I take it that California, Washington, et. al., are not Right to Work states, where one cannot be forced to join a union. I do think it's counterproductive for a company not to treat its employees well. I've worked for places where training was practically non-existent, and one had to fend for oneself. On the other hand, I was told not to ever expect a company to provide health insurance, unless I was able to get a good education, and be a white collar worker somewhere.
...learn some professionalism and networking skills and maybe shoot a little lower on the corporate structure than the CEO -- the guy who probably spends all days in meetings and/or playing golf. I wish you would have spent more time on this, rather than getting all butthurt because someone with a bigger agenda than you doesn't call you back.
Capitalism sometimes will cause unreasonable salaries, but realistically we are looking at employees who perform minimal duties. What should they be paid? These are jobs for a sixteen year old to start out in (except cutting/butcher) and move on. Additionally, as "documentary movie makers" you think getting in touch with a CEO of a major corp is as easy as picking up the phone? You're doing a good thing by making public the capitalist method that results in poor employee treatment, but
If you want to meet the CEO, Jeff, just ask a store employee when their next corporate visit is. Then you can meet the guy personally on the sales floor, that easy...
This is America. No one is forcing you to work for minimum wage. If you want a better paying job, go educate yourself and get one. Retail grocery pays better than minimum wage plus benefits. For unskilled labor, you can't complain about that. The UFCW has the bargaining power of over a million workers! If they can't negotiate a better wage, you probably don't deserve it.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
So the meat cutter couldn't have paid $120 for the outpatient procedure and around $45 for the antibiotics? The company has to pick up a $450/mo package for him?
Pretty friggin' pathetic. Did you know full blood testing, cardio stress test and electrocardiogram (and office fees) cost less than $700 if you pay in cash? Did any of you pining here realize how much is wasted having to go through and deal with the paperwork of insurance? How much is added to the price of health care?
good thing im secure with my job even though i hate working for Smith's in produce it's better than nothing i used to work for albertsons 2 years ago and they sucked so bad i had no coverage barely any hours and a bullshit pay rate im glad that now i get at least 30 to 35 hours a week at $9.75 an hour and our union actually fights for the employees to make sure we all have our benefits and rights
So sad well here where I live we only have Super Wal-Mart, Super Target, and HEB that provide groceries. Although there is one Albertsons left about 25 mins away from where I live. It's not a Supervalu Albertsons though. It's one of the ones that's part of the Albertsons LLC, or the "other" Albertsons.
Just got back from Vons: you can't get out of there without them asking you to donate for this cause or that - the kicker? ask a Von's employee whether Vons will match your dollar, and they look at you with a look of utter confusion. Nice one Vons: try and play the good guys off of other people's wallets, but you don't have the kindness to donate shit yourself. Pathetic.
I always wondered if that is actually true when I started at vons I got plenty of threatening letters saying that they would terminate me if i didn't join I'm not so sure if the union has the power to do that. I had a co-worker that worked for almost a year withouth the union and nothing happened
A lot of people fail to realize that you cant go to a third world country and pay its workers $8 an hour when it costs 3 cents for a fish head and a cup of rice. Its simple economics. Even though somebody making $75,000 would seem it is unfair to pay somebody $1 a day, to them its a job they didnt have before.
I am an employee of albertson's I do know what you mean and I agree with the lack of raises seeing as I am maxed at 12dollars an hour with oregon having some high cost of living I dont see this increase and my store is unionized and we are screwed over and over. I have 80 hours to run my department when I need atleast 90 hours to. They tell me that I have to cut my hours and my employee's hours because my dept does not turn a profit. I am sorry that the Customer Service does not turn a profit.
I work for Dillons in Kansas. Begun by Mr. Dillon himself, I believe David is his grandson. This video really doesn't surprise me, there is allot of truth to it. More people need to know about this!
I worked at vons too, and is expensive, and the stupid Union is bullshit!! You people keep buying at walmart, we are just making people rich by paying The Union, and this grocery stores speacily VONS don't give a shit for the emmployes, they want you to be 24 hours 7 days a week available for them, without giving you an apportunnity to study, and giving you the minimun hours, they are so RETARDED,
its easy to blame wal-mart and big money corporations. but the reality is that capatilism and greed is every where. nothing is sacred. from your text books in schools to christian holidays, somewhere there is someone reaping in a profit. if there is blame to be pointed at someone it should be ourselves. because the truth is we are told what to buy, and big corporations spend millions on ads to make you feel that need to buy stuff to make you happy. i could go as far to say that your education...
...has made you ignorant. your text books, are filterd so that many truths about your nation is either kept from you, or twiked so that its sound nicer than it is. we live in a scoiety that is runed by less than one percent of the population. although the 90percent poor and middle class out number the rich, we are still weak? how could less than one percent keep the rest of you like sheep? dont they get the same education? same rights? and same amount of chances as we do? NO....
it saddens me to see our once great nation fall apart because the rich want to make a buck in iraq. i belive if people really want to make a difference, they must learn to be happy with themselves. afther they acomplish this they can focus on issues like community unity, write your congress, state assembly. get people to vote smart. i cant stand this 2008 a election, because the main focus like issues are lost between race, gender, and age none of which will help our nations image...
