Yeah, but to play the Devil's advocate and stick up for the Apache, it was never meant to support special operations. It was meant to cut through Soviet armored and motorized rife divisions in Central Europe.
An Apache has a much smaller profile in combat. In a counter-insurgency situation, a Blackhawk is better. But in a conventional war, where you have to engage enemy tanks and stuff, Apaches will be a lot more agile and harder to hit.
Haha, what?! It's pretty sad that as an Apache pilot, I can come up with better reasons for why the blackhawk might be somewhat of a badass aircraft than what he gave. It's obvious the guy that made this is some insecure dude that is just angry at the world and the aviation community for sticking him with flying blackhawks. I understand everyone has to vent when they don't get their way, but this is just pathetic. Apaches don't need stupid smear videos like this to prove anything to anyone
@relewis3 30mm Cannon - Tie 2.75" FFAR- Tie 20mm Cannon - DAP Hellfire missles - Tie Self Rearm - DAP 7.62 Miniguns- DAP 50 Cal - DAP SPIES/FRIES - DAP FLIR - Tie Looks like there's a few more things the DAP can do that your 64 can't handle. LOL So if that makes the DAP gay, what does that mean for the 64??? As far as percentages go, it's easy to say that 100% of 64's fly with 30mm. Just like 100% of DAP pilots fly with 30mm. Try another argument. That one was weak.
Isn't one of the first things they do at a 60 unit is hand you PC orders when you show up???? You can call yourselves aviators, but there is a reason why the 60 course is half the length of the Longbow course. What new information do you have to learn that they didnt teach you in primary, instruments or BWS??? Any 64 pilot could jump into a 60, run it up, do a traffic pattern, get fuel AND shutdown before a 60 pilot got in a 64, did a proper data management systems sweep, and cranked the engines
@TheFisherman290 Hmm....Wow. That's cool. Turn on the box and let it run a BIT. Soooo hard. C'mon over to Lowe airfield and prove to me that you can, hotshot. I work in the nights platoon.
And no....one of the first things we get in the units is mission training since we do a little more than fly circles in combat.
The reason the 64 course is so long is because of what you just said genius, you waste more time booting shit up than actual flying. That and IP availability vs student load.
@hawk7187 Um... No. The Apache takes very little time to get off the ground. Especially with lot 13. We're not wasting any time. Day NVS and Gunnery are the real culprits. That said, fisherman is definitely wrong about being able to run up a hawk... I don't envy your complicated run-up or emergency procedures. Or your lack of BUCS, HMD symbology, cyclic-mounted hold modes, and more... The same goes for mission planning... All you ever hear about at the library is how much yours sucks.
sigh.....call me when you need some covering fire and stop removing all the AH comments and leaving the lame UH comments. If you're going to have comments enabled, let the games begin and have some thick skin.
@silverarrow9000 Here comes the name calling. Way to go. You're right where you belong. See? I knew it was in you. Since you're throwing out numbers try 16 years aviation alone and counting.
You were actually the first to post some whinney crap so I just picked at you and you bit. Typical 64 guy. Now you see why you guys catch crap from the rest of aviation. You take shit too seriously. LOL. No go fly circles gun bunny and try not to get lost.
@silverarrow9000 Fly an underpowered, slow, one dimensional and instrument limited aircraft? No thanks. Maybe when my self esteem is lower and I feel the need to puff my chest out. The reason we down 64's is because you never shut up about how "Bad ass" you supposedly are. I have friends that have flown 64's for years and know that the Hawk has distinct advantages over the 64 and acknowledge it. Of course we BS back and forth but it's you new guys that get all butt-hurt about it. LOL
Apache pilots are just systems managers. Blackhawk pilots are real aviators that will land in zero illumination, brown out, and fully loaded onto a slope. That takes real skill.
But hey, apache pilots, you still have Nicholas Cage! "I am the best!!!!!!"
@cellblock131@cellblock131 please. I'm not a system manager. Flying has to be second nature to me. I have to maintain just as much stuff as a blackhawk pilot plus maintain a ' weapons delivery platform'. Let me say that again... the AH-64D is the most advanced helicopter weapons delivery platform in the world.
@swedishmax Look up "Battle Hawk" , "DAP" or "Black Hawk Demonstrator" and tell me what's more advanced. I used to work on both A and D models and neither impressed me. Black Hawks on the other hand can do the same mission with more advanced and customizable systems.
@TheFisherman290 LOL. Another one bites!!! How long did it take you to come up with that one? I bet you lost a few EP's and limits thinking up that little gem.
Listen, I've never flown one but was instructed by one of the first pilots to fly in actual combat. I'll put you in touch with him and your simple arguments in support of the 64.
@swedishmax there is a reason Apaches are not in the 160th...glorified UAVs, that are maintenance hangar queens. 60s can do everything an Apache can and more...well except the 30mm gun, but the 60 can be equipped with a much more lethal payload. ask the DAPs or the Columbian Air Force.
OMG this is the best one ever! Blackhawk pilots are the only ones with the balls to drop in on a firefight and rescue wounded soldiers that the combat medics have stabilized!!!!! HMMMMMM Apache pilots sit there a thousand feet off the deck in their A/C and shoot rockets. Plus the Blackhawk is one of the most versatile helicopter we have. Enough said!!!!!!
Thanks and gig 'em :)

With an unlimited budget and ability to field any platform of choice, USASOC (and USSOCOM) have never opted to adopt the Apache. Chew on that.

@SickTwistedFrq You have to realize that the video program uses computer-generated speech. Computers can't handle pronunciation well.
