  • Was there a reason why he waited before connecting supplemental O2? Why wouldn't you connect the O2 right away?

  • The reason is that, in the scenario, the patient has been apneic for an undetermined amount of time. The NREMT standard requires at least 30 seconds of room air with the BVM. Remember, this is a TESTING standard.

  • Thank You.

  • Yeah, the skills test requires that you first ventilate the patient. If you connect O2 first then the proctor can fail you for delaying ventilation.

  • The Gold Standard - Thanks!

  • Thanks for the video. This is helpful, I take my Skills exam Saturday

  • I cant even tell you how perfect your demo's are... Thank you, for preparing me for my EMT practicals!

  • Shouldn't you also do pulse oximetery?

I mean because the patient's oxygen levels need to be CLOSELY monitored.

    Good video!

  • that would be a good practice, though depending on the situation, it may not be reliable. As a reminder, these are NREMT standard (or at least very close, in my opinion) demos and not necessarily all-encompassing tecnhiques. Just NREMT evaluation demos. Thanks for your comments.

  • THANK YOU!
