  • I think i'm getting now. testimony replaces evidence ? Once you have a fuzzy wuzzy feel goods "evidence" can be claimed no matter whatever you say. B of M Stories are evidence. Trouble with this is There still is NO evidence . Could a mormon schooled in the definition of mormon evidence please explain. ? I s this explained in the "lying for the Lord" mormon lesson # 13.

  • $10000 reward offered in LDS church arson

  • watch?v=jdbi6yLOLa4

  • the book of mormon is true

  • Isa 40:17 All nations before him [are] as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.

Temples and mans exhaltation? Worthless and evil to an infinite God!

Isa 40:28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, [that] the everlasting God, the LORD, "JESUS", the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? [there is] no searching of his understanding.

Jesus Christ was a spirit brother?

    THAT, is another Christ.

  • I encourage you to not use the Bible as a stumbling block. Read the Book of Mormon which will bring you to the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • The Church of Jesus Christ is restored, and the church is true!

  • LDSapologist71,

If the LDS Church is True,

Why was Joesph Smith Wife Emma, Joesph Smith son, Joe Jr. III , ALL of his grand sons, ALL of his great grand sons, His entire family was RLDS until they all died??

Is the greatest Prophet of all time in the highest degree of heaven without his entire family? What?

According the LDS Church, " Yes" , because one can not enter the highest heaven unless they are LDS!

Sorry but the Prophet's family rejected the LDS Church as false.

  • You're right about the part that the family of Smith that rejected the Church were false!

But the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints is True!

Emma Smith will have, however, allot less to answer for than you will for your willfull rebellion against the LORD's restored church. Think about it, hypocrit!

  • Well LDSapologist71,

I would say you are the Hypocrit, and an arrogent one to boot.

So let me get this stright?

"YOU" know the Prophet better then his Wife, His Son, His Grand Sons and Great Grand Son? His whole entire Family?

    YOU?

    A Mermember?

    Really?

Or could it be THEY know Him & (their family) bettter then You?

The Prophet's family ALL rejected LDS as false untill the day they all died,

    sorry but that is "True"!

  • The Book of Mormon is a volume of holy scripture comparable to the Bible and is a record of God's dealings with His chosen people in the New World. The main purpose of the Book of Mormon is "to the convincing of Jew and Gentile that JESUS is the CHRIST, the ETERNAL GOD, manifesting himself unto all nations." (Book of Mormon Title Page) It was written by ancient American prophets for our day (Mormon 8:35) and is an American testament of the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • The entire Smith family agree on that statement. The book of Mormon is the word of God.

  • @LDSapologist71 ,

Dream on.The facts prove you as a fool,

Nice try to avoid the obvious.

The Prophet's Entire Family rejected the LDS Church as false, and were RLDS Church members until the day they all died,......AND according to the LDS Teachings, His entire family are not in Heaven with him because of there free agency,

    So sorry.

Now run along with your self righteousness.

  • @godstruthislove actually Joseph Smith's family all agreed that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, and that the book of Mormon is scripture, but the problem was they didn't accept God's decision to make Brigham Young as Joseph's successor as the next prophet seer, and revelator on the earth. So Emma and others became anti mormon liars just like you.

Joseph Smith's character remains unblemished., and the apostacy and restoration is completely biblical.

  • You are not chosen and you are not the Jews. You are not keeping the law either.

  • A number of evangelical Christian scholars argue that the key to resolving at least some of these tensions is to realize that (i) God accommodates himself to our level of understanding, and (ii) that things that make sense in an ancient culture/worldview may not make sense in ours.

  • What a neat video. I'm loving the chatter on this thread! True to the faith!

  • When I read Hugh Nibley's "Lehi in the Desert" Book I was SHOCKED.

    Read that book now!

The evidence he provides in my opinion absolutely proves the BOM is real. There is waaaay too much near eastern fabric in the text for a farm boy in 1830 to have made it up.

Seriously, read this link NOW (remove spaces):

  • Amen. Nibley has given us an amazing support to the antiquity of the Book of Mormon record. It seems God inspired him in that respect.

  • Also, you can download some readings of it as well as other of his books on Itunes under the podcast "LDS Scholarship"

  • Nice thanks for that suggestion Stormin! I love Nibley!

  • We don't claim to be the Jews or "chosen".

We don't follow abominable man made creeds hence why we follow the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Men will have no excuses with the testimony of hundreds of modern day prophets and LDS members who bear witness that this is the Lord's Church.

  • I can't believe the amout of people that call

the book of mormon without even reading it.

Together coupled with the bible it expands your

understanding. I love the scriptures those who treasure up the words of life will not be deceived.

  • Very interesting video. Daniel C. Peterson is one of my favorite apologists.

It seems to me that if some of these anti-Mormon critics on You Tube and elsewhere would just shut up long enough to really listen, they might learn something. As it is, they can't even stay on topic. It gets tiresome after a while to hear them rant and rave against even intellectually superior scholars like Daniel C. Peterson. What is really absurd is that they think their ranting will make us deny our faith.

