This is as good or better sound quality than my mp3 copy, so I might as well download this and convert it. This is one of the greatest RR songs of all time- possibly in the top five.
Tight horns, sweeping strings, the Three Degrees on vocals, Gamble and Huff's house band MFSB laying down the essential 70s soul groove. I'm in heaven.
Thinking back to the time when we entered a discotheque for the first time at Rüsselsheim (Germany) in 1974. One of the best times of my life, away from the parents, aunts and uncles, feeling so free for a couple of hours. Meeting me first girlfriend their as well -:)
I loved driving my Big Block Corvette to this song back in the day. I just would take off from home (Bingo) driving to Syracuse and looking for a street drag race it was fun in those days.
The hippest trip in America! "... and you can bet your last money, it's all gonna be a stone gas, honey! And as always in parting, we wish you Love, Peace and Soul!"
let's confess: at parties we STILL wind up having our own 'Soul Train Dance Lines'. Its a tradition which always brings a smile to ALL faces. Our favorite song for this? "Papa Was a Rolling Stone". YouTubers: what is YOUR favorite song to dance to on YOUR Soul Train Dance Line?
Slightly different to my 45rpm on vinyl from 1973.Us poor British record buying public didn't get any of the "people over world malarky on our version! Still it's pretty damn good to hear the full length version.Pax to all from 73soulboy.Xxx.

@turbinexman - jon and turbin are both correct as it's a different day we live in now. But I can't help being nostalgic for the time when DANCING was EVERYTHING! Last night I watched a retrospective of SOUL TRAIN - the 35 years it ran on the air and I got up off my chair and DANCED with my kids; showed them it's not all spinning on your head with your 'crew'. But, time moves on and everything changes.....glad I grew up when I did but DRUGS have always stolen talent, even lives!!

Is Soul Train a black American version of Top Of The Pops? Top Of The Pops finished on British television in 2006, after being broadcast for 42 years.
@TheNewsoul2 Thanks for your reply! I didn't know that Soul Train had finished, after an impressive run of 32 years. I think that it suffered from the same fate as Top Of The Pops, namely a huge proliferation of television music channels.
"Let's get it on. It's time to get down"!!! LEGENDARY!! Larry Levan used to pump this tune into a frenzy!! WERK! This is the bassline that classic house/dance music is based on! Brilliant!

It's Sooooooooul Traaaain. With the Soul Train dancers, and your host Don Cornelius. (Aplause) Hello & welcome to another edition of Soul Train. We got The Jackson 5, Billy Paul, The O' Jays and special guest Mr Lou Rawls. Brought to you by Affro Sheen.
don't have to be from Philly to be familiar with this track, it was everywhere in Montreal, elevators, shopping malls, even GM used this toon to promote their cars at the '74 Montreal autoshow
@ jasmineheart209 The reason music sucks nowadays is because we have bitches like Lady gagging singing....thats why. Plus her disgusting outfits and shoes.

Is Soul Train a black American version of Top Of The Pops? Top Of The Pops finished on British television in 2006, after being broadcast for 42 years.

@GrahamLondonUK
you got it right !!! It was on from 1971-2003

Brilliant!

Best groove o' the '70s. How fondly I regard those times, when piercing was confined to earlobes & tattoos were for scumbags.

don't have to be from Philly to be familiar with this track, it was everywhere in Montreal, elevators, shopping malls, even GM used this toon to promote their cars at the '74 Montreal autoshow

@ jasmineheart209 The reason music sucks nowadays is because we have bitches like Lady gagging singing....thats why. Plus her disgusting outfits and shoes.