...these are just some of my thoughts, i dont mean to rant, and im sorry. i worked for alberstons for 8yrs as a meat clerk. after surviving the merger, i also had to go through the lock-out. and i did my time on the picket lines, althoug i did not vote for a stirke. i saw many of my co-workers selfishly leaving us few to do the fighting as they left the line to find work. i was paid 100 buck for 40 hours on the picket lines, less than min. wage. i also went to college part time, and did a...
...paper route. it was winter and very cold, a friend of mine got sick on the line, went home becuase fear of catching a cold, and the day after dies. it was hard. and our union rep was just insult to injury. he brought us fresh picket signs. while most of us were close to losing our homes, for six months we worked for pennies, and our union rep was stil getting his full pay check. the lock out taught me a lot about the unions and corporations. both dont care about you or i, only a profit...
unions have lost their luster, and now have become semi-corporations where they take your union dues and invest it so the can make money for your "retirement" in reality you only get back what you put in, any profits they make on their investments is theres. and as for albertsons, the strike could go on for ever because they were planing to sell it any ways to open up bristol farms a union free store. in the end the picketers and consumers both lose. unions and corporations still made up their..
...losses from the lock out and strike, and most of us grocery veterans who could retire, did, and those who could find other jobs, left. and i simply quit, to become a teacher. so what im trying to say after this long post, is that complain all you want about wal-mart and big corporations, but the reality is no one is making you buy that big plasma TV, or the crap you "need" just be humble, because if you really want to hurt big corporations is to keep your money spend it on gerage sales.
...wow, that is the same thing Jimmy Hoffa did as well. And their were congressional hearings about that. And it all continues. Are you talking about the merger with Buttrey Foods in Montana or another I don't know about?
the merger i was refering to was between albertsons and lucky's. after the merger the government steped in and told albertsons that it had too many stores and had a major influence on the market. so albertsons had to sell hunderds of stores, and in my location there were four stores sold to stater brothers. it was a mess, people were laid off, other were transferd up to 60 miles away. well, hope that was usful.
I worked at one of the biggest corporations as project manager,I always asked my superiors that why do we hire workers as contractors and not as permanent employees?answer: this way we can avoid paying raises as we can throw away some and bring back others anytime.I quit after a few months because I refused to conform to their brainwashing shallow robotic money-alligator culture
The company is P&G, I made a project that saved it 1.5million$, my salary was 700$ = my rent and sandwiches for lunch
BlueBerry, perfectly worded! Your 100% correct! Like I said; I started off at $6.95 three years ago as a cashier, in CA, I only make a few bucks more than that now, I am now a Supervisor. I would be shocked if anybody makes anywhere near $19 an hour where I work. I do believe they already start out more than what I started out at though. Maybe we all can agree that pay and benefits are not fair?
That guy at the beginning talking about his infection is an idiot because he has no insurance and didn't take the step to get proper insurance. He waited too damn long to get some medical help and sadly that is what happens when your not responsible.
This is complete bullshit. I have been with Albertsons for almost two years and I make more than anyone else my age. We get a raise each year, and when I say we, I mean the entire northwest because it is a strong union state. (Washington) I know that California's union contract they make between 19.50-23.00 an hour plus premiums and special pay. I really don't know to many entry level jobs that allow you to make that. And who would make more at a fast food place...
Not all of California has the same contract. I am in local union 101 which runs from San Francisco up North into Southern Oregon I believe. I work for Safeway, in which they own Von's stores and have been with the company for over 5 years. Our cost of living isn't as high as southern California therefore we don't get paid as much.
Sorry, I did mean southern California. Since I do know they are the ones I always hear about. But none the less, I know I still make a lot more than the avg Walmart employee. Also know that fulltime with Albertsons is 32+ hours.. walmart is either 24 or 28 hours considered fulltime
"Our cost of living isn't as high as southern California therefore we don't get paid as much." You have got to be joking! I lived in SOCAL for over 30 years and moved to NORCAL. Living in NORCAL for 7 years. For me, NORCAL has been much MORE expensive to live. I want to go back to SOCAL, wages seems slightly fairer in SOCAL and the cost of living is either the same as NORCAL or a bit lower. I can't believe how expensive it is to live in NORCAL!!! Companies up here also don't pay anything!
Just sounds to me that some of you buy into the B.S. that they tell you. They are only feeding you that B.S. to make you think that you don't deserve the same pay b/c they tell you that the cost of living is less than another area....B.S.!!! They just don't want to pay you the same, so they make excuses, make u believe them, period!!! Because you buy into the B.S., that ruins it for everybody else that it also effects.
Okay, now lets say you work your way up and say for example you work there for 5 years and you make 19 bucks an hour. Now they hire someone off the street to do the same job and you are not bothered that they start at 19 bucks an hour?
I am with a company under the same union. I am in California. I get paid a few bucks above minimum wage! Many of my co-workers work 2 jobs. Seems like nothing is covered under benefits and/or the deductible & co-pay is way too high. Medical bills seem outrages for basic care. Having health benefits means nothing anymore (see Sicko). Entry pay where I work is about $7.00. I worked my way up from cashier to supervisor and still only make a few bucks more than minimum wage.
