  • goth rocks !!!

  • Another classic. Shame they never got better than "Masked", which could really use a remastering... Saw these guys play out a couple of times for Nine Ways. The last show, Troy Payne (the singer) had a piece of gum stuck in his hair which bothered me in a very OCD way.

  • Love em! they remind me of sisters of mercy but yeah they ARE FUCKING AWESOME!!!!

  • is this Christian or anti-Christian...I'm confused!

  • @198952572 Anti-Christian.

  • @198952572: Not necessarily anti-Christian. It could be sung from the point of view of a true Christian struggling to keep his faith, but plagued by doubt because of disillusionment with Churches and other corrupt institutions, the seeming absence of God in the world, and the sorry state of humanity. It happens sometimes.

  • @198952572

    It's nothing.

    Neither christian nor anti-christian.

They just state the truth, how people are haunted by their own believings.

  • I love this shit!!!

  • this video is grooving.

  • super kick ass!!

  • totally awesome alternative industrial rock new wave, i love this sound

  • @djmusicjac @Sw1tchback technically this is deathrock in my opinion.

  • For me, personally, Masked is one of the top 5 Goth albums ever produced. The music is good and it's relentlessly dark and atmospheric. I saw them in concert when they opened for the Electric Hellfire Club, and I was an instant convert. This is one of the most listened to albums in my (very large) music collection.

  • goth rocks !!!!!

  • Great stuff! What are other good deathrock bands? I wanna into this stuff!

  • this album is a classic...

  • @Gloomshadow1 Most young kids that think their goth but they listen to metal which i really dont understand that part lol but i love old-school goth music i think its great ^-^

  • @AyambelIa I totally agree with you, i hate it when people call them selves goths when they listen too metal it really annoys me.

  • @xXxgoth666xXx It's Post-punk, not goth anything. Most post punk bands just get labelled as goth by the media even though they don't claim to be.

  • @Sw1tchback Punk? There is nothing punk about this band. Their name is "the wake", and just listening to it you can tell by the dark, otherworldly sound that it is goth.

  • @setustraight POST-punk. You know, like Joy Division, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy. Fields of the Nephilim, etc.

  • I actually heard a so-called "Goth-kid" tell me that THIS WAS NOT GOTH and the METAL is "Goth"! ha ha ha..... Whats this fucking world coming to???

  • @Gloomshadow1 Ha ha ha....That's funny , I am 16 and i know goth is not metal . How stupid can that kid be ha ha ...... but this music sounds goth to me ^-^

  • @AyambelIa this is Goth as hell!! Old-school goth..he thought Cradle of Filth was Goth..

  • The vocals are very Sister-esque but people need to get out of the habit of calling ever goth band with deep vocals a Sister copy, because most of them aren't.

I love this song so much. Great, great stuff.

  • @Beatmyguest001

No, seriously -- search out Train by the Sisters of Mercy. They're not being called wannabes because of the vocal style, they're being called wannabes because it's THE SAME TUNE.

  • still feel the same

  • I've had this cd since the day of it's release, I LOVE IT!

  • best song they did.

  • Wow..fucking incredible.

  • fuck I think it so confusing keeping both Wake bands from eachother. The US and the UK one, their styles somehome resemble.

  • @kutbaag lol

  • that good song the devastating atmosphere

  • Yeah their music was great. Just too bad the keyboard player was a woman-beating asshole. If they'd gotten rid of him I might still be a fan.

  • @navzryd69 how do u know? kabbalah matthewsheaprd

  • @WashougalDreamHouse Because the woman in question was my best friend at the time. She married Rob Brothers and had a kid with him. He, at one point choked her over a pack of cigarettes. I had to help her move to get her away from him. I can't hold it against the band though, it isn't their fault, and it has nothing to do with them. I still love their music. It's a style that's timeless. You could hear it twenty years from now and it would sound like it could be new.

  • @navzryd69 so what happened? i'm taking it you were there at the time? or are you just making this allegation on someone else's synopsis of events?

  • Comment removed

  • @MegaRapture

It was my best friend whom he choked, and she told me, however, she had photographs taken at work the next day, he left multiple marks on her neck. The staff at her place of work saw those photographs, including me. She was a horrible mess following this incident, and she is not one to make up things. In fact she is quite trustworthy. He chased her around the house all night, basically terrorizing her even when she tried to avoid his presence altogether and go to sleep.

  • @navzryd69 innocent until proven guilty. I don't believe this allegation until i'm convinced with irreputable evidence not some flimsy indirect rumours. And if your "friend" had any believable evidence of domestic abuse , she should have taken it to the police and court not photograph her alleged wounds for her work collegues. sounds like someone with a personal greivance against the band making up bullshit/slander.

