lol the new album sounds exactly like their other six albums... lol who said that it doesnt sound the same... and thats not a dig at them, their sound is amazing... hell actually their older stuff sounds a little bit more like hendrix to me... but this album and brothers are both genius... these guys are the best rock band in years
If you don't like the black keys, your taste in music is shitty. This band is amazing and even better live. and attack and release was fucking awesome(its not selling out, its called progression)
it almost brings me down to see other black keys fans saying stuff like theyre the best and everything else is horrible. surely if you came across these guys, you can come across a small fraction of the other amazing stuff these days too
Yeah, sure... there's *some* good stuff out there. I was referring to mainly mainstream, the MTV garbage as shit. As you put it "a small fraction". Yes, there's a small fraction of good music these days. Eh, but... I'm picky in my music tastes anyway.
It literally changed what I thought about how incredible music could be. Ive delved into their old stuff and i love it all. Changing is just a part of genius.
can i just speak up for the people who dont like this album? i like it, however i dont think its as strong an album as it usually is. It's great, its just got less of the qualities that made me love the keys in the first place
bigando, thats the best thing ive read all day..i fuckin sick of people who want bands to keep putting out the same records yr after yr..for christ sake thats the beauty of music, to progress..if ur gonna keep making the same albums over and over u might as well make 1 and quit
To everyone who hates the new album because "it's just not the same" or some other bullshit reason along those lines, you're a fucking idiot (with all due respect). It seems like most of you would prefer that they just died after Thickfreakness came out. I guarantee that if this was their first album, you would all be tripping over your own feet trying to tell your friends about it.
yeah i know right? im so sick of ppl complaining about something when a band does one little thing different or its like their 4th album. Its like its in fashion to eventually say that a band has lost it after a few albums right?
@BigAndo21 think it was just a bad choice of producer, the music was still great, but the production a little too flat, should get Tom Waits to produce their next one
hey with all due respects fuck anyone who thinks the black keys arent a good band
they change up there sound from every album each one gradually moving away from there roots as a raw blues duo with the acception of chuloma (however you spell it) the junior tribute album...this last album was definatly different being produced by danger mouse and with ralph carney (pats uncle i thihnk?) on sax anyway...black keys are amazing great show seen them all the times ive been able to end of story
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
after all the positives ive herd and as much as i love them and always will, I still think the new CD sucks, I Got Mine is the only decent song on the new CD.
I hope someone puts the video of them doing this song in Philly last week. It was amazing, Dan was jumping out of his chair the whole time he was playing and it sounded alot different than this.
This is the old black keys....you need to see it in concert...it was amazing. The sound on this clip sucks. These guys are the best live band I've seen ever...they are even better than they are on CD. I still can't believe he can make his frigin guitar sound like there are two other players on stage with him. I'd murder to be able to play like that.
i actually agree with you now, because i just saw them live a few days ago and they were AMAZING! i posted that comment before seeing them, so i had no clue. IF THE BLACK KEYS ARE NEAR YOU, GOOOO SEE THEM, THEY'RE AMAZING!!!!
I don't know how you can see these guys live and still feel that way, but to each his own. These guys just absolutely blow me away. The music industry has been dying for a band like this to come along....raw, gritty garage rock rooted in the blues - these guys are the best.
it's really sad that they aren't more popular. wen i ask my friend's (who listen to the shit made today called rap and pop) if they've heard of the black keys, they all say no. it's just depressing.
I couldn't agree more. My friends look at me like I have ten heads when I ask them. My 9 year old daughter's taste in music is a thousand times better than any of my friends. I think she's the only 3rd grader that listens to the Black Keys, Bob Dylan, Dave Van Ronk, Allman Bros., etc. To your point, I wish they got the respect they deserve. Way too much crap out there today pawned off as music. These guys are the real thing.
this video definitely doesnt capture what it sounds like live. i saw them last nite and this was definitely one of the best songs during their set. his organ skills are disgustingly good
whoa...you must have been standing right next to me. I couldn't steady my hand though. And I was too paranoid to film for very long. I swear Dan was going to call some goons over to kick my ass and smash my camera.
well...I doubt that would ever happen now that I think about it. But at the time it seemed like a reasonable option.
Saw him play this organ in Tempe, AZ; it blew me away! guess it was one of those "had to have been there" things. You guys should stop being so critical and just appreciate the talent. It's 2 guys, come on.
I think Dan's organ skills are still a little too undeveloped to play a song with just the organ and drums. The tone is so close to his guitar and he's so much better at the guitar that there's really no point. Kudos for changing it up though!
You're wrong...with all due respect...you need to be there. It was awesome...tight as tight can be. It gave the song a completely new feel, and it was for the better. Great band, great live act...even better live, and you can't say that about a lot of artists these days.
interesting - he played this song purely on guitar in London. I think it worked a lot better on guitar personally. I captured it if you want to see it...
Amsterdam 2011 Black Keys, should be sweet.....

my only problem with this performance is the keyboard.
it changes the attitude and temper of the original song too much.
I've seen them play both versions (guitar alone and keys) and I believe that the song sounds a lot better when Dan sticks with the axe.

the black keys are amazing why the fuck would you complain about them on their own video.
if you have nothing good to say about them then dont say anything because you are in the wrong place!

that keyboard sounds EXACTLY like his guitar...that is crazy. how often does he use it I never knew he played keys
irishmandan123 3 years ago
maybe thats because he used the keyboard on the studio version.
