  • how can people think this stuff works in a real fight? too unrealistic. first you never put your hands down in a real fight.least of all not down to your waist. you're leaving your face wide open for punches. next, never spread your legs that wide, you will move slower. and what if your opponents take you to the ground? karate doesn't work on the ground.

  • @fearthenightraids You are so dump. Amazing.

  • Moi je préfère le judo

  • @crustlylion i know karate and other martial arts... I got a sword and and a gun... Let see how your boxing could work with that...

  • @blipbeep then you're going to prison where there are no guns!!

  • @crustylion321 lol you've got to be kiddibg me!!! I've traubed karate for 8 years abd have a brown belt, and i am 12 years old. With my shotokan i've knocked down very many fifteen year olds!!!! Point: you sir are wrong

  • OH THE SHINAI..... OUCH!

  • nice

  • Ive been a boxer for 3 months and I can say karate is ineffective in a street fight. I knocked out over 25 blackbelts in kyokushin, and various types of martial arts. You guys need to get with the program and stop doing useless martial arts lol

  • @crustylion321 How do you know karate is ineffective in a street fight?

  • @crustylion321 it's not the art. it's the fighter that's ineffective. as a boxer you might have an advantage when you're fighting against someone standing using only fist but what happens when you're on the ground with your opponent? does that make you're art ineffective or you? to me, every art in martial art is limited by itself but combine them and you can be deadly. also gotta be fit. those blackbelts suck.

  • @crustylion321 25 blackbelts in 3 months? you have been fighting a blackbelt in a knock out match on average once every 3 days since you started and won by knock out every time? HAHAHAHA...ha ha. Damn you win the bullshitting competition mate. Tell you what I'm with a karate dojo in london called DKK. I've got a friend called Dyson Roberts, he is only a green belt but he likes a challenging fight. drop us a line and I'll see if I cant get a little match set up. Whatdya say?

  • @crustylion321

never met a guy talking as much bullshit as you.

time to leave your xbox and ultimate fighting alone

  • Shotokan is more than fantastic, it's everything !!!!

  • @JSOBRALNETOFLOYD Actually, shotokan was invented in the late 1700's by a blind man who didnt know how to fight. Shotokan is the most ineffective form of kung-fu and every other fighting style beats it.

  • @crustylion321 1) its not kung fu at all, its a japanese style not chinese. 2) it was invented in 1939 by a bloke called Gichin Funakoshi. 3) it was developed with the idea of remaining relevant in modern society as a platform for self improvement (dicipline, fitness, positive attitudes etc) not just as a fighting art. 4) you ever heard of Lyoto Machida? a mma fighter who fights with...you guessed it Shotokan with a record of 17 wins to 3 losses. ergo you fail on every point sir

  • @crustylion321 oh and Gichin Funakoshi could see just fine

  • @crustylion321 Hes not serious. No one is that stupid. unless...

  • an were can i get tea like that it looks great

    is this shotokan?

  • what system is that?

  • JAPAN IS NUMBER 1

  • the beauty of karate!!

  • very imperative drills .

  • kagawa is the man

  • Should of put a photo of Gigo Funakoshi! Anyway Excellent video! :-)

  • 59 WKF guys are mad.

  • The stance is purely to build strength in the upper legs. I think some karate punches are effective but the way they are practiced could be better so yes you have a point there.

  • Karate to me is only good paired with another martial art some kicks are very efective but there stance and everything else is robotic an unrealistic

  • A lot of people on here do not understand the art is different from the combat.

  • @davidoakleykarate Could you elaborate?

  • @davidoakleykarate yea right!

  • Great video I do Wado but have a great respect for Shotokan unfortunately most big organizations are mcdojos. When I started training karate was pure and money and profit had nothing to do with it. I love to see someone tell terry oneil karate was just show.

  • Yes, philosophy of precision and timing!!

  • as a sport, karate looks cute

but as a martial art, karate loses to pretty much everything

  • excellen :))) Croatia

  • wow! this is very cool stuff!

  • 6:48 is where the Real Deal is.

  • now thats what I call karate, nothing like here in the U.S.

  • who is the man at 6:55?