i work in southern california albertsons, and those who use to make 20+ are meat cutters, cashier, and key carriers who have been hired under the old contract over ten years ago. if in case you havent heard the lock-out we endured only made things worse, because albersonts was gona sell the chain anyways thats why the lock-out lasted so long, to beat down the union and veteran grocery workers those who get hired under the new contract are getting the bitter end of a once respectiable job.
um, unless you live in the middle of nowhere, yea, you do have a choice. the average shopper isn't thinking "ok, economics is telling me to go to albertson's instead of the local store". i generally support unions, but i try not to support organizations that are clearly pushing for socialism.
another thing: southern california's cost of living is higher because of gas prices, and housing costs. middle class housing is decreasing in so cal.
Thanks, Robert, for being a true American fighting real issues with brains and heart. Forget the know-nothing kneejerks; never done anything, can't understand those who can. Taxes wasted on this fake war could covera public health program many times over. "Higher taxes" fear is hollow; we're debt slaves now from loans taken to make up for lack of free public education and health. Loans makes us all work-slaves for corporate vampires feeding off of us. Let's take them out.
uhm, this is isn't important. you want to talk about social business responsibility? lets talk airline subsidies, telecommunications, agri-business, health care, privatized schools, etc...
Companies can't make a profit without the workers. If all workers from all companies united and quit for 3 weeks, Guess who would profit. Turn the tables, We are the United States of America. United is the only way workers will succeed. The Money mongers are united, that is why they are cashing in. All workers of America unite.
A potentially interesting documentary - *IF* the audio were actually audible. Bravenewfilms - if you wanna go big time, then people have got to be able to hear your audio!!
I think that the people of this country need to wake up and appreciate the freedoms that we have and really put more importance on the educations we receive than just he lip service that is currently paid by politicians. Appreciate your opportunities that American freedom brings to you, and realize that there are not as many people around the world that hate Americans as the media of today will have you believe.
The amount of taxes that it takes to support this type of program in other countries is up to at least 60% in some countries. I don't think the quality of life in America would be better if the government took 60% of our money for a health care system that would be destroyed by the bureaucracy that is the government.
Government controlled health care would be a giant mistake. The costs would be more than we could bear. There have been several comments regarding socialized health care in other countries, but there has not been much mentioned about the amount of taxes that are required to be payed by citizens of those countries.
I just want to say we all in UFCW stand united with our follow bothers and sisters fighting the 3 out west .We will overcome Next year the Dominick"s contract will be up and together as I said at our last strike vote meeting we stand united with our union !UNITED WE STAND !!!!!!!!
i work at an albertsons and they are pretty ridiculous.
i have to pay union dues for 18 months before i can get medical benefits. its very unfair.
if we strike though, i have no idea what i'm going to do, which is the case for alot of my fellow employees. 1,000's of people just cant go out and get another job.
Yes, I only buy locally and I make darn sure I know where the food has come from too! I buy my meat from local farmers who raise organically fed beef. China is killing our pets and putting the same poison in our food too! They will not check our beef for mad cow disease; it would cost them too much! In other words, we Americans don't count and our lives and the lives of our loved ones mean nothing to them.
And what i meant when i said "I didnt care about my grammar, was i dont care about what people think of me on youtube, and if i did care of what people though of me on youtube, and took it to heart i would have something wrong with me, and i dont take anyone to heart on youtube;cause, its a fucking JOKE! Sort of like your LIFE!
I stopped spending anything at Wal-Mart a long time ago; I buy only American products. Also, I refuse to spend any of my money for any of their "thingys"; I buy only food for my family and critters until the traitors to OUR democracy are OUT of OUR house! Support America and your countrymen by buying only American products from small, local business in your area!
Wiskwind, your to dumb to realize that most of the products that you buy arent American made, and you're also to dumb to realize that wal-mart is your favorite place to shop hypocrite. Get a life loser.
I do not shop at Wally World! LOL I would go without, before I would spend one dime at any of these stores. I am not a "sheeple" and I do not run in a herd like so many of you do!
Wiskawind, you fail to realize that you eventually have to buy groceries, toilet-paper, clothes, hygeine products, and the rest of what a person needs to live. So, you have to get it somewhere;unless, you don't wipe your ass, and you don't eat food, or take showers. Therefore, you have to shop somewhere. Weither it be, Wal-mart, Albertsons, or any of those stores. So you do flock into groups!
I do have to say we are shopping ourselves out of jobs, The more we give over our paychecks to wal-mart the more they have control. It'ripples down to lower standers. Jobs, insurance, quilty, indpendance (wow now that's a big one), and the list can go on and on.
Having grown up in the 50s, I'm often amazed how the younger people today have such a poor attitude about unions. Thank you for your conscious films. I hope at least a few people can watch and learn, instead of criticize you for imaginary prejudice. You people rock.
I agree with you completely. Being a "young person" as you call them, I dislike how people my age place such low value on unions, something that's critical to keeping employment fair.
