we had an ok quest but the npc's kept rolling ones so they killed themselfs, it was hilarious, then we went into a cave and a jibberer attacked us but my 23 armour class saved us, you cant predect things like that, thats why d&d is so cool
That's the fine line right there! The depth of the story. I for one enjoy making an in-depth story line that is flexible for the players, usually in campaign settings. But some players prefer a rather straight forward story without a lot of intrigue and background. If you mismatch the story style with the player style, you make for an unhappy gaming experience.
