I'm so sick of idiots saying PowerJoke! If it's a JOKE, then WHY ARE ALL AMBULANCES FORD POWERSTROKE DIESELS? Isn't that an indication of reliability? Obviously nobody remembers that ambulance manufacturers shop around and do quality testing to see who has the best rig, and Chevy boys are hard-up about it.....
ShawnJSpiller... Its not like the stacks give you more HP if there is two of em numnuts, its all about preference. Obviously you think two stacks looks better just the same as other people like the look of one stack. Some people are OCD and need two of em so its "even", drives em nuts if its not i guess. I like the sound of one stack better, the sound dont get broken up. Theyre all messy as hell
Maybe someone can help me with this... Why would someone EVER go with a single stack??? Dual stacks look SOOOOO much better!!!! Is for airflow or something???
Wow, to the guys talking about making 1000plus horses on a powerstroke.. This truck is making 871 horses and 1400lbs torque.. Still makes it the first Powerstroke to break 800. The video of the dyno run is on youtube
it's easy to get a really high pitch whistle from a 7.3 put a tymar intake put a banks quick spool turbo housin on and a 3 inch down pipe to a straight pipe it'll be extremely loud mine is
I would say its still a power stroke. Theres a mechanical injection duramax tractor out there. Just becuase its ran a little different doesnt mean its not a dmax anymore.
@Dieselboy350 Because the injectors arent oil fired. That and the computer is what makes a Powerstroke a Powerstroke. It may be a 7.3 block but thats the only thing. Kale and I from BTS talked about this. BTS is Brians Truck Shop.
its a 7.3L modifed to run a Scheid V pump off a older international engine. none the less the 1500 hp that thing produces turns on the stock crank a powerstroke does so good enough for me
@sonnyc101 ya your correct your dads truck is the idi in direct injection diesel it was produced until 94.5 i have one of the 94 idis these can make power simplier than the powerstroke all you have to do is turn up the ip be sure that your dad keeps a check on the scas in the coolant and its good to go
Love how he spun the tires at that speed. When i floor it on our 93 F350 Dually 7.3idi 5 speed, them tire spins too but when i throw it in 2nd too, it spins a little bit more
Yes, but international made the 7.3's and Ford gave them the name powerstroke and put them into there trucks. When International stoped making the 7.3 to make the more efficient 6.0litre that was a dumb mistake. I like the 6.0 but i prfer the ol 7.3psd
They were kind of forced to due to emmisions laws. They would smoke like a freight train compared to the 6.0 and 6.4. I had a 7.3 and have a 6.0 now,but to be honist I'd still take the 6.0 over the 7.3.. It was a good engine though.
Gotta love the 7.3L. I have a 2000 and it's tricked out, Mangaflow 4 ", DP Tuner, the new Amsoil Air Filters, the K&N let in too much dirt for me, fuel mods, A-Pillarx4, and all that. I smoke so many cars at the line, they can't believ it. Long live the 7.3
i love these trucks. my first was a 92 f150, the sheet metal is the last year of the heavy gauge. they're tough bastards, i have two right now and i want more. if anybody has one and is looking to sell, contact me
mine are both closer to stock than this one. one is selectable 4x4 with a 4.11 rear end. the motor is a 302 (mostly stock) except for headers (it actually shits and gits for how heavy it is). the other truck was 2 wheel but has no drive train. i'm trying to git a drive train built for it to turn it into a puller
it's amazing because you can hear when the turboS kick in after the RPMs get high enough and then the tires start spinning.... its serisouly an amazing truck
that's where you run into the snags with diesels and their turbos.. especially twins... too much lag... the best way is to get some pre-spin up while revving in my oppinion.... LOL!

diezel97 2 years ago
Lots on NOS. and dual turbos and oil pumps, etc. But mainly NOS.
1DieselFuelOnly1 2 years ago
You dont have to have any NOS to make this kind of power. Look up the truck OverTime. ;)
SleeperLBZ 2 years ago
Double Overtime....
SleeperLBZ 2 years ago
Double Overtime really isnt even a PowerStroke. The injectors don't use a high pressure Oil pump. It uses a injector pump.
1DieselFuelOnly1 1 year ago
I would say its still a power stroke. Theres a mechanical injection duramax tractor out there. Just becuase its ran a little different doesnt mean its not a dmax anymore.

Well its all international.. the new 6.7 is coming out and its not navistar so it must not be a powerstroke either huh?
WTG17 1 year ago
I talked to the guys friend from BTS (Kale) and yes it is lots of NOS. The truck was dynoed were I got my truck worked on.
1DieselFuelOnly1 1 year ago
You misunderstood. I said you DONT have to have NOS to make huge power. Yes, this truck does use it, but 1000 horse plus can be made without it.

no, there was the 7.3 IDI and the 7.3 powerstroke, the powerstrokes were better motors

EPA emissions is what actually brought the 7.3 to the end, but they wouldn't be able to compete with that old motor anyways,

it's amazing because you can hear when the turboS kick in after the RPMs get high enough and then the tires start spinning.... its serisouly an amazing truck
azkcr 3 years ago
R there no really big variable geometry turbos that could be used on something like this so that u hardly get any lag?
How about a BOV valve?
tpvalley 3 years ago
that's where you run into the snags with diesels and their turbos.. especially twins... too much lag... the best way is to get some pre-spin up while revving in my oppinion.... LOL!
azkcr 3 years ago
The smaller the turbo, the less lag, easier to spin a small wheel.
So u have 2 turbos with same output etc as 1 and u get less lag but same power.
Big diesels will often have upto 4 turbos!
tpvalley 3 years ago
ehh.. not 4....
azkcr 3 years ago
not 4 for this no, 2 for this.
Some biger engines use 4, a friend of mine owns a preserved locomotive with a v16 and 4 turbos no exhausts, just turbo outlets and 2700hp!
tpvalley 3 years ago
ya.. thats a train... theres not really any diesel trucks that have 4 turbos..
azkcr 3 years ago
funny thing is, it has no wastegates as the rev range is only about 400rpm wide I think!
400-850rpm!
10" bore X 12"stroke and 16 of them!!
The v8 versions hav 2 turbos.
There is a ford diesel with 2 turbos on here.