So, let me get this straight; no pay raises in "forever", and "exponential" increases in medical insurance payments. And the union has done what exactly for it's members, all the while collecting dues and fees? Is anyone aware of how much the union president is making? Is anyone aware that when the grocery employees go on strike, the union headquarter staff remain employed with all their benefits?
Exactly!! UNIONS!! ...shezzz what a scam! You all have to remember one thing here, The employees do not want to strike, But the UNION tells them to, and then raises Union dues when the strike is over. Whos really looking out for who here?
I dont feel sorry for the people that work at Albertsons their UNION and wal-mart is not. So therefore UNION workers make way more than regular employees. So quit fucking whinning.
Poor white trash like your mother and father and brother. Your pathetic, this is fucking youtube, and i could care less if i accidently spelled something incorrectly. You want to be a grammar not "grammer" like you spelled it. So obviously your the one who is fucking poor white trash. Fucking internet banger. 818.
The reason you don't care about your grammar, or the vocabulary crutches that litter your comments is because you are uneducated! If you had even a minor education, you would take more pride in the way you conduct yourself in a public forum. Trying to get one's opinion across to others without an adequate vocabulary to express that opinion with is a waste of time; check out your local community college, it might help!
Wiskwind, you should talk a lot about vocabulary and grammar. "That opinion with is a waste of time"? Learn how to write a sentence that makes sense. And local college, i have my BA in Human Services, and a 4 year degree, so talking about schooling it sounds like you need some with your inproper sentence structure.
WRONG AGAIN. YOUR should be spelled YOU'RE. You have not accidently MISSPELLED something incorrectly, everything that comes out of your undeveloped brain is incorrect. Go back to grade school. It's obvious you never graduated from there.
Have you ever haerd that you are an asshole? Not everybody has the means for higher education , and ignorant fucktards like you, cbreitel, are worse than someone w/ no degree.
There is always the Library if a person wants an education. Lincoln was self-educated and look at what he was able to accomplish. I lived on the streets from the time I was thirteen years old until I was nineteen and only had a eight grade education; it wasn't until I was in my late thirties that I was able to get my GED and go to the community college near where I live. Anyone can educate themselves if they want to.
well, aren't you the poster child for pulling ones self up by the bootstraps? So untill you earned that GED you had nothing but high-paying jobs? You could stay away from shit jobs like wallmart and such? The point is that even people w/ shitty jobs deserve health care. And , yes i have a college degree, not from a CC either.
I have had so many crappie jobs I can't count them all. What makes you think that I am against health care for everyone? I believe everyone person in this country should have free health care just as they do in France, Canada, Britain and Cuba. If you like to shop in those stores, so be it. I choose not to and that is my right.
Do you believe that junkies, alcoholics and illegals who have not paid a dime in taxes should have access to our health care system? Know that socialized health care is anything but free. England, France and Canada (where I grew up) almost went bankrupt because of it and according to friends of mine from Europe, the quality of their health care does not compare to ours.
Also, if your need anything other than basic health care such as a kidney transplant, you better have private ins. or you will die waiting. Last I heard, one fifth of every tax dollar is spent on health care in Canada.
We must NOT shop at these locations. That's it..just break them. They only care about money and let's not give them ours. This is shameful. I will from now on only shop at Whole foods, Trader Joe's and local markets. We can put these compnies out of business if we band together.
Your local co-op or farmer's market++++++++ more than Whole Paycheck. And Trader Joe's is better tha nmost, but their produce section is to be avoided. It doesn't buy local and you should buy unfrozen produce that comes in pre-sealed in bags. E coli can thrive quickly in sealed bags of say, spinach salad mix, which aren't vacuum sealed or frozen. They contain air and particles of feces, and the bag can become it's own thriving humid travel-size hothouse.
Quality education and worker justice are the only ways to save the lower classes. It's no longer about the honour of work in this country, it's the honour of profit. The ultimate end to a truly capitolist system is soical darwinism, and those of us born insects are doomed to be consumed by the other starving beasts in the jungle.
Probably what will happen is that things will get really bad for some unforseen reason, and the rich will take there money and move to other countries that are not having a civil or class war. Just now it is a stick and carrot kind of society. Sooner or later the pack animal will become exhausted and fall. It will become life and death. It will be over here more than over there. The rich will come back when the killing has subsided.
The forest is a nice place to be unless it gets dry and someone lights up. "Only you can prevent forest fires" smokey the bear said that. We might be in danger, and the rich folks could not care less.
Basic "grammer?" You sure know how to spell 818 you love to eat dick. So why dont you lock the door before mom comes in and sees you with your pants down internet banger. And oh yeah take a fucking spelling class.
You're a jerk. You know a lot of people misspell that word? Just because you're on the Internet doesn't mean you need to insult people. You just make nobody want to listen to you because you're a mean person. You're the one who sounds stupid when you start insulting people on the Internet.
I got hurt on the job and the workman's comp that i was forced to pay for in order to work basically just kicked me to the curb and took a crap on my head. All i had was my house, so it is a good thing there is bankruptcy. If you really need something done, plan on going to India. There are sites on the web that will help you.