  • @Canniballss kanazawa

  • Fave kata:Kankudai (Not sure how to spell it ^_^)

  • My karate instructor has a background in Jiu-Jitsu :)

  • The techniques are preformed clinically I see no violence in this video. It is a far cry from the actual reality of training in the JKA instructors session. Usually Junior Dan grades end the session by mopping the sweat and blood from the DOJO floor. Many of the critics show an ignorance of Shotokan. There is a complete difference between BASIC training and Kumite. The training from lower stances is to develop speed and power in movement. All else is to ingrain correct technique in combat.

  • I have never studied Shotokan, I have a background in Wing Chun & Tai-Chi for the most part, but I advise anyone who says that Shotokan is useless to go against a Shotokan practitioner before opening their mouth, I have sparred against Shotokan and Okinawan karate praactitioners in my young days and it was all I could do to hold them off, all martail arts are good if taught and imparted correctly

  • intro is from Shigurui! i'm so surprised.

  • people don't get attacked like this in real life. karate is almost useless.

  • @talon115 you telling me people don't throw punches and kicks in real life

  • @badassmotha1 You ever seen anyone attacked by a guy squatting down launching punches from the hip?

  • @talon115 training with controlled aggression only the first level of Karate. And yes people do get attacked in my ways, including being punched to the face

  • I've only started commenting on these videos but the power displayed in the knockdowns in kumite speak volumes. Watching the Japanese perform on video clips and at courses encourages me to keep trying to improve my own karate, surely thats the point of studying and training.

  • Useless techniques? Go say that to one of them, then u will see, plus if u don't learn it, then chat crap

  • Useless techniques. If you are in Japan, better to train in Jiu-Jitsu.

  • Why are they so stiff?

  • The thing about karate is everyone has a black belt

  • @C0DPLAY3R69 Not really. I've been doing karate for six years and I don't have one. some dojos just give away their blackbelts (they are dubbed mcdojo) but with a real school it can take many years to gain a blackbelt.

  • @C0DPLAY3R69 only in America will you see sloppy Yudansha and kids with kuribi....

  • O melhor video de Karatê que já vi, Oss!!!

  • Sorry for my english! :(

  • But I'm an open mind martial artist, I like every style of fighting! The most powerful style of fighting doesn't exist. There are only good and bad Sensei!

    OSS

  • Karate is my way of life.

  • I don't really like this video at all

  • Saying that karate is inferior to other martial arts is BS.

i know a karate sensei who could used a single point fist to knock out a misbehaving student. Funakoshi said that Itosu's spear hand thrust went through the rib cage of a freshly killed pig.

Funakoshi said to know yourself and the enemy before a fight, which is basically like knowing their weaknesses. Play by your strengths and their weaknesses.

Sorry if I don't reply for the next couple days, will be out of town.

  • The notion that karateka can kill with one punch is a huge myth that did more damage to karateka than good. Funakoshi was referring to Bubishi - interpretation of kata based on accupuncture circule of destruction. Japanese KNOW NONE OF THAT and do not teach it. In fact, the human body is MUCH stronger than even Funakoshi knew. He himself had never been in a single physical altercation. He says so himself in his book Karate-do My Way of Life. Learn karate, Learn boxing, Learn wrestling.

  • I just started karaten today. I am the only girl, kinda embarrasing -.-

  • この動画作成者は日本文化と中国文化を混同しているのか?それでよく空手を語れるものだな。

  • i will be like son goku

  • If you're looking for a martial arts school or organisation, check out:

    martialhub com

They have over 1,000 schools and organisations listed, including 200 Indonesian martial arts links.

  • I was thinking of taking up Muay Thai, but unfortunately, I think it's illegal in Australia (fuck the government and their shitty Hitler laws).

    Is Karate a good substitute?

  • @ACHi11iES You guys can't do Muay Thai in Australia???? I heard you guys can't even own bb guns too. I feel bad for you seriously. And Shotokan is a great. Don't call it a substitute, but it can give you just as much phsyically and mentally as any other martial art.

  • @olamprov

    It's kind of hard man.

What I like about Muay Thai is that the blows are really powerful, and they also teach you counter attacks and exploiting other people's weaknesses. Unfortunately, it seems to lack defensive block techniques, but I'm more of an offensive fighter anyways, so that's not really an issue.

Karate, on the other hand, seems really versatile. Honestly though, how powerful is Karate?

