  • ja-meel - beautiful

  • Yes jamal means Camal, so now go make fun of your jamal named friends. (^_^). But Anyways in arabic the olden way of pronouncing J which is also the G in arabic is Jeem but for a while now especially in entertainment & amongst youngsters they pronounce it mostly as Geem in day to day convos.

  • Gueem or Geem, are pronounced like that in Egypt and perhaps other countries. In Arabic it should/must be pronounced Jeem. Hope you get the meaning.

    Salam.

  • @One4theworld

    no just egyptianz

    everyone else says j

  • Cool, but maybe just first show the word without any comment so I can figure out for myself how to pronounce it. And then after a short silence I hear you pronounce it. That would improve the video for me.

Further lots of thanks for you alfabet with fettah, kasra en dumma ;)

  • I really don't think the english word should be there. it may confuse the kids. but great vids anyway thanks

  • Had no idea Jamal meant "camel". I know lots of Jamals!

  • actually, camel sounds like "ja-mal" when said, and "ja-maal" means beautiful in Arabic. the friends you know may spell their names as Jamal but it means beautiful!

  • beautiful in MSA arabic is pronounced "Ja-Meel" and spelled like جميل. The name Jamal comes from camel, which is a revered animal in the Middle East. Word

  • jamaal in arabic also means beauty but you have to say it like this ja-maal it's longer. I'm arABIC SO FEEL FREE TO ASK ME ANY QUESTIONS

    GOD bLESS!!!

  • Thank you! You are very kind.

  • how exactly does the sukoon (the circle) sounds like? also can you explain how to pronounce the tanween fat'ha, tanween kassrah & tanween dhummah? I dont get it.

  • the Sukoon silences the character it's over. Tanween is like putting a nuun on the last character of the word, except it's not a nuun. Mainly used for indefinate articles. Like instead of saying "The Book" it will mean "A Book" Tanween fat'ha sounds like "AN" Kassrah sounds like "EN" (like ya would make) and tanween dhumma makes an "oon" sound. Hope that helps

  • Mash'Allah, I am so happy, we can learn arabic here... :)

    Jazak Allah khair

  • Khaled is a cool name. :D

  • حيوانات جمل قطه كلب بطه قيل وزه حصان

  • Very helpful video. Technically, the alifs and the yaa should have a sukuun on them, not a fatha or a kasra, which should only be on the preceding letter. But nice and easy to use.

  • A helpful site