Pathetic.

A lot of people fail to realize that you cant go to a third world country and pay its workers $8 an hour when it costs 3 cents for a fish head and a cup of rice. Its simple economics. Even though somebody making $75,000 would seem it is unfair to pay somebody $1 a day, to them its a job they didnt have before.

its easy to blame wal-mart and big money corporations. but the reality is that capatilism and greed is every where. nothing is sacred. from your text books in schools to christian holidays, somewhere there is someone reaping in a profit. if there is blame to be pointed at someone it should be ourselves. because the truth is we are told what to buy, and big corporations spend millions on ads to make you feel that need to buy stuff to make you happy. i could go as far to say that your education...

NO....

it saddens me to see our once great nation fall apart because the rich want to make a buck in iraq. i belive if people really want to make a difference, they must learn to be happy with themselves. afther they acomplish this they can focus on issues like community unity, write your congress, state assembly. get people to vote smart. i cant stand this 2008 a election, because the main focus like issues are lost between race, gender, and age none of which will help our nations image...

unions have lost their luster, and now have become semi-corporations where they take your union dues and invest it so the can make money for your "retirement" in reality you only get back what you put in, any profits they make on their investments is theres. and as for albertsons, the strike could go on for ever because they were planing to sell it any ways to open up bristol farms a union free store. in the end the picketers and consumers both lose. unions and corporations still made up their..

the merger i was refering to was between albertsons and lucky's. after the merger the government steped in and told albertsons that it had too many stores and had a major influence on the market. so albertsons had to sell hunderds of stores, and in my location there were four stores sold to stater brothers. it was a mess, people were laid off, other were transferd up to 60 miles away. well, hope that was usful.

