Great video, I grew up in Marine City and drifted down the river many times on inner-tubes. I never knew there was old ship wrecks underneath us kids. lol -David
oh wow! I'm from marine city, and I used to go swimming in the river with friends while I was in high school. We always saw people scuba diving in the river and I always wondered, "what the heck are they looking for here??" lol. I had no idea there was shipwrecks. Where abouts is this located? near anitas?
There are a few wrecks on the stretch between MC beach and Anita's. There's not a whole lot left of the "Anita's Wreck" as we call it... just some wood, you can tell it was something. There are a lot of antique bottles and stuff sown there too.
Hey Guys, this is Dan from Capitol City Scuba. Thanks for inviting us out yesterday ! had a great time. Hope the fin I found your bud still is good.-------------------- For anyone watching this video, these are a great group o guys to dive with !
This is Stephanie Dort. Used to work at Perruche. I'm in Florida now and was just doing a search on Marine City and there was you and your house and the dive I had heard about! I remember when you two were just getting certified! How exciting for you! Ever find out what those ships were? Alot of people in Marine City used boat wood to build their houses. Maybe discarded leftovers?
This drift was from Marine City beach and came out at Anita's restaurant...maybe 3/4 of a mile. The 1st wreck is maybe 10 minutes into the drift. it's quite big but a lot is buried still. The 2nd wreck is right behind anita's and is quite popular. not much of it left. 1st exit point is about 5 blocks. then there are a few ladders built into the seawall every few blocks after that.
Unfinished Monkey Business is a good album - search "Corpses in their mouths" on YouTube.
I jumped in from the beach a little way north earlier this year and was surprised at how strong the current was! I loved it and have been looking out for accessible river wrecks, if only I had known I was so close!
We've went in at Marwood, about a mile north of the beach and came out at Anita's... 1 1/2 miles total drift. The current before hte beach is very fast because the river bottlenecks there. We dive all winter. Feel free to dive with us. I stopped in and got a tour from Bruno a few months back. He's still going to redo my drysuit zipper. I was the "former" dive rite rep and mentioned that while there. maybe we met... unless you are Bruno, then indeed we have.

Good video and great music - since you're a "solo" guy you should check out some of Ian Brown's newer solo stuff (if you haven't already).
How far along the sea wall are those wrecks and how far past them do you have to go before there's an exit point?

Hello and thanks! I'll check out Ian's stuff.

Ha! No, this is Rick - Bruno's more of an oldies man, not quite so down with the Stone Roses!
I don't think we met but thanks for the offer, I will definitely take you up on it some time.
