's nice, Phil. Now can we hear it on just 2 speakers, like it will sound on a NORMAL stereo?"

  • it takes a woman to bring a great man down.

  • River deep mountain high was his best!

  • 7Beers, PHIL IS INNOCENT! Ain't no way he could of killed that greedy wench. She did it to herself and the record execs are trying to stop paying him what they OWE!

It's a conspiracy thoery just like those 911 truthers and alec jones.

    LONG LIFE PHIL!!!

  • Wow...even though the guy had a history of getting angry when drunk and pulling out firearms, you so easily say he isn't guilty? The guy SHOULD have gotten some help to overcome his addiction to alcohol... Things like this can happen to anyone if they are out of control and in a dark enough space. He did it. He had a history with alcohol and firearms. Get over it. He should have grown up! Instead, he took a life.

  • He's DA MASTER!!!!!!!1 Phil Spekter is INICINT and YOU ARE SUCH A HADER!!

  • He may have been a master in recording, but his history dictates that he probably killed a woman. So, he will pay the price. Had he cleaned up his act previously, this wouldn't have ever been an issue, right? Sorry, but the likelihood is that he pulled the trigger while drunk. And, so he must be punished. He took a life. He should have stopped drinking and raging and waving around firearms, as people that knew him testified to. He has many issues, and so he pays the price. That's life.

  • Also, man.....learn to spell, would you? His name is right up there at the top of the page and you couldn't type it properly? He's "the" master...Phil "Spector" is "INNOCENT" and you are such a "HATER." Take some time and educate yourself. It isn't that complicated.

  • Wow. We live in such a dumbed-down society that people have come to expect rilly bad speling and the blind worship of obviously deranged personalities, to the point at which an attempt at sarcastic humor doesn't get through.

Well, it's refreshing to know there's at least one person on this planit who can spel!

  • dude, get a life..

  • HA! I get it. Good one!

  • LOL

  • hahaahah hahaahhaah ;P you're crazy hahahaha ;P

  • More from that page re Motown producer (etc.) Frank Wilson and his peers (who don't include Slutsky, who never attended any '60s Motown session or met Jamerson or Benjamin): "When Berry Gordy decided to open a West Coast Motown office, following his visit there to attend a disc jockey convention in 1963, he asked L.A. veterans Hal Davis, and Marc Gordon to take charge." (Matches what CK's been saying publicly for years -- frequently resulting in scornful reactions from her energetic detractors)

  • he was mad then I take it?

  • He went from Producing Let it Be, To Producing Lesters Seed. How do you like them apples Phil, You Talented Mutha Fucker.

  • And from there, he went to pulling guns on people and eventually killing one.

  • Is that Phil on guitar on 0:13 to 0:30?

  • Yes.

  • he made his money knob twidling lol thats soooooooooooo funny knob jokey lol murdering knob jokey

  • Kevin... A truck driving, red neck, jew hating, high school drop out who has issues with women, apart from the ones who are smashed out of their heads on cheap suds...

Let's all contact Kev today to let him know what we think of him

  • i guess you like actress murdering jews and the weasels who lie and defend them

  • God you know me so well Kevin

  • name: kevin

im a republican who likes women

    Country: United States

    Occupation: transporation

    University/College/School: the best

Interests and Hobbies: Chicks Drinking Beer Florida

Films and Shows: The Wizard of Oz The Last Waltz The Lonely Guy Night Shift Cinderella Man

Music: The Band The Rolling Stones The Beatles U2

Books: I have lots of books ...

Most interesting thing about our Kev (k3304) is that he likes beer, The wizard of Oz and has some books....

  • Too bad Spector became a murdering scumbag.

He was probably the single best thing to ever happen to pop music - and no, I'm not forgetting the Beatles.

  • kevin is gay

  • Nice post. What a shame Spector lost his mind. Sorry about Lana.

  • i know he was involved with a lot of hits.......but he always struck me as way way over rated.

many of those hits do have an appeal but there is hardly any truly great songs among them, most are just pop slock from the era in which they were produced. and i also have serious doubts as to how much he influence the likes of the Beatles and such.

