Well beat it and find out. I had to restart a few times and build up. Well but what happens to him is he was just a spirit that was brought back. He was already dead.

Tidus was never really alive...The Zanarkand that Tidus was from is just a "dream" from the fayth, as well as all the people (including Tidus and Jecht).

The Fayth are really aeons, and at the end Tidus and co. fight off the aeons, therefore, the Fayth stop dreaming and Tidus fades away.

He was real but 1000 years ago, and he went forward in time with Auron before sin destroyed Zanarkand. and then he learns latter on he isnt real and when he defeat sin the faith return to there original time and vanish so does tidus but as far as i can recall the faith made him a real person and end of X-2 he becomes real. Very sad but i love it :)