  • @MegaRapture WOW I can't believe that comment. OOOOkay dude. Believe whatever you want, just remind me not to come to you if I get assaulted. She HAD proof, and she lived with him, she had to move out. I did not know him until she began dating him, and I have nothing against the band what purpose would it serve me to make up such a story? I suggested they replace him, which they could do easily and remain just as good. Is everyone's attitude in the UK like that about abuse? I hope not.

  • @navzryd69 If what you say is so true , then why write her theory of events here? Why don't you do something constructive with all your alleged evidence? Why do you even assume people here are interested in his personal life according to you,?

  • @MegaRapture I do not assume anything. I feel that others deserve to be informed about someone they admire. Everything I am saying is public knowledge except for the abuse of his former wife. Just because you personally do not wish to know the truth does not mean that everyone agrees with you. I am giving others a choice...an alternative way to view this shitbag of a person. It was not my choice to prosecute him, it was HERS, and trust me I did all in my power to convince her to fight him.

  • @MegaRapture I personally did urge her to press charges on him. The custody issues involving their son she felt were a reason to refrain from doing so. I would have made sure he was as far away from myself and my son as I could have. If you choose to admire an abusive asshole, then nobody is stopping you, but you can stop calling me a liar. If it happened to your best friend or your mother or sister you would do the same thing so talk shit all you want.

  • @MegaRapture In addition, if it was a made up story how would I know the name of the person whom he married? Or that they had a child? Or that he lived in Grandview, Ohio with her? I can't remember the address right off hand but if necessary I can go drive the 4.7 miles to their old apartment and get that off the building. I MUST stress, AGAIN, this has nothing to do with the band at all. It is NOT slander if it actually happened, and what would the band have to do with Robert's actions?

  • @navzryd69 And if I were interested in making up stories I would make them better than that. They divorced over this, check public records and see if Rob got a divorce. HINT: Franklin County Ohio...It is a matter of PUBLIC record. Check it, he married MICHELE GOSNAY and they had a child and named him George, he was born several months premature due to a physical malformation in Michele's uterus. He had to spend several months at Children's Hospital here in Columbus.

  • @navzryd69 Has he been charged with the criminal offense you are suggesting he committed? or is all this just bullshit? Do you think you are in some kangaroo court?, this is you tube in case you were not aware.

  • @WashougalDreamHouse tried to send a prply to this, sry if it didn't go through.

  • fucking treble fucking awsum. goth goth or not goth who fucking cares. great track post punk circa 80-20009 the way i remember my idea of a post punk goth band well done'

  • so what, at least its easy to sing to in the shower, bangin!

  • You rock man!! who cares it's all about the music anyway , I would rater die, with good tunes in my head than in some bullshit mansion on the coast!!!

  • You're trying to be funny, I assume. You're not doing a very good job at it.

  • Although this bass-line is not so much original, has got a fiendish, smashing power. It rocks!

  • maybe they are a bit of a clone but yeah, if its ripped or not, its still good, so what?

  • They ARE a Sisters clone. I mean check the guys vocal inflections, his posturing, the bass lines, the lyrical style--these guys have studied the sisters! That said, theyre pretty f#$%in' good.I mean, what the hell,Andrew Eldritch was always accused of ripping off Peter Murphy who was accused of ripping Bowie. And so it goes, round and round. Its Goth--its ALL imitation, really.

  • Pretty much. Its only once in a while you meet a band that has a unique vocal styling, and they're either female or someone nobody wants to talk about.

  • Thanks for posting, love this :)

  • top 5 fol_x. top 5..

    keep talking

  • Great days!! Listening to the Masked album on the way to the latest goth club in my car. Mind you, that wasn't the only time I listened to it. I still do now!

  • Where's your Nazarene?

    Fucking classic line

  • The 69 Eyes came into my head while listening to this. Very similar vocals, however there's a lot more variation in this. Love it.

  • Top 100 i mustv been high i meant to say top 10.

  • voice reminds me of the sisters, but I also recall the 69 eyes, who actually admitted to have a sisters influence.

  • THis is one of my favorite goth songs id say in the top 100.

  • I got this record, and I wouldn't say it's a classic! They're quite original though, and not a Sisters clone like everybody sez. In fact the singer sounds more like Simon D out the march Violets - which is pretty cool!

  • I wouldnt say its a classic either but I wont only upload classics (despite the nick). :)

I dont think theyre a Sister-clone either, their music sounds alot different then the sound the sisters went with but the singers voice reminsd me off sisters.

  • Any idea where to purchase the album this song is off of? It's a must have!

  • Yeah I find alot of time some of the more elitest Deathrockers tend to call anything that sounds vaguely like the Sisters or is New Wave a Sisters Clone.

  • @RichardCrook2

To me this song is a classic, we are in 2010.

  • @RichardCrook2

Heh. Are we not supposed to notice that this sounds *exactly* the same as Train by the Sisters of Mercy?
