But his musical creativity does come from his father - he played John Lennon's songs as a kid, and had a great influence from him. However, Sean still has his own unique style of music, sound, "voice", if you will. If you listen to John's songs, and then listen to Sean's work, you will definitely notice a difference in the emotional content of the music. Both very unique and should be enjoyed.

Sure, Sean is John's son, and one can fairly say Sean's work is influenced by his father, but they are still separate and enjoyable bodies of work. If you don't like one or the other, just don't listen to it. It's a pretty simple concept. I enjoyed coming back to this video to comment on it - I quite like this song.
You should see Sean playing solo guitar in this video, then: it's the worst solo I ever heard. It's my opinion. You can defend him but the truth he is a bad singer and guitarist. I enjoyed the song but it's kinda weird. you could make three good songs with that miscellany of chords that I consider totally unnecessary. Well, his style is weird for me and I just can't say he is a good composer. And his voice sounds like a duck or something. I prefer Julian. But Julian was brilliant in the past and today he's just a shadow of what he was in the 80's. What a pity!

The song is better than most. But, he sounds like his voice is very Computer Enhanced and Synthesized. I would like to hear him sing in person just with an acoustic guitar to hear what he really sounds like.

he's ok, John wasn't even that good, had a unique voice, he was more of an icon than anything else, some good tunes, good influences, mostly written by Paul Mcartney if you listen to wings, you can here all of the batles stuff in there hat paul did, there flavor mixed well. Sean's was a baby when his father was ripped from him through no fault of his own. Plenty of singers try to simulate Lennon. I grew up loving John, Paul, George, and Ringo and every change they - as both a group and individual artists - went through. Sean has talent. He will evolve at his own speed. He - like his father before him - might just end of surprising the world with his genius.
Sean is an excellent musician, and sounds just as amazing live as he does on his record. His voice isn't altered for the record, that's just how he sounds. He's also a really nice guy.

541 - Before George died I had always hoped they would get back together for a tour and ask Julian to sing/play for his dad. That would have been awesome because he really sounds just like him.

He sings just as badly as his father did. Sean and Julian need to pursue other things rather than continuing to bother people trying to sell themselves as musicians/singers of any measure of talent. And trying to imitate their father, who, about 1968 forward sucked.
Is that why those who comprise the cognoscenti herald "Plastic Ono Band" (which was released in the latter half of 1970) as one of the best albums of all time? Vocals by the senior Lennon were never "bad"- and believe it or not the Beatles did manage to record exceptional material on occasion as solo artists.

I agree sernovolasco, I don't think he should try to look and sound exactly like his father because of his blood. I think it is cool how this type of music is still being released, but I would enjoy to see him do something different and unique. Not very original.

he's ok, John wasn't even that good, had a unique voice, he was more of an icon than anything else, some good tunes, good influences, mostly written by Paul Mcartney if you listen to wings, you can here all of the batles stuff in there hat paul did, there flavor mixed well. I purchased this cd, friendly fire, right about the time it came out and i was glad i did. i love the album and the dvd that comes with it. i even saw him live when he came near. but now you people are making me sad, i have never heard such foul criticism of someone so undeserving. he is a great artist. his father was his own deal. he's not being john, hes being sean. they are similar because they are father and son! duh!

This is horrible. But I can definitely understand the reasons behind it, and I can understand why this is so bad if you look at the outside influences most likely surrounding him.
He needs to get away from his cove or shell, and go live life, get some experiences under his belt... This comes off as very pretentious.

Sean's was a baby when his father was ripped from him through no fault of his own. Plenty of singers try to simulate Lennon. Sean has every right - more than anyone else on the planet - to recreate his dad musically. I grew up loving John, Paul, George, and Ringo and every change they - as both a group and individual artists - went through. Sean has talent. He will evolve at his own speed. He - like his father before him - might just end of surprising the world with his genius.

He plays all of the instruments needed but on this album he worked with several other musicians, most notably Paul Simons son Harper.
That voice isn't engineered at all, check out some live performances.

Um yeah, if people are pissed that he keeps getting compared to john then maybe Capitol records should stop advertising "Across The Universe" in the upper right corner.
Truth is that there is no separating John/Sean because Sean's music sucks and if he were just starting out, he wouldn't get any publicity like he is because he's a beatle's kid.

Sean's a better songwriter. In fact, his first album, "Into the Sun", is really really good. It's not for the novice music listener, (i.e. Julian Lennon, kinda weak) Sean's stuff is tight. Unfortunatley, his new album is the result of a bad celeb break-up, so it's not great.
