Was there a reason why he waited before connecting supplemental O2? Why wouldn't you connect the O2 right away?

Yeah, the skills test requires that you first ventilate the patient. If you connect O2 first then the proctor can fail you for delaying ventilation.

Shouldn't you also do pulse oximetery?
I mean because the patient's oxygen levels need to be CLOSELY monitored.