  • @ACHi11iES It's not the art, it's the practitioner. If you keep your head down and train, any martial art will be powerful. And offensive fighter isn't exactly a proper term... I think you're trying to say ur a pressure fighter. And I don't do Muay Thai, but I've seen many blocking and slipping techniques employed by Thai boxers. If you truly want to be versatile, train in mixed martial arts because there is no such thing as an ultimate or complete style. The best is to train in several.

  • @olamprov

I have tried Mix Martial Arts, and unfortunately, I wasn't really satisfied with it. During the classes, all I ever did was Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and we didn't really focus on punches and kicks too much.

I wouldn't mind a bit of ground fighting skill, but I definitely prefer fighting on both my feet (hence Boxing, Muay Thai, Karate, Taekwondo, etc) and not taking it to the ground like most MMA fighters do.

  • @ACHi11iES A karateka (karate practioner) can kill a man in one strike. Gichin Funakoshi, who was the father of modern karate and can be seen at the end of this video, said that no form of fighting can be considered a martial art if it lacks the ability to kill in one blow.

  • @MedievalKninja I can assure you that NONE of the men on this video could kill anyone who had ANY physical training. These guys would get KOed by any boxer with less than a year experience, get taken down and beaten by anyone with highschool wrestling experience, and get destoryed by any Muay Thai. This had been proven in multiple events. I admire their skill, but it is outdated, and against a skilled opponent, has no value. Maybe against an average Joe, it can work.

  • Think of this... They are just sports, they are games. If I wanted to kill someone, I'd use a weapon, like every human being has since time began. Is football BETTER than soccer? They are different GAMES.If push came to shove I'd put the football in a rocket and send it across the field at 1000 MPH.Just like if push came to shove I woulden't wrestle you, I'd blow you up with a missle...Wrestling may work against another sport, but the human brain would shoot the crap out of a wrestler with an AK47

  • @MedievalKninja

No offence brother, but I don't think it's possible for ANY martial art to kill in one blow (unless you use a knife). After all, I don't think ANYONE has actually witnessed someone kill another person in one strike.

  • Technically you could... I'm training to be a Chiropractor and I know that physically... Punching someone in the back of the head, throat and spine, they technically could die. If you 12 to 6 (bring elbow up and slam it down vertically) elbow someone in the spine or top of the head, they can die. Also the human body can easily generate enough force to collaps the wind pipe. Plus if you count locks and chokes. You can (obviously) choke someone to death, or get them in a spine lock to kill them

  • @ChamorruWarrior

Fair enough. However, Karate isn't the only martial art that teachers you blows to the back of the head.

There are plenty of other martial arts that can teach you those techniques.

  • Yeah you're totally right. There's lots of martial arts that teach those moves. We all have the same body, there's only so many ways to effectively generate an attack, that's why most martial arts look pretty similar and have similar moves.

  • @ACHi11iES Well, you must not read the news... here in my country, one man got killed by a single punch to the head. Another one died after one punch to his throat. And still more, there was this guy who received a very strong strike, probably a kick, to his chest. The broken bones crushed his heart. I don't know if the ones who killed those people were trained fighters, but the point is, that people can actually die from a single strike. Thi is no theory, is reality, and you can't change it.

  • @18100Heath

Cool story ... figured that out quite a while ago.

  • @ACHi11iES what do you mean with hitler laws?

  • @1234561234aa

I'm just trying to say that the Australian laws are so strict and stupid.

  • Does anyone have any idea what the names of the music used in this video are?

  • muito bom mesmo

  • muito bom

  • I was a part of this beaty of selfcontrol and self awareness. Until one unskilled guy make me spine trauma and I had to leave it. I spent 10 years with Shotokan, it's in my heart, it's in soul, it's in my life. I want to show great respect to all great masters of karate. RAY

  • This is the most subtle karate style I ever seen

  • KARATE SUCKS ANY AVERAGE BODYBUILDER WOULD KICK THE SHIT OUT OF THOSE SKINNY KARATE LOSERS

  • @Str82YourFace I hope that you can come and teach my sensei how to fight

  • @Str82YourFace And any karateka bodybuilder would kick the shit out of those average bodybuilders.

