Either this isn't Ron Goodwin conducting or there's something wrong with the recording. I love this song, but in this rendintion, there are no nuances, no playfulness, no joy, just a painful-playing-the notes. Better listen elsewhere folks.
.'When I'm a man I'll take me a wife, and live in a house on a hill, a hill...(something something) and she shall have diamonds & pearls, and pearls, and she shall have diamonds and pearls!'
I am very sad so few people are voting for this piece of music! A classic film theme! And the theme to the London Marathon! Ron Goodwin was a composer not recognised in his lifetime for his music! But... we can make a difference! Let's get Ron belatedly knighted or at least Honoured in someway! Think of the film themes he composed!
I watch the London Marathon every year just to hear this music. It's so good. I never thought to look on You Tube, and here it is! Thanks so much for posting.
We have been given permission by the UK Cabinet Office to apply for the composer of this music, Ron Goodwin, to be belatedly knighted for his services to cinema music. If you want to show your support for this please message me! This site will not let me publish the email link! We have already had emails of support from the UK, The Netherlands, New Zealand the USA and we have only been going a week! If it makes people go to London and run 28 miles for charity - Ron deserves a quick email surely
I fully support your cause for Ron Goodwin to be Knighted he made some fantastic records and film music I saw this whilst I was searching for a piece of music of his called The Headless Horesman which my mother loved,I hope you are succesfull Good Luck..
Second that. Have watched my dad run it for 11 years. Cannot wait until I walk into the expo to the sound of 'the london marathon music' when I finally run it myself =)
It`s took me ages to find this music for my wife! She knew the film starred Oliver Reed & Rita Tushingham and was released in 1966 but we didn`t know who did the musical score .....until now!! Thanks for posting :o)
I saw The trap when I was 13.......at a theater in North Vancouver. Chief Dan George of North Vancouver has a cameo part in the movie. Dan George was the old indian grandfather of Dustin Hoffman in Little Big Man. anyways this peice of music by Ron Goodwin really adds magic to the movie......great opening scene.Oliver Reed fantastic in the part.
Love it!

Majestic music reminding me of my days at sea. Can't hear it without seeing spray flying from the bows of my ship as she "hits a milestone"!

The London Marathon theme. I've done it twice: 2005 and 2007.
Brilliant tune.