  • arklyn.: Point in not listening & continual rants & raves is this. It's part of their witnessing tools, not thinking about how they're working hard for our salvation, even though we're suppose to be "saved by grace & not by works." We all could do without their works, but that's the point. It's also a witnessing tactics to ask the same old questions over & over again! They hope to plant doubts with such questions. It's good to have answers & a testimony through a witness of the spirit & research

  • (If Satan had to be 100% honest)

Hey at the end of the day, just deny deny deny!

    Its a lot easier than discovery; it prompts no one to action; it keeps one in ignorance; it may stifle one's progress; it lacks any actual thought; it helps a person refrain from any pleasant feelings;

Deny it all, folks! That's the name of the game. Besides, if someone joins this Mormon church, I hear that they have to walk this straight and narrow and we all know that walking uprightly before God is not possible.

  • This has been a feast of knowledge!

Thank you! Now see? That wasn't so bad!

We got a history lesson and everything, folks!

It would be a marvelous blessing if more folks read the Bible in this way; knowing the context of each verse as it pertains to the Holy Land vs how one with their Gentile mind assumes that each verse was written; It was not written for the Gentile's understanding; the Gentiles must gain knowledge of the Holy Land before making the attempt at understanding!

  • This is a good lesson. Brings the Bible and the Book of Mormon together very well.

  • This video is well done.

  • Is bearing false witness against those who do not keep the Mormon commandments a valid defense or even Christian?

No. It would only be a valid defense to a Pharisee.

  • You sound like a Pharisee.

  • The ONLY Pharisee I see here is you strikehiryu..remember they persecuted the saviour and the saints of God...just as you do here. They also THOUGHT they had the "orthodox faith" - like your kind claim,,,although you protestants only date to Martin Luther's "Justification by Faith only"..never TAUGHT by the early Christians

  • monitorpotato, It is all to clear that you have no idea what this video is about. They are speaking of the time of the Prophet Jeremiah [same in the Old Testament] and Lehi. Your comment is very ill informed. In reality you are the one bearing false witness against what this video is really about.

  • "This video is an invented fable" Seems quite real to me! As for the rest of the comment, more drivel, based on unfounded notions, and mere assertions.

  • You don't know the Lord.

  • The families (eg. Laban et al.) of Jerusalem were falling into spiritual captivity. God had to rescue one whole (line of Joseph) family (capable of growth), to insure a remnant of Joseph, would survive, to fulfill the prophecies, and promises of Joseph. Genesis 49:22 Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall: The family unit is so, So, SO, important.

  • Middle east Christianity had not been invented when the fabled Lehi came to the Americas. How is it that Nephi and the Lamanites magically started acting like European Christians? The bookofmormon stories are similar to Christian revival meetings and there are NO Jewish ceremonies intertwined.

You have a big problem with Mormon scripture. The Bookofmormon states that there is 1 God and polygamy is adultery, yet the D&C and PofGP changes both of these.

  • "European Christians?" What are you blathering on about now? Your comment makes no sense whatsoever. Then you launch in a unrelated statement about Polygamy? Put down the anti-Mormon literature, and get a clue about mere assertions, and fallacious arguments.

  • Nefites received the revelations of the Lord Jesus Christ (Jehova) and their knew Jesus would come to them after his ministery and resurrection in Jerusalem.

The Nefites kept the Law of Moses and also they made offerings:

And it came to pass that he built an altar of stones, and made an offering unto the Lord, and gave thanks unto the Lord our God.

    1 Nephi 2:7

You're spreading lies and confusion, as false teachers and pharisees does.

  • Sorry strikerhiryu..meant to say that to monitorpotato

  • ;) no problem brother.

  • The root word of Christianity is Christ. The English word Christ is from a Greek and is the equivalent of Messiah, which is from Hebrew. The coming of Christ/Messiah is well documented and the New Testament references all the Old Testament prophesies foretelling his coming. Therefore those in the testament who where looking forward to the coming of a Christ/Messiah are in effect Christians too. This is why Lehi and his family had knowledge of Jesus Christ. See your argument has no merit.

  • GifttoAll, if you honestly read the Book of Mormon, you would know that the Nephites were commanded to keep the Law of Moses until after Christ's death and resurrection, because it hadn't been fulfilled yet. They had the scriptures of the Old Testament (Torah), they had prophets, and they had synagogues, so I think it's safe to assume they also had Jewish ceremonies.

There is no problem with Mormon scriptures. You just don't understand it. I seriously doubt you've really read them.

  • (Deu 4:2) Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish from it, that ye may keep the commandments of Jehovah your God which I command you.

(Pro 30:5) Every word of God is tried: He is a shield unto them that take refuge in him.

(Pro 30:6) Add thou not unto his words, Lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

  • You proved your self wrong. As Moses lived 1500 - 1300 BC then indicated the canon is closed by quoting Deuteronomy 4:2. So according to your interpretation of Deuteronomy 4:2 there can be no mote scriptures after the 5 book of Moses. Then you quote Proverbs 30:5-6, Proverbs was written in about 950 BC some 400 years later and yet you are accepting Proverbs as scripture too. See Solomon didnt add to or diminish from the 5 books of Moses any more then the Book of Mormon did.