  • kick in the head and shins (mainly)

punch in the gut and throat

and elbow in close open areas

    along with awesome take downs

my master mimicry skills of other martial arts makes me GREAT GREAT I TELL YOU

of coarse my original martial art is the best out of all but of coarse its more of the fighter that counts......still...im awesome is the ist of what im getting at here,,,

  • Shotokan... Just Amazing!!! :D

  • BEAUTIFUL JUST BEAUTIFULLLLLLLLL....im a 2nd dan in TKD but i love all the arts

  • Thanks for sharing greatness,, bow

  • In ancient times men learned with a view towards their own improvements, Nowadays men learn with a view towards the approval of others.

  • it's great what is the name of the song?? thanks :DD

  • Nice video.

The double punch @2:56 is quite weak for a black belt though.

  • If you want know practical Karate, I think Okinawa is good.

Okinawa is the place where Karate originated.

  • I wud like 2 visit Japan cuz of Karate. I practice karate for 10 yrs. I got new kimono verified from WKF :) It's amazing feeling. I want 2 go on world competition ship!

  • spirit for karateka

  • How did I get here of watching music

  • hey look bong sao

  • Ive seen this video hundred times, and i never got tired to apreciate the beuaty on it. I am a Shito kai man , but I enjoy with naked eyes and not any stile point of view, I just see karate, discipline, respect and beauty

  • Every fight i've seen has been like the drills these guys are doing, honest.

  • good video

  • foarte frumos pratic si eu

  • Great respect from Indonesia, I'm a silat practitioner...karate is always impress me... please check a video entitled "harimau singgalang volume 2" in youtube, that's an original silat from my village...hope u like it..thanks for sharing

  • @Toolworks I'll give ya' 1000$ if you find only one weakness in Wing Chun.

  • @RF37DK It is not competition sport, very close distance fighting

  • A great video of Karaté Dô Shotokan, I know this Dojo in Tokyo with "Shimenawa" and " Goei" on the "Kamiza" , that is the real spirit of Budô.

  • This is SHOTOKAN Karate!!!!!!!

  • oh please ... use your time, you seem to waste in being over and over such discussions a hundred times, in training.

style is a way, a year of training is a day's march.

and if you still think it's a matter of style, leave your sofa and get real.

because my opinion is, the much you get experienced in budo, the much your interests change why you do martial arts.

and i meant budo, not combat.

  • Thumbs up if Kyokushin is the best!

  • @iDeichmaNN lol...someone got pawned

  • @iDeichmaNN i donr think so

  • @iDeichmaNN its decent for conditioning the body against strikes but I would never use it in a practical sense.

  • @iDeichmaNN Your comment shows that you have no respect for other karatekas and their form of karate. In short you are a bad karateka.

  • the house with the beautiful garden displayed in the beginning of the video is actually the headquarters of JKA?

  • @rockleone121.. well unfortunately for us as humans we will never be perfect. all we can do is strive to be the best we possibly can in martial arts and in life as well. remember the true value of martial arts is to become a better person everyday.

    OSS

  • @mooneydo hahahaaha true but that wasjust a joke

  • Hi everyone! Im a Karateka from Vietnam and I love Karate so much! At the moment Im looking for Kata style- Karate Gi that made in Japan. If you know anyone who sold it online or had an old second-hand gi please contact me. Thanks you very much ! ~Long :D

  • People don't get Kata because they don't have imagination. If you want to explore technique then Kata is essential. Kata gives you unique insight into the foundation of your Karate Style. Its like saying only training full contact (to Kill) will teach you how to defend yourself. If that was the case we wouldn't have many students left.

  • I love karate, I have a black belt in Shotokan. And even though I now train in BJJ, I still like training in kata. I know people say “yeah kata isn't practical” Blah blah blah...I don't care. It helps me in my training that's all that matters. Who said I can't have a blue belt in BJJ and still train in Karate?

  • If you are into Shotokan Karate , Search on Youtube Sensei Fazliu Karate there is some good stuff to watch there.

  • @momo200090 Wait, what? Dude I was being sarcastic. However, I saw your profile that you're in Belgium. Perhaps English is not your first language? I understand why there was a misunderstanding then...

Anyways, this videos very inspiring. Makes me wanna go out and practice karate right now!

