There are a lot of situations where you kill enemies when you shouldn't. If you are going to do that, might as well go for a no damage speed run. Good job still though.
I definitely like this more than TAS. I've played this game so many times I could probably give you a run for your money. Good job, though. It's nice to see skill and memorization rather than just cheap TAS which gets boring.
@donladdoland Thank you, and I'd enjoy a race on this game. I agree on TAS. I will say though that it takes a long time and research to make TAS videos, but way more to do this. I give props to the guys at speeddemosarchive and a few other sites that showcase record setting videos, this stuff is HARD. Glad you liked the video.
not bad, not bad at all. i can see this is more of a skill based, cautious speed run and not entirely reckless. you seem to know the games patterns extremely well. i understand magnet man first, but you know... after a while, shadow mans stage isnt bad at all... even the second time around. more on the next ones as i watch 'em.
@Darthstone01 I'm fairly happy with all the videos, but I can do much better. I was trying to stay within the 10 min limit, and ended up rushing a few spots, and having a terrible run at snakeman's stage and a bad run against heatman 2.0... I didn't want to use save states or die or use energy tanks either, but after over 24 hours of solid playing and resets, I had to cave on the E tanks and sacrifice. Thanks for the input, I appreciate it
I like it! What controller are you using? Don't be afraid to button mash, ever. Great run otherwise, you just taught me the RIGHT way to do the blocks XD
@LysoltheFailCat I used an Xbox 360 controller, that's why I messed up a few times, like on the ladder, the analog stick is NOT meant for 2d games LOL
Usually it's faster, but it makes Shadow Man's stage faster having the magnet missiles, so I don't have to wait for the falling parachute guys. I wanted to have some fun with this video plus I wanted to start it off with a flawless level and boss, and I routinely make it through Magnet Man without taking a hit.
As far as the robot masters go, it seems that in just about every megaman, there is one reincarnation of Guts Man, one pathetic as all hell robot, and one BADASS robot that is killed with the worst power-up. I.E. Shadow Man gets killed quickly by lifting your leg, spinning, and hitting him in the face with your inner thigh.
well actually what I do sometimes is start with shadowman, then pull off the rush jet glitch and get the jet right away. kinda cheating but technically glitch abuse is allowed since it's part of the game usually. Not sure about the invincibility glitch though lol.
I was practicing for what I intended of doing some time, as a buster only run. I could use more weapons and other tricks too, to add a little flair to it. Thanks for the compliment though.
Well let me tell you it was a pain in my butt, but at least it worked. What I did was use Nestopia for the emulator. It has an option to record gameplay. I did manage to get it to record in PERFECT quality. The only problem was the file size was ridiculous, so I had to tweak settings, and record in smaller blocks to post it. There are also external recorders that you can plug into your PC or even tv and record too. That's how people record newer console games. Good luck and hope that helped you.
Decent run of this, but I noticed you stopped at 6:44 just to kill something. A nice strategy to this is to jump to the first platform to avoid the enemy, then slide to the next platform. You will avoid the spikes. Just make sure to keep holding left!
Thanks for the tip. I usually do that trick, but my controller was being sketchy at times, and since i wanted a straight run, no restarts or dying etc, i didn't want to chance it. Thanks for the feedback!

FANTASTIC SPEED RUN MAN
That was so cool, however wouldnt it be faster to start with topman? That way you can use rush jet to bypass the bricks on magnetman's stage.
Dunno. Im not very good at this game.

Top Man versus Bubble Man. The ultimate contest of weakling robots.
But in all seriousness, this is an awesome speed run so far, and I like how you trounced the dissapearing blocks. TAKE THAT, Heatman's successor!!

thanks, i wanted to show at least one level that was perfect and I picked this one.