Trentacus 4 years ago
Not all of California has the same contract. I am in local union 101 which runs from San Francisco up North into Southern Oregon I believe. I work for Safeway, in which they own Von's stores and have been with the company for over 5 years. Our cost of living isn't as high as southern California therefore we don't get paid as much.
butttalkdotcom 4 years ago
Sorry, I did mean southern California. Since I do know they are the ones I always hear about. But none the less, I know I still make a lot more than the avg Walmart employee. Also know that fulltime with Albertsons is 32+ hours.. walmart is either 24 or 28 hours considered fulltime
Trentacus 4 years ago
"Our cost of living isn't as high as southern California therefore we don't get paid as much." You have got to be joking! I lived in SOCAL for over 30 years and moved to NORCAL. Living in NORCAL for 7 years. For me, NORCAL has been much MORE expensive to live. I want to go back to SOCAL, wages seems slightly fairer in SOCAL and the cost of living is either the same as NORCAL or a bit lower. I can't believe how expensive it is to live in NORCAL!!! Companies up here also don't pay anything!
chellebell07 4 years ago
Just sounds to me that some of you buy into the B.S. that they tell you. They are only feeding you that B.S. to make you think that you don't deserve the same pay b/c they tell you that the cost of living is less than another area....B.S.!!! They just don't want to pay you the same, so they make excuses, make u believe them, period!!! Because you buy into the B.S., that ruins it for everybody else that it also effects.
chellebell07 4 years ago 2
Okay, now lets say you work your way up and say for example you work there for 5 years and you make 19 bucks an hour. Now they hire someone off the street to do the same job and you are not bothered that they start at 19 bucks an hour?
Trentacus 4 years ago
I am with a company under the same union. I am in California. I get paid a few bucks above minimum wage! Many of my co-workers work 2 jobs. Seems like nothing is covered under benefits and/or the deductible & co-pay is way too high. Medical bills seem outrages for basic care. Having health benefits means nothing anymore (see Sicko). Entry pay where I work is about $7.00. I worked my way up from cashier to supervisor and still only make a few bucks more than minimum wage.
chellebell07 4 years ago
i work in southern california albertsons, and those who use to make 20+ are meat cutters, cashier, and key carriers who have been hired under the old contract over ten years ago. if in case you havent heard the lock-out we endured only made things worse, because albersonts was gona sell the chain anyways thats why the lock-out lasted so long, to beat down the union and veteran grocery workers those who get hired under the new contract are getting the bitter end of a once respectiable job.

another thing: southern california's cost of living is higher because of gas prices, and housing costs. middle class housing is decreasing in so cal.

I think that the people of this country need to wake up and appreciate the freedoms that we have and really put more importance on the educations we receive than just he lip service that is currently paid by politicians. Appreciate your opportunities that American freedom brings to you, and realize that there are not as many people around the world that hate Americans as the media of today will have you believe.
tewgroup 4 years ago
The amount of taxes that it takes to support this type of program in other countries is up to at least 60% in some countries. I don't think the quality of life in America would be better if the government took 60% of our money for a health care system that would be destroyed by the bureaucracy that is the government.
tewgroup 4 years ago
Government controlled health care would be a giant mistake. The costs would be more than we could bear. There have been several comments regarding socialized health care in other countries, but there has not been much mentioned about the amount of taxes that are required to be payed by citizens of those countries.
tewgroup 4 years ago

TheWrekkedTrain 4 years ago
I have had so many crappie jobs I can't count them all. What makes you think that I am against health care for everyone? wiskawind 4 years ago
8182424039 4 years ago
Also, if your need anything other than basic health care such as a kidney transplant, you better have private ins. or you will die waiting. Last I heard, one fifth of every tax dollar is spent on health care in Canada.