  • A true martial artist is one with out ego, its not up for question its just the way. Braggings for idiots

  • 6:56 incredible

  • @farrar101 yeah right like you could do it

  • its not the style that is any better then any other, its the technician who practices it. its not about the style its about the idividual. practice makes perfect nothing else.

  • @mooneydo if practice makes perfect then how come nobody is perfect

  • dumb

  • Oh look! Mr. toolworks strikes again with his vast knowledge of how asian martial art sucks, and give your attention to 101ers77's life time research of how Karate, TKD and Kung Fu sucks compare to Muary Thai and Kali!

What would us martial artists ever do without pioneers like you, toolworks and 101er77?!

Please teach us your ways and enlighten us from our seemingly hopeless idiocracy.

  • @IGPriX fuckyou those martial arts doesn't sucks you sucks.

  • what's the name of the background music/song?

    Thanks.

  • Face it, Karate, Kung Fu and TKD sucks, they're only good for demonstrations, not fighting. Even in martial arts movies, the trend nowadays is to use Muay Thai and Kali, so the fight scenes becomes realistic. Karate, TKD and Kung Fu are dead! They're nothing but McDojos.

  • asdasd 4-5 weeks of karate...you are nothing missme24e you should spend hundreds of hours

  • Comment removed

  • @missme24e applications ain't that simple kiddo ;)

  • Would love to train in a Dojo like this!

  • @GMMAW Yeah! Train in those McDojos. Get a blackbelt within 3 months for 350 dollars. Lol!

  • Shotokan is the best

  • @crazyshitvideo if you don't know about wing chun

  • karate is not and art but a type of building block, it's a sport

  • Why is it that in Shotokan kumites the blocks and techniques in the forms are never utilized? It seems like all attack.

  • With all due respect to all other Asian cultures, because I know how noble spirited they all are,....but to me, Karate seems the most noble and most serious art....

  • @soona86 i think filipino martial arts is Very dirty but effective...bbut not noble at all

  • @soona86 Muay kills Karate anytime of the day.

  • 7:43 the speed of that kick.. i'm mind blowned..

  • @DavidJosephDanbee

pure fighting is fighting like an animal

karate is fighting like a humen

sure they are two different things

  • @nymphoiept but fighting like a human has more of an advantage

  • @toolworks is proud... to be able say he can knockout his 6 years old niece with an uppercut.

  • @kananyzap Every person has his/her own opinion. But it seems unfair why people don't appreciate Taekwondo, it was used by the Koreans to free themselves during the war. The Koreans were even banned to learn Taekwondo and Taekkyon by the Japanese. And today, it's one of the most hated arts across the globe for no reason.

  • @kananyzap I feel bad for Taekwondo, it's being hated for nothing. I wanna see those haters fight a Taekwondo Pro like Cung Le or Anderson Silva and let them see how it feels.

  • i am a brown belt with 3 red tags in karate.

1 year till i am a black belt

  • karate is rubbish, boxing is far far more DEADLY FUCKING DEADLY

  • @toolworks it depend on the fighter not the style

  • @toolworks That is not very polite nor accurate. Karate and other Martial arts have been around for years and have survived and been very useful. Not to mention not only does it involve more than just punching someone, but kicking, takedowns, throws, joint manipulations etc. Also, keep it mind, boxing, MMA and all that derived from techniques from Martial arts. And Karate is just that, an ART, which deals with inner health, spiritual development, centered, and energy balance, not just fight

  • @MrJohnnySharp Hahaha, an art! My 6 year old niece is good at painting, but i could kick her ass with a right uppercut!

  • @toolworks Your niece has nothing to do with this, or her age. Yes, this is an art, a Marital ART. It is about balance, spirituality, inner peace and proper energy flow. That is why meditation is essential to studying karate, or any other traditional martial art. You don't have to like it, but why be rude as to say it is pure crap? I wouldn't say that about boxing, because I know it's all about the practitioner, not the martial art style. Show respect, get respect.

  • @toolworks WTF you don't not know what the meaning martial art is just shut up asshole.

  • @toolworks no martial art is better than another . every martial art has its stength and weaknesses

  • @555hansy Boxing > Karate > TKD > Kung-Fu > Krav Maga > Tai chi ... obviously

  • @555hansy not in ameri-do-tae

"best of all, worst of none"

  • @555hansy not the art has its strength an weakness, but the people who are practicing it
