SOLUTION!!! (PC ONLY) I had this problem too and almost gave up! The answer is to change the in-game video settings to the bare minimum. Mine for example:- Screen Res - 800x600 Refresh Rate - 60hz Vert Sync - Off Aspect Ratios - From Screen Res Texture Quality - Low Enhanced Graphics - Off Restart the game (totally close it) and then once reloaded, go into freeplay and your problem should be solved! Let me know if this works for you as it drove me crazy!

Didn't shut off the game first time .

So, change the settings as Wallasdad told and the shutdown to windows and restart the game

I had stopped playing it and moved on to Lego Harry Potter and that had a major glitch on a level and it was more obvious from looking at it that it was a graphics problem. I did the graphic adjustment there and it worked so went back to POTC and did the same thing and wa relieved!!! Stress finally over and finally got 100% :-)

The settings are in-game. You can access them from Options in Main Menu or by pressing Esc during game play and Options there :-)

I had moved on to Lego Harry Potter and had a huge glitch in a level on that too but it was more obvious that it was a graphics problem from the way it looked.

I set all the levels low and restarted it and solved the problem. So on a hunch, I went back to Pirates and did the same thing and it worked miraculously!!!

Yes. It somehow worked after around 30 minutes of trying, the fourth time I played & refused to give up. Some characters where worse than others.

@sammmurai I tried almost every character, some couldn't move the lever at all. Same with the glitch in your video, where some character combinations seem to be able to push it further.

Maybe when i have time i will try different character combinations, because as it is Free Play sometimes the original characters (From Story Mode - that has no glitch) are not used.

I have the same issue in The Dutchmans Secret, Free Play mode. Takes insanely long to push the green lever under deck to open the gate. The character just runs through it.

I wonder if everyone with the PC version has this glitch? I've googled it & keep seeing your name. xD I wrote to Travellers tales complaining. If enough of us bring this issue up they might bother to fix it.

Lego Pirates of The Caribbean - PC Version

In Dead Man's Chest - Chapter 5: The Kraken there is a "glitch" or a bug in FREE PLAY mode only:

After fixing the glowing piece with Mr. Gibbs, in the main deck when I push the green lever to hoist (lift) the net of explosives, the lever is stuck!

It goes front and then gets back to original position.

I cannot hoist (lift) the explosives, I'm stuck in this level.

Only in FREE PLAY mode, PC Version.
