  • Nice explanation of the kiln and how an anagama fires.

    I fire with a group from Omaha Clay Works. We fire an anagama outside Ft. Calhoun NE two to four times a year.

    Over the last five years I've progressed from gofer to manging an entire 10 hour shift, (with two side stokers) from the fire box. We fire for six days, cool for ten

    I agree with the sense you convey about a dedicated, supportive, nurturing crew and atmosphere that usually surrounds these firings.

  • Very interesting and quite a project. We just went to see a show with the work of Tom Coleman and Frank Boyden, many of the pots were wood fired. Great surfaces. I do soda, but have yet to be involved with a wood firing. It sounds like a lot of work and exciting at the same time. Thanks for sharing this video.