  • He left a powerful body of work that holds up and still sounds fresh when so much of the music of his contemporaries sounds dated and uninspired. 'Baby, Please Come Home', 'You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'', 'My Sweet Lord', even 'I Love How You Love Me' still grabs the listener. Phil is clearly a deeply disturbed dude who needs to locked up, but the attempt made relentlessly over the past 6 years to paint his musical gifts as "schlock" is really get out of hand.

  • spector was hardly over rated--the wall of sound is the best hing to ever happen to pop music

  • you've been called stupid a lot in your life, right?

  • hey k3304 would you rather be a jew or an idiot?

while we're on the subject would you rather bang a hot jewish woman or an ugly gentile?

    just asking bros.

folks you have to forgive kevin, its not his fault he was born dumber then a rock. but considering that, he actually hasn't done so bad for himself.

  • Comment removed

  • k3304 - so is Jesus, ain't it? (a "jewish weasel")

  • Sorry... I misread kev's profile... he likes Chicks who drink beer..... so long as they are not Jewish weasels.... I'm guessing his mother still lives him but I can't see why...

  • Bubba: yo yous wants to bes de wife or de husbands? Phil: i'll think i'll be husband. Bubba:"well' come on over here and gives yo wifes a blow job!! bitch

  • GUILTY!!

  • M U R D E R E R

  • what a great creative mind and murderer.

  • He Created the Teddy Bears

To Know Him Is to Love Him is on His Father's Grave Stone.

    Thank you Phil.

    Philip the Cat Says Hello

  • Incredible. The range of muscians and artist that he was able to work with.

I also love the Paris sisters and the teddy bears - and thought it was interesting that he worked with both groups- similar but distinct in their own rights

  • where is the Ramones?

  • I think if the ramones started with Spector and stayed with him - they might have cut it. But maybe they were too limited with the cords they could play

I also read somewhere that Spector stressed the shit out of them. It didnt last long.

  • stop about the murder and the case.

    just focus on the music

  • People have the right to talk about any topic they feel is relevant.

  • Spector....a real nutter....but a musical genius...

  • Guy pulled a gun on Celine Dion.

  • wow, what a talent.

  • dion please

  • Can you think how good

    Katy Perry

    Britney Spears

would be if Phil Spector would work with them. priceless. KIISFM would not suck

  • Comment removed

  • And then he killed me...

  • LOL, excellent!

  • And then, it was: You've Lost That Breathing Feeling...

  • murderer.

to know him is to run from him as he will shoot you

  • let's have more Phils. genius. put the other life stuff to one side, it's a side-show to the main event, his music.

  • Let's not forget that one of his biggest triumphs Unchained Melody the arrangement was done by Jack Nitzsche.

  • Truly awesome vid. Spector was/is a genius in the studio but he's also a creep. Perhaps someday, another type of genius can come up with a genetic or pharmaceutical solution to those who are creeps without taking away their genius. Einstein seems to be at least one exception to the creep as genius or genius as creep rule.

  • Time will tell if Phil did wrong in the Lana Clarkson incident. But there's no denying the man is a genius and gave the world a lot of beautiful music.

  • What a great comment

    100% agreed

  • You set a rather low bar for "genius".

  • That's the point. Once dead people can't remember him as an assasin it would't be right, but as a genius. What has been more important in his life, music or crime? When Ray Charles died on a film of his life he was remembered as an heroin addict. Please everybody, be serious.

  • Always remember Lana Clarkson...poor girl.

  • Wow! He's a legend.... but a crazy one. Luv his work.

  • To Know Him Is To Love Him is the inscription on Phil Spectors fathers tombstone.

  • Love his work... I have and will never listen to anything this nut did ever again... I would not support a maniack because he has talent ... but behind closed doors. He does this... over and over and over Love Him?

Spector's kinky habit, putting a gun to the head of woman. He used to pull guns all the time when he didn't get his way. Love Him?

Lana was leaving, he turned out to be a little bit too weird. The drunkard scary gun game failed, when she tried to leave.

  • Damn it you made me cry... love those songs...

  • 5*. Great video

  • Great compilation, of most of his early 60s stuff, of course never complete, for where is that Optimum of Spectorism, River DeepMtn High ??, and , what did he do with the Beatles any way, and.....where are the \Ramones ? Rock & Roll High School??

Johnny Herring is Hollands Spector fan numero uno, since 1962.
