  • Awkwaaaaard.

  • that was pretty good foreplay! can't wait to see the second installment :))

  • goddamn, man up you fag. why the hell is that guy dressed so effeminately?

  • Excellent work, but please dump the crash zooms and hand-held-as-a-style cinematography: they already look trite.

  • Can only point to all the other posts for what I think of this production.

It hit me right in the heart (and guts). Very well written and performed! You are good at grabbing the essence and deliver it right there at the screen...

    Many Greetings... Thofus.

  • This is such a sweet, sad little short. Great work. Simply beautiful.

  • The only thing that kept me from yelling: "Kiss her! Kiss her!" was the fact that I want Ella all for myself. :$

Also: Holy crap, Ella can act!

  • 5 people are justin bieber fans

  • Very good. I especially liked how her legs shook in the silhouette shot of her as he climbed the tree. I sometimes do that when I'm nervous.

  • loved it, so simple

  • Someone said, "Everytime I say good bye, I die a litlle", that is the feeling that this message that this short film leaves in my heart.

  • I could tell this was made around Christmas (Not sure how) ... then I checked the upload date and saw I was right! This has such a refreshing vibe and a very very very christmas esque new and hopeful feel that is at the same time stunted by the awkwardness of life. Much love you guys. Carboni you are the man. Keep doing shorts bro

  • That is so Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson!!!

  • I just realized it's basically Peter Parker and MJ!

  • Well acted. Nicely layered too. He seemed more broken up about things than she did. Good stuff. Definitely felt it.

  • I love a cute redhead

  • This was touching. Nice job.

  • Captured the awkwardness of some people very well!

    Depressing.

  • i just want to say this was flippin great!!

  • I really liked this. Great acting, especially Ella. Really captured that awkward moment!

  • sad

  • Very nice acting for an Amateur short

  • Very nice short! It really seems to capture how awkward leaving can be. What did you use to shoot it? The high def looks amazing. (So does Ella :) )

  • @fhantazm hey thanks man! it was shot on an hpx170 by an awesome DP named Bob Geile. See the description for links to his other work.

  • I like this. Well done! It reminds me of my ex and I. Though in our case, she was American, and I'm Australian.

  • @JackingToPreggoVids Ella would eat you for breakfast.

  • I prefer oatmeal, but I'll keep my options open.

  • Everything was great, just needs more. Left with this feeling of wishing you new what already happened and what's to come. Would love to see more work like this.

  • Thanks for sharing!

  • KIWI!

  • Well done!! Too classy for YouTube though!?

  • @laserteeth I would much rather be 'too hot for YouTube,' but I'll take classy in a pinch.

  • I'll take "classy" too :)

  • really good...fresh and confident vision

  • Thank you!!!!!

  • nicely done by all involved.

  • Love sucks!

  • Awkward for sure.

Important thing to learn: be prepared to converse. However there is a difficulty, emotions.

Nice acting by Carboni, I think he did a good job. Photography was good, and Ella did good acting as well.

Carboni did a great job. I really like it how he sings those lyrics, he responds a quick 'yeah' to Ella's question, then is totally silent and sad throughout the rest of the short. Poor guy, so sad about her leaving, couldn't even say good bye. Great emotion.

  • @TheBigLon Thanks, Lon! Much appreciated!

  • LOL AWKWARD

Great work gang, I love it

  • Best winter day I've spent yet

  • Dang, dude. Makes me think there's really some sexual tension between Anthony and Ella. Could really feel the emotions.

  • Great job. I watched this because Indy Mogul/Bobby Miller posted something about it, but I really enjoyed it! Loved the colors and the way you shot it. And I thought both the actors did wonderfully. (p.s. I miss mix TAPES instead of Cds) :D

  • @Lizeelou2 Thanks! And yeah - there's something a little more personal and "handmade" about a well thought-out mixtape.

  • @Lizeelou2 I miss mix tapes too. I still have one from an ex-gf and I still have the tape player to it as well. I do still like the songs as I go back to a younger age in my mind while listening to it. Haven't listened to it in years now though.

  • That was properly awkward. I had a more emotional parting when my exchange student from Japan left.

  • I was thinking to myself, "Go ON, man! Go ahead and tell her!"

  • I was linked here from TheHill88's Twitter comment and rated this 5 stars cuz I know how hard goodbye's are, even if it's only for a couple weeks.

When I was a senior in high school I was dating a woman that was a freshman in college. I was 18 and she was 20. I was so in love with her and it was at the end of her college semester. She lived in South Dakota in a city about 5 hours from me here in Iowa and it was so hard to say goodbye.

This video seems simple but emotions are complex.

  • Excellent cinematography! The shot of her under the limb of the tree is very beautiful and expressive.

The acting is very good, as well. It demonstrates how powerful it can be when actors embody very particular intentionality in specific ways.

The dramatic tension created is impressive, given the length. We find out a lot about the characters in a very short time, very efficiently (for example, brushing his teeth connects with what later becomes clear regarding his hopes).

    Nice work!

  • Excellent pauses and quiet bits. I love how important silences are

  • This is very simple but VERY sweet.

  • I still love the look Anthony's character gives Ella at 2:21. So good. And whenever I watch this I hear the line from The Departed in my head: Your vulnerability is really freaking me out right now.

    : )

  • yes it really is! :)

  • OMG is that a cassette player?!

  • You really got to love the old tech that you can find still running are.
